you had great points brother, and im not hating, just constructive criticism. think about what youre trying to say before you make the video, or make points on a sheet of paper or something.
@fuckyouvevo11 Well everybody has to start from somewhere and this video was my 1st. It's a little embarrasssing to watch for me but I've learned from it. Thanks for the comment.
@fuckyouvevo11 Well I' think the average pay for a construction worker in Hawaii is about $10 to $15 bucks an hour. Your biggest expense would be rent. (probably $1200 a month for a comfortable place to live) If you found a roommate to share the expenses with it would be alot easier and more comfortable in my opinion. Biking it in Hawaii would definitely save you alot of money.
lmao what are you talking about all this shit sounds cheap to me ,try living in sydney australia double the price ovf everything you talked about and its about right ,i went to hawaii for holyday ,eveything from designer cloths to cost of living is dirt cheap ,mabey you dont earn enough coin mate so everything is expensive to you
@Labrish2000 I never lived in NY so I really can't say. In my opinion, your biggest challenge is finding a place that is affordable and comfortable. Food and other expenses shouldn't be too much of a problem once you learn where to shop for cheaper solutions. But if you've never lived on an island then I suggest you do some serious research first.
I will listen to you talk about life on Hawaii any day over the losers who put some wanky 1950's Hawaii song on and talk about how awesome the islands are.
Thank you for a REAL down to earth view of things. Over all it is cheaper the San Francisco. Thanks bro!
@11219tt There's alot more to Hawaii than what I could put into this video. Good jobs are hard to come by on this island but it's not totally impossible to live there comfortably. Thanks for commenting.
I am a teacher who is considering applying through the Hawaii DOE for a teaching position. What are the best islands or cities to live in (as well as better schools) that have a nice night life, safe environment, and daily activities to become involved in? My biggest concern is living day to day on a certain salary, but I'm single so I think I can make it work. NY is just as expensive!
@Labrish2000 If you're looking for a city type environment with nightlife and outdoor activities then the island of Oahu is your best bet. I lived in the Waikiki community of Honolulu and had a great time there. the crime in Honolulu is minimal when compared to mainland cities but be aware that crime DOES exist there. Check out "honolulupddotorg" for crime statistics and at "honoluludotgov", click on "residents" and "visiting" for more info.
@TheSocialRevolution The average price I gave is for a basic one room studio condo with a living space of 300 sq ft or less. This is in the Waikiki area of Honolulu. It could be better or worse in other cities on the island.
Good info. I remember back in 2004,05 a gallon of milk was like almost 9$. Im supprised it hasnt changed much. lol. Also, I must add, that even the military offers a better chance than none, but I got lucky. Im not sure if you can just ask to go there. Usually you gotta be on top of your game to be able to choose. Or maybe if you work something out with your recruiter. Think it through and do the research first.
Why eat Macas? I was lucky to be taken to a local style restaurant back of Waikkiki n food was real good n cheap. Dinners were mainly Kanaka Maoli. It was friendly with a real family atmosphere. Try n find similar and give that fast food rubbish the flick!
I love Hawaii and specially the locals! Used to want to move there, but glad I didn't. They want to get their country back and I definitely think rest of us should respect that wish.
this comment only tells something about you, and it isn't anything brilliant.
putting other people down won't make you look more intelligent. getting more education (tripple K schools do not count!) can sometimes be helpful though.
@upinflamezzz i work at a mcdonalds in hawaii. the dolar menu depending on which mcdonalds includes but are not limited to : mcdoubles, hamburgers, cheesburgers, mcchickens, small drinks (some are $1 any size) side salads, parfaits and small fries.
to make things short what dis popolo guy saying is if you from the mailand stay in the mainland you can come to hawaii but no forget to leave and go back to where you came from.
firstly this guy is saying wasup cos he's black, not even brown! so of course he doesnt have haters, but the truth is he aint Hawaiin he's a black that spent time in Hawai'i.
I am "white" (actually, I really do not like nor see any reasonable purpose of using those colors on different people)
and I do find that value of a person is based on words spoken and actions taken, and nothing else.
Do you enjoy racism? If not, then how are we supposed to diminish that problem in the world if people like you (haters) keep going with racist remarks like that?
Clean your heart. There's much nicer world out there if you let it come to you.
would it be smart to live in a 2 bed room studio that is like 1300 with like 3 friends if we all have jobs? because we are planning on moving there for college. i've been researching and i want to go but i need advice.
@guachu94 Not a bad idea to split the rent between 3 people, just make sure you check out the place and make sure it fits your needs. Most places already come furnished. (living space might be smaller than you might be used to though) If you don't have jobs there yet then make sure you and your friends have alot of money saved up before you arrive. Check Craigslist for some apartment listings but if at all possible, take a trip here first and check out some places in person...
@stercraze06 Whats up my man. Your upload is hot. Okay, I desire a 2 br, and I can afford to pay 1900 to 2200 a month for rent. I will not be working but vacationing for a year lol! Somewhat like a retreat. I want to live on the big Island and be in the action like city living or downtown I need to know the hottest areas to live, but safe and nice which you suggest. I am considering living in a tower, apartment or home. I will not be driving so the bus will be my main source of transportation.
@Geniuschance I'm not too familiar with living on the Big Island, I only visited their once. But I do know that living there is at a much slower pace than living in Honolulu. If your looking for action then Oahu is the Island you want to be at because its more of a city life in my opinion. Having $2200 a month for rent will get you a pretty decent place to live while you are there.
@stercraze06 How are the locals? Are they prejudice? I hear they have somewhat a grudge aganst them because they are natives which I do understand, but how about us... do they like us?
@Geniuschance Prejudiced people are everywhere you go in the world. You will probably notice this in Hawaii since you are not a local. But you will be just fine if you are only there for vacation. Just have fun and enjoy.
@stercraze06 I guess I am confused... I thought the big island is where everything's popp'in. Ok yes... i was talking about Honolulu, thought that island was big, got my islands mixed up, but what area recommend Oahu? Is it safe? I want to be somewhere nice but still in the action Thanks for hitting me back!
@stercraze06 Okay... the name of the island is Oahu... but what part of honolulu is safe.... living downtown okay or based on what I told you I am capable of spending... would near the beach be better and safer? put me on game.
@Geniuschance If you want to be near the "action" then just find a cool place to stay in Waikiki. It's right on the beach and It's fairly safe just as long as you don't make trouble with the locals.
Only thing that is of major concern for people who want to move to Hawaii is job. Hawaii is predominantly tourism driven economy so high paying jobs in finance or other comparable areas are very hard to find.
Stercraze06...
Could you please share with us what made you move to Hawaii and what you do there currently?
@kullio100 Thanks for sharing your comments. Maybe I'll make a vlog in the future about how I moved here but to put it short....I lost my job on the mainland due to the economy and shortly afterwards found an opportunity to move here. Thanks for watching. Peace!
Great vid about Hawaii.. Having lived in NYC and now living in L.A. I can say that cost of living in Hawaii is probably comparable to NYC and LA. Perhaps a bit lower in some areas like housing. For example, 400 sf studio in NYC goes anywhere from $1400 to $2000. Traffic jam during rush hours in Honolulu is second worst in the country after L. A.
Cost of food is high, but I hear that many of the big discount shops like Costco are opening up in Hawaii so it should go down in long run.
Words of the wise, brotha! Gas here (San Diego,Ca) is $3.55 a gallon. In other parts of the country like Arizona etc. gas is selling for $2.55 a gallon. We gettin screwed over because we live in popular tourist destinations!
@ForceOfWizardry And it's only gonna get worse if gas reaches over $4.00 a gallon this year as predicted! I'll be trading in my car for a pair of roller skates. ; )
Also, we have to remember that they use liters, and 1 liter is .26 gallons.. which is close enough to being 1/4, that I don't feel like doing a lot of math.
The LOWEST price they offer of "Gazole" one gallon of gas would be AROUND $8.56 To get S.P95 it would cost AROUND $9.16 To get S.P98 it would cost AROUND $9.28
@stercraze06@stercraze061.51 Euros is 2.32 American Dollars 1.49 Euros is 2.29 American Dollars 1.39 Euros is 2.14 American Dollars.
And.. what does all the other stuff mean? S.P98, S.P95, and Gazole? Umm.. I don't even know about the first two, I do know that gazole just means "fuel" (easy one)

@kullio100 Iam from and live here in Hawaii.
I have also lived in LA.-twice.
Honolulu isnt quite like LA although New York is a little closer to Honolulu.
Keep in mind the problem with Hawaii is the total effect of housing/rent, food, bills and other expenses.
The problem with Hawaii is that wages do not keep up with expenses. Therefore this causes an imbalance for everyone including the rich.
