*sigh* I keep looking at these videos on how to clean and oven and I only WISH the oven Im trying to clean was a "dirty" as the ones in the video. Moved in with a bunch of single guys who have never ever in over 10 years cleaned the oven AND its an old one with out a self cleaning feature. Even if it did have a self cleaning feature I would be terrified to use it for fear of burning down the house. Well Im afraid of burning down the house with just baking...
To the author of this video and to others, I use a scraper to take off the "black spots". I used Dawn dish detergent, let it sit overnight and then I scraped the area. Most of it came off. The others that didn't come off is because they were there longer. I use Baking Soda to clean the bathrooms. Maybe I'll use it next week to clean the oven. I like the shine.
Great it really works!! I buy baking soda at iherbs.com, Its the best price and cheap shipping, also if you use the discount code daj756 you will get $5 off on your first order :)
@18wheeler76 I don't know, I have never tried it. I use that combination to clean toilets and sinks since it will create a reaction (bubbles and fizzes). I might not use it for the oven. Using the baking soda and water works well.
Do Not Do This With Gas Ovens!!!! This only works with electric ovens. 1. You dont want water underneath the heat sheild on Gas Oven. You can't just pour water into the bottom of a gas oven. 2. The chemical reaction between Baking Soda, Gas and Water can leave perminant stains in your oven surface.
@nick112blue You have no idea what you are talking about. Assuming you are correct about the stain-inducing combination of baking soda, GAS and water (which in and of itself is doubtful)- this combination of baking soda, water and GAS will NEVER exist inside your oven, unless you have a faulty oven that leaks gas and is already about to explode, in which case, oven stains should be the least of your worries.

Wow love this, some of the things we find in ovens are lot worse than this! Mouse droppings, lots of dog hairs if the owner has a dog and sometimes a lot of rust. This method works but doesn't take a while to get the result so we don't use it as we need to do a few ovens a day for our business.
I found a charred chicken nugget and a french fry, and she's embarrassed about her stove, lol. I tried this method and it starting working pretty fast. I still need to leave a final layer on over night to get it perfected, but I'm so glad I didn't buy any "nasty chemicals"!
@marek0086 Hey there! I triedit, I used an entire box of baking soda, but at 79 cents, who cares? I sprayed lotd of water, let it sit over not, and it basically wiped right off! And this was after scraping at that charred mess with various different scrubbers, knives, etc.. This stuff works wonders; I tell everyone about this.. Thanks!

billyk2373 5 months ago 2
@billyk2373 Sorry for the delay. I basically make a paste using the baking soda and water and then spread on the sides.
