  • Thank you for posting mrcmxoner - this is timeless. Isn't it such a tribute to this music that practically every city in the world keeps the Django flame burning with it's own Hot Club de Paris or two! Brilliant stuff.

  • Django. Is. Epic.

  • But the voice is that of Grappelly.

  • best stop chorus ever

  • Grapelli's violin must have caught on fire after that solo.

  • Los Angeles del cielo se hicieron gitarristas

  • This Django always drives me in despair...

  • Every now and then I stumble upon something I'd never heard before and like it.

    This time, loved it!

    Thanks for the upload!

Time to buy a few CD"s

  • listen to katherine whalen sing this w SQN

    she has an amzing voice<3

  • @amrtnz77 Katherine's version is one of my all-time favorite treatments of this classic. Her "solo" album, 'Katherine Whalen's Jazz Squad' is a treasured part of my collection, and I have loved the Zippers ever since I first heard "Put a Lid on It" on a CMJ sampler CD back in 1996. I find it incomprehensible that there is ONE viewer who can't enjoy this particular cut though... it's Django Reinhardt for crying out loud! The man is a legend, and dare I say, a genuine Deity!

  • @QuadMochaMatti

Agreed!!! Django<3 his voice and his musical abilities! i feel ya! I've been a fan of SQN after i heard Ghost Of Steven Foster. by accident too. and now i listen to them everyday and have almost all their albums:)

  • such pained lyrics, really looks forward to the person's unhappiness.

  • This music Reminds of Toy Story and the 1930s :3

  • @AntBelch I just got hugh lawries album- he's done a version of this and I thought exactly the same thing about toy story :p

  • so pretty i could cry if i weren't in awe

  • Timeless.

These people should never die. World would be a better place indeed.

  • There is another version of this song w/o vocals where Django plays incredibly hot and on the 2nd chorus plays a killer melodic sequence that he moves up and down the neck at astonishing speed and passion- definitely worth checking out!!

  • This is so incredible beautiful !!

What a wonderfull world we can see through this music !!

    THANKS DJANGO !!

  • el mago de la guitarra.......con su acompañante al violin.......un apasada.......san severino no h apodido igualar..............

  • who is the singer? Is it a girl or boy?

  • @lunettesviolette1990

A guy called Freddy Taylor he's the one who sings the same for the other songs with vocals in my channel

  • @lunettesviolette1990 Could be Stuff Smith

  • Master musicians all!

  • hiii!!

do you who is singing in this version?

  • @rainyclowdkourabies

There is a very wrong answer at Wiki Answers it says that Stephane Grappelli sings but that's so wrong Freddy Taylor is the one who sings the same for the other songs with vocals in my channel

  • @mrcmxoner thank you..

  • @mrcmxoner Yeah I think it's Stephane Grappelli on

the violin, and that's where the confusion is with the

    wiki answer

  • @johnsurs22

Indeed Stephane plays violin in every song of Django that has violin in it

  • @mrcmxoner Nearly right, John. Django also recorded some tracks with Eddie South, an american violinist. Grappelli appeared as second violinist on some, and Michel Warlop as third violinist on a couple. But sadly very few takes (only 4 as far as I know), involved Eddie South as the only violin.

I'll stick my neck out here and say that in my humble opinion, Eddie South had even more depth and feel than Grappelli. And I love Grappelli's playing.

  • @mrcmxoner Django recorded with an American Violinist named Eddie South also.

  • @johnsurs22 Yes it is.

  • @mrcmxoner You're right and in case there is some confusion, Stepane Grappelli is the violinist. (but you all probably know all that. :) )

  • Thank you so much for posting!!! This is the Hot Club in their prime and a great recording. I'm dancing around the house!!!

  • favo for me.. totally love this.

  • ah, mi favorito. muchas gracias.

  • @Landouski

    Igual, jaja, gracias a ti

  • Thank you! They took this song off a while ago, I thought I'd never hear this recording again!
