  • Compost toilet aka dry toilet.

  • I work on the river so we have no sewer. We purchase small bucket shaped containers of enzymes they do the job of disposing the waste that can not be pumped out into the river. And cyfer007 your on to something I like the check valve.

  • @ stayingawake20......Excelent point about stopping sewer backflow. I might add that in some parts of the country the cleanout pipe is on the outside of the house about two feet from the outside wall. It will be a 3 or 4 inch PVC pipe extending above the ground approx. 4-8 inches. A well prepared individual would set aside a bag of pre-mixed dry concrete (Sakreet) just for that occasion. Anyway, I just watched one of your videos for the first time and I'm going to be watching more.

  • ew...makes me very thankful to have a septic system. Waste disposal is gross but, even YHVH speaks of it. He instructs in His Torah to bury it outside the camp. Deut 23:12-13.I like the post hole digger idea!

  • first they make a plug that you put in your main sewage line at the cleanout, this is to stop the sewage from backing up the pipe from the street and spilling out in your basement. secondly make a compost heap for your poo. pee in a seperate container (pee in a 10 to 1 mix is great fertilizer) poo in a bucket cover with saw dust leaves or some other dry material. Dump in compost heap daily add hay or straw over it. In 12 months you got good dirt.

  • get a 5 gallon bucket , place one cup of peat moss inside first. Place bucket under a chair with a whole in it. You can do your business. Now cover contents with peat moss. After bucket is full go dump it in a compost bin. in 14 to 20 days it will decompose into dirt. I've been doing it for a year now. Just clean the buckest with bleach and youre good to "go" .

  • Instead of wasting your wood on a outhouse take the time to build a catapult or trebuchet and launch the turd bags to the other side of the neighborhood. Good home defense against a crowd too.

  • @braveheart98 I like that idea!! A poo launcher!!!

  • Thanks --- Great Vid ( I'm a new Subscriber) Well,Thats Something i Never thought of,Blocking The Sewer Pipe,So sewage Dosen't come back Into the house. I Also Have a good Post Hole Digger, good Advice. Thanks Again !!

  • and i installed a check valve on my municipal waste

  • BURN IT

  • @cyfer007 Thought of that. Question: using fuel to do that is not sustainable, and the smoke is a huge attention getter. What's your suggestion of incinerating with out attracting attention to your self?

  • @stayingawake20 depends how much work you want to put in to it you can always filter smoke . You could run your pipe deep in the earth or run the smoke in to a water scrubber

  • @stayingawake20 One other thing If tshf There will be smoke all over the place

  • @cyfer007 Ya know, you may have me on that one! Very good point, at least for a while! Thanks for the post!

  • FM 21-10!

  • i will tell u that my mate doesn't think much about havin 2 re-dig the hole out, composted or not, so his idea is 2 use a tank n insert it in the pit area. cut out holes over the seat area, but have the cut-out pieces re-attached so they can slide back into place 2 cover the potty holes once a day 2 turn the tank 4 mixing. when u go, add vegetation or sawdust. n u'll still need the vent n fan. i'm sketchy on details, i know, sorry. just seemed like more work 2 me! God Bless y'all!

  • once ur shed's up, u can dig out a section in the back thats 2ft x 4ft x 4-6ft deep n use the excavated dirt 4 raised beds in ur yard. when u bld the seat section u can also bld a swing-out plant bench 2 camo it. if u have room make a 2-seater. put a divider in n cap off a seat. when one side is close 2 full add worms, cover it over n use the other side. when anyone goes, toss in some sawdust, peat moss, weeds, whatever. put in a vent pipe n add a 12v solar fan n voila!

  • ok bro, seen ur vid but haven't read the comments yet. living in a city u DON'T wanna use a posthole digger. 1)-ever hear of poop-eatin dogs? disgusting, i know! u can top off ur duties w-pepper 2 keep em out, but ur wasting a resource. 2)-what if its winter? ever try digging holes in solidly frozen ground? then theres the lack of privacy, 2 boot. it may not bother u, but it will ur lady. u can probably bld a small garden shed w-o 2 much hassle in the city. plant vines over it 4 camoflage.

  • You could try out a composting toilet system, a bit pricey, but no water really needed.

  • @nightshaade09 Will try, thanks for the Idea!!!

  • camp toiletw/the blue treatment?then bury?

  • @ilovety65 Good interim solution, but the "Solution" so to speak will run out soon. Give you enough time to dig some holes!!! Thanks for the post!

  • would lime help decompose and neutralize the waste?

  • @XWakamanX I should think that it would! Great Idea

  • I just got our cesspool repair and ready to be used so I can get off city sewerage.

  • @Richlz28 Right on!!! That will be very handy! Figure out how to power the sewage chopper, if you have one, off the grid, and you're set!!! For a long time! Enzymes will be a way cool item for your store! Thanks for the post!

  • Swede, During the hurricanes down here in FL we used the toilet then just bailed a gallon or two of water from the PRE(event) filled up tub and poured it down the toilet them the toilet kinda "flushed" on its own---It worked for us with a well water/drainfield system----It might be worth a try for yall up north---just an idea

  • @kevreilly7 Yes, that will work until the sewer backs up. Once that happens, it'll back up right into your abode! That's where the sewer plug comes in handy. Then, the post hole digger.

  • You are sounding tired in this vid----Don't burn yourself out man--

  • First off urine is sterile, unless there is a case of infection. It is possible to use one bucket for just urine and let it evaporate. urine is also a good antiseptic.

solid waste is the real cause of disease, and is also a good resource. Many regions use Evap. Ponds for dealing with solid waste. Once solid waste is dry is becomes fairly safe and posses vary little threat to your health. From there can collect it a burn it as fuel for a fire.

  • @darkfairytales your right but urine does bacteria infested

  • Common sense stuff. The lovable loo and a compost bin work well if you have the land to do it; but some people live in a community where the lots are small. Does anyone have suggestions on dealing with waste disposal when the size of a lot is small?

  • @dwightinutah In the vid, I talk about a post hole digger. The only thing your really need to bury is "solid" waste. Dig a 3 foot hold, fill 1/2 way with waste, then fill back in with dirt. Start the process again. You can pick up some Rid-X to help with the decomposition. Hope that helps, I have a small "Lot" as well. Some great comments below that can give you some ideas too! Take care

  • Could you not just burn your waste?

  • @HarblTheCat1 Yes, you can. You would need a fuel, probably diesel. They Did it in Vietnam regularly. Imagine all the smoke it will create. I wonder how far you'd be able to see the smoke???? Would make you a great target. But yes, you can burn it.

  • @stayingawake20 Diesel and smoke both good points - the "flying toilet's" that would emerge would be an enormous hazard as well - problem is in my lot there's not enough room for cat sanitation.

  • There is a MUST-HAVE item for all homes on municiple sewer systems - a pneumatic sewer line plug. They inflate with a bike tire pump and block the 4" line coming into the home. They are fast to install and quick to remove, just lick them clean and they are ready for storage!

  • this vid is the shit

  • @HELLER1116 Now that's funny!!!

  • You may want to consider Humanure.. google it.. I know I know I wouldn't either.. for now.. but folks are doing it with great success and if the shtf I may join them. Swede let me ask you.. Me and my daughter canned our first batch of veggie soup out on the turkey fryer.. everything went great and I found adjusting the heat/pressure even better then stove top. My question is.. Can I wrap foil around the outside of the canner to prevent the black suet build up ? Do you have that problem too ?

  • @trentontrading I would suggest adjusting the air valve a the burner. It sounds like you are burning your fryer "rich" or more propane than air. I've never experienced an issue like that but know someone who did on their "turkey" fryer pot. Open your air holes where the gas line attaches to the burner. I would personally stay away from wrapping anything.. Let me know how it goes. Will look into Humanure. Thanks for the info!

  • @stayingawake20 Thanks Swede I know exactly where you mean. I'll make sure to set it wide open as possible next time. This is our first time out on a turkey fryer so we are learning as we go and your videos have helped tremendously!!

  • @trentontrading I'm glad I could help, it makes all this worth it. I truly am trying to finish the series, and have recorded vids, but they are not what I want to express. I think you have a pretty good handle on things, keep the propane at a min once the pot has started to whistle to minimize fuel consumption! Talk atcha later!

  • great info, had not even thought of the sewer backing up, would of got caught bigtime with my pants down as I was going to use garbage bags in the regular toilet after flushing the water out

  • Look up Bokashi and make your own, it will get pricey fast other wise!

  • @NewAmericaNow Yes, I already have, thank you!

  • I was thinking you could build a housing unit around the 5 gallon bucket to prevent tip overs. Carnivore waste is used to tan animals as well. Composting the waste will be the best solution. Mrs.NAN

  • Hey swede. I am fortunate that I am on a septic system and have well water. Old systems were botomles boxes with know drain field. I would bury a plastic drum in your yard with no bottom on it. When you dig the hole you need to make shure it will perk meaning runing water in and making shure the ground will absorb it. As far as emsimes septic treatments are in about any hardware store. Great post and somthing that is very important.

    KEVIN OBX NC

  • @OBXSOLWIND Thanks bro, great info!

  • great info... never thought of this. Self composting toilet is great. expensive though... they are awesome, odor free and easy to install... not practical for emergencies only... The "honey Bucket" method is ok, too. You can place a toilet seat over the 5 gallon bucket and put water in the bucket to reduce the smell. I would be more worried about finding a comfy way for my wife to do her business. not worried about myself. Want to keep my wifes comfort level as high as possible.

  • @vinn733 Comfort for the wife is great, but we still have to dispose of it. Have the bucket and can quickly detach a lid currently in use. Will look into a self composting unit. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the post!

  • Good Info!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent information!!! Was wondering what we would do about that problem should the situation arise!

  • Bobcat with an auger would be best!

Find port-a-potties, cut off the bottoms and put them over manholes on streetcorners. Keeps the stragglers out of the yard and gets washed out by the rains, for a while anyway.

Now just one question...how do you use the three seashells?

  • @ThePresidentialTouch Ha,,, I don't know, how do you use 3 seashells?

  • @stayingawake20 I thought YOU knew!! Great....

  • @ThePresidentialTouch I know now, think I'll pass on that one.. for now! Damn!

  • get some bags of lime. and when the outhouse hole starts filling up give is a shot of lime. it helps with the odor and breakdown of the crap. You can compost it to. I was thinking post hole digger like 10 seconds before you mentioned it. The wider the mouth of the hole, the deeper you can go.

  • @MYAR15SaysImFree Ya, the lime or lye is a grandiose idea. Gotta love the post hole digger idea!! Thanks for the comment!
