it is a great music that will last a long time. if you are use to it it brings back a lot of good memories about the singer and myself the listener. God bless Ebenezer Obey anywhere he may be. May God bless his ministry also
@oluwalogbon58: I agree, I witnessed Obey and his band played in many social functions when I was a kid. The composure of this man was superb but you could see the glee and bliss that would radiated from his face coupled with genuine smiles. Every one in the band was serious but in the back Gabriel Adedeji on bass and Mutiu-talking drum were always gestured and corresponded to each other. Monday John sat to the left of Commander Obey in the front, he was a genius, he played with much dexterity.
@geo93kat: Great music last forever. May Ebenezer Obey live for ever, he has affected all of our lives in very positive ways both in Nigeria and abroad. I wish him good life and good health. I wonder what is his son (Shina) is doing now. He was my friend before I came to USA.
@geo93kat ya got it right !! the bass player and the drummer must coordinate since they hold the "beat" together if they miss-calculate, everybody else including the dancers will know something was out of sinc--yap Gabriel Adedeji if i remember was "oko labake"??? word -up!! from the Bass Man himself...God Bless
I thank GOD for being a Witness (as a youth) when all these songs were being released, produced.
I was a young. I still can sing all Obeys, Sunny Ade, Dele Abioduns etc. songs from the beginning to the end.
When things are rough n tough, one line would come to mind n tongue. Guess what? After singing it for 10 minutes or so, the pain eases. It"s like having a session with a live Pastor.
God Bless Ebenezer Obey for this living spring in the desert.
Completely in agreement with naijanistan, no matter what you are facing in life you'll always find an Obey's song to encourage and lift you up. His compostion is excellent. That's one of the reasons why his songs are contemporary. Great talent.
This man is a great African musician ...if i had to choose one track from his vast repetoire this would have to be it..Oluwa miii mo ja de lo.......Clasiic ishh!!!
I am Igbo, but this piece by Ebenezer Obey was one of my best growing up in the 80's. Great music.
