I don't agree.. Obama IS exotic for running for president. There is no negative connotation to that and it could mean that he is not your usual politician compared to all the ways that our presidents in the past were. i.e he lived in indonesia, grew up with a single parent, doesn't conform to the norm in tone and disposition, and yes, in part, he brings black and black culture to the mix. Differences that could be used against him as with other politicians with non-standard backgrounds

@shet0011: if you take the word exotic in its classical sense, you are right as you describe, but from the context here (and from having seen him on other shows) it is clear this is not what buchanan means. if buchanan came across as a neutral, objective commentator then it would be a very valid point and probably would have caused much less of a reaction (and more along your lines). unfortunately, he is very far from that and this shades the meaning of the specific word he used.
