I would say that Pittsburgh is one of the more... not exactly nice, but accepting cities that I've ever been to. Our Pridefest is fucking huge; quite literally, almost every person I know goes. I am openly bi, and I have not met very many people that AREN'T ok with that. Even one of the assholes I know told me that he could respect how comfortable and open I was about my sexuality. The homophobes are far and few in between. I have been all over the world, but nowhere is as accepting as home.
So I just started to watch your videos the other day and I have to say though I haven't yet gotten threw them all I love you already...then tonight I watch this video and hear that your in my state of Rhode Island & I love you even more...where in RI are you? Keep the amazing videos coming!
Nice. I think you probably right. I will say that I think the most polite people in the world live in Birmingham, AL. I am treated well most everywhere I go. I have had very few bad experiences and still I was amazed at the atmosphere and attitude I found in Birmingham, AL.
vancouver canada is the WORST place if you smile, people look away. if you talk to people, they look at you like you're speaking a foreign dialect. im a friendly person who has spent most my time in london where people were very chatty about the weather and talking to strangers wasnt a crime.
Yeah I agree people in big cities are tend to be much nicer, most of my friends live in NYC and other big cities. But in Delaware not one single person is nice to you, come here and see they are all self centered. I have never met any one that I would consider a nice person there. I'm still trying to find at least one person in that state to make friends with. I also agree that Sydney Australia has the nicest people.
Canadians are generally thought to be the nicest people. More than nice, I think us Canadians are over apologetic. I know in other countries, like Germany, it's not in the social norm to speak to a stranger whilst walking down the street or to apologize for bumping someone's shoulder. While in Canada, I find myself saying hello to everyone and apologizing for anything. I think we're very approachable and sincere but there is an asshole no matter where in the world you are. :]
I think in part it may have to do with geographical location. Not that people in city A are nice and people in city B are mean, but people in City A live a relaxed not so busy life, that gives them time to stroll, take in the beauty, hold open doors, etc, while people in city B are always in a rush, they go from house to work to meeting to shopping to this to that to home, they don't take the time to stop and appreciate life, and it's beauty, so we will see people in city A as nicer
College towns! Since coming to college at the University of GA last year, I've found that fellow college students are among the friendliest and outgoing and mature people I've met. At least here in Athens Georgia. Small towns like where I came from are full of gossiping fools.
Sometimes people are being angry because mean people around them treat them badly. You can't just walk around smiling all the time. That will come back to you as an ulcer.
But yeah, when possible stay cheerful. But if you're feeling upset, then don't hide it behind a fake smile. There are lots of gossiping people willing to smile at yoru face, then character assasinate you.
I'm actually a nice person. No ego at all. I don't call people names, don't stare and don't gossip. Yet pretty much everyone in my school picks on me for being lesbian. People in the Netherlands are just buttholes. I'm happy to be moving to calli as soon as I'm 21. (:
Really now? Norwegian people are shy and cold unless drunk. You have to put in much energy to befriend Norwegians. And since Norway became a rich country, many believes we are kings of the World. I am Norwegian myself and I have several friends abroad. But when you finally get to know Norwegian people- they can be nice yeah.
@DUBBZENT and your a fucking ass-hole for saying that...... at least he is doing something good with his time. he could be out robbing your house. i would kick your ass for him... just cause im GAY myself and he's hot as hell. plus us rhode islanders stick together !
i think the people in my town are really old ...and tbh they come here to die...does that mean im really old and ive moved here to die too?? im only 19..:/
FUCKING LIBERAL , GET THE FUCK UT OF AMERICA YOU COCKSUCKER , AND SPREAD YOU GODDAMN AIDS SOMEWHERE ELSE ASSHOLE ,YOURE A FUCKIN DISGRACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@InToTheBlue71 i love how your a perfect example of a possible closeted self hating homosexual. your also an example of the hate davey wavey talks about.
well ive heard that the people in my town are stuck up or snobby, but i havent really experienced this lately. im a senior in high school, and everyone ive met since freshman year are generally really nice once you talk to them. maybe there is some judging, but thats because there are so many different people. places that dont judge, generally dont have a lot of variety. but everyone will talk with anyone if they enjoy their presence. drama is usually started with the person complaining about it
Contrary to popular belief, I found the majority of people in small towns to be mean. They are nice to your face, but they talk smack all day, and gossip is a sport you play whether you know it or not... i prefer a big, cruel city, where people are at least too busy to be fake, and the nice people you meet are genuinely nice.
It is quite possible to act "warm and friendly" towards people and simultaneously, on the inside, not give a shit and be judging them. Sometimes ppl say that I don't smile enough, that I have a stone face. but whatever. i would rather not be fake-smiling at people all the time, that way when i smile for real because there is something to smile about, it really means something.
I do think people are - or at least come across as - nicer in certain places than in others, mainly because of cultural differences. If I look at the average Belgian person as opposed to the Dutch, then we (Belgians) generally come across as less friendy. That's not because we're bad people, but just because in our culture, people don't usually smile at someone they don't know when they pass them on the street, so most people will find it weird if others do that.
Definitely. Today, I was getting gas and someone just looked over, we both said good morning and we both said to have a great day at the same time. That made my day for most of the day. :)
I smile a lot; to everyone and everything. When I found out that I was going to be studying abroad in Paris for the year, everyone said to get ready because people there don't smile. And I just thought... get ready Paris cause I'm bringing the smiles!
@strawberrybigmac I wish it where that simple! :( i don't know who to hang around with if I ditch him... He acts like such a dick sometimes... But he thinks we're friends.
I workd with the public an I was always always nice an ppl were huge A** HOLES to me. Even in my personal life im so nice an smile an I say hi to peopel an I'll get liek dirty looks liek im a freak for saying hello or good day or somthing an ppl scream profanitys at me an even somtimes throw stuff at me maybe I just live near rude an ignorant people i dont know but everyone is not nice mhm
whats fucked up is that I'm nice to everybody in general, and everybody knows this, yet when im with one of my guy friends in particular he jokes and calls me gay if im cordial towards gay people. wtf man, i didnt know that being nice was a sign of gayness. either way, i agree with this. people should be just a bit more nice.
im jealous that you live in rhode island, haha. my dad used to work up there every week so i went up with him sometimes & fell in love with it. especially newport. that has to be my favorite place in the world. lol. <3
@UglyShlagg22 go to his channel, its because he got comfortable not wearing one. When he started wearing one again he realised it became abit of a trademark and so never wears one...blah blah..
ok so i agree that the vibe you give out should be good BUT you cant be cheerful all the time...if youve lost a loved one you wont be giving out good vibes, you will be pushing people away even though you need people to comfort you...so
maybe you should learn to read people better and give everyone a chance, not just the happy people - after all, the happy people dont need cheering up
You're a nice person. But I think you think way too much and most of the stuff is crap. Barber is just trying to make a conversation and then you give some deep answer, he'll just be like ok...
And it's always "imagine if everybody would just...". Never going to happen. Never will everyone be nice to each other. ;P Just because there are assholes.
Davey - I love you but I think your advice here is very naive and not helpful at all. You are sheltered.... yes you have lived a lot of places.... but sheltered by the fact that you have it easy, you are obviously very gorgeous and charismatic and so everyone is probably nice to you anyway. Try to imagine what it's like to be a normal person instead of a studly youtube superstar.... it's not so simple. When you look the way you do, sure the world gives positive energy back...
God I love you!!!! And whole heatedly agree! People around here are friendly!!! And super nice to you when you nice to them! PS We talking bout a medium sized city of 5M people here!
I guess all I'm trying to say is, just do your own thing, like you said, be as friendly and as personable as you can be with people...but don't expect it in return. That's just not how most people truly are.
I love your positive attitude. However, on this video, I must disagree with what you are trying to say. People in general are NOT friendly, especially to strangers. A perfect example is where I work at. It's a customer service job, I smile, I say hello, I am friendly to every customer in the door. Mostly, I am greeted with eye rolls, sighs of disgust, impatience, or people who are too busy on their cell phones to even place an order.
I disagree with that. I've been many places, and I can tell you that people's level of friendlieness is a social cultural creation. In England it is much more acceptable as a whole to start talking to strangers and being friendly, than it is in my home country. In South Africa you just don't talk to people you don't know. Just two prominent examples from my personal experience. I can give more.
i can agree on that. but i think what your hairdresser meant was where the people are the more friendly polite and outgoing. and i got to admit, that country where i live it's more common to be very polite but distant. i've talked with many people who moved here about that and i experienced it for myself in foreign countries.
how are you supposed to be nice to someone who does "wrong" things, some people just can't accept the fact that people are different and also they expect you be like them... plus their moral values are so poor...so far I am just trying to keep away from it....how am I supposed to be nice to these people if they treat others badly...? :/
you're forgetting that a negative person will not be positive to you because you are positive. that only works on neutral people. there aren't many neutral people.
ur video is made on 11/11 and lasts 1:11....though, i had to sit with my parents after a long day of work today when they made borderline homophobic/ignorant comments towards gays *in reference to what was on TV at the time*...i didn't do anything karmically to deserve my emotionally/mentally constrained circumstances, i just don't have opportunities nor the means nor the strength/courage enough to break free...life's not as shiny and hopeful for others as it's been for u...sorry, i'm bitter :-(
i think its cute how he does most of his videos shirtless. :D

I like to think I'm a nice person, and all my friends say so, yet somehow most everyone in my school is an asshole.
UnnecessaryUmbleck 1 year ago

No I moved to here a few months ago.
And other than my old town, nobody says hello.
I started saying hello, but quit after getting no response 50 times.
Except for most of my neighbors.

how are you supposed to be nice to someone who does "wrong" things, some people just can't accept the fact that people are different and also they expect you be like them... plus their moral values are so poor...so far I am just trying to keep away from it....how am I supposed to be nice to these people if they treat others badly...? :/

you're forgetting that a negative person will not be positive to you because you are positive. that only works on neutral people. there aren't many neutral people.

ur video is made on 11/11 and lasts 1:11....though, i had to sit with my parents after a long day of work today when they made borderline homophobic/ignorant comments towards gays *in reference to what was on TV at the time*...i didn't do anything karmically to deserve my emotionally/mentally constrained circumstances, i just don't have opportunities nor the means nor the strength/courage enough to break free...life's not as shiny and hopeful for others as it's been for u...sorry, i'm bitter :-(
