  • as a pre teen, I was in love with Mary! LOL

  • i feel like having had the songs mary sang was a truly great gift. this is beautiful, thank you for sharing :)

  • Oui, mais c'est une reprise? John Denver la chantait aussi.

  • @countrydawn418 Et John Denver la ecrivait aussi, mais le "hit" etait chante par Mary.

  • This may be blasphemy..... but i think Mary Travis sang every bit as well as Karen Carpenter (even if she didn't play the drums as well, lol!!). What a great pity that they never got together to make a duet album - imaging how immensely, insanely awesom THAT would have been!!!!!

  • Mary, You sang this at our wedding via a spectacular sound system. After the vows, people asked, "Who sang that song? I want to meet her." That's how this song was heard. What a presence! And at a truly remarkable day. You were the icing on the cake.

  • voice like an angel and the looks of sunshine.mary travers brought a special beauty to us all.we are all blessed by the memory of mary travers

  • Fantastic video of a beautiful singer that is Mary Travers r I p, thanx 4 uploading!

  • She was the first celebrity I was sad to hear die. My parents played her all the time while I was growing up. I have tons of her and PP&M on my ipod.

  • C'est beau... je regrette que les jeunes d'aujourd'hui ne s'intéressent pas plus à ce genre de musique(je dis ça parce que je suis jeune), celle qui donne l'étrange impression de la connaître par coeur sans l'avoir jamais entendue...

    :)

  • Je suis d'accord. Merci beaucoup for les comments.

  • The "MARY" album is a masterpiece. My favorite is Morning Glory but I can't find it on youtube. Guess I'll have to dig out the record.

  • ooops, I guess the morning glory song was on the album of the same title.

  • I love that album too. I WISH I KNEW HOW It WOULD FEEL TO BE FREE. We played this at our wedding. Wow! People thought she was in the house; the sound system was that good. I went through a period of depression in the early 80's and believe I am alive because of this lady's voice, her choice of song, and the optimism I clung to in the darkness of my soul.

  • Yes, It is hope filled music.

  • love Mary Travers!

    Will miss you, Mary!

    Bless your family and fans

  • Ah, Mary, only six years older than me. There goes my youth.........you left the gift of song, as John Denver did before you.

  • Very nice video tribute to Mary along with one of her best solo songs. God Bless You Mary Travers; may you sing in His glory with all the angels!

  • Unfortunately, Siobhan, this is the only one of her solo, post PPM songs I remember, but I still get goose bumps when I hear it. May Mary RIP.

  • I too played the first post PPM "album", simply entitled "MARY" and OMG, I loose it especially with this song and her version of John Denver's Rhymes and Reasons" which she does better than him. Of course, she also sings his "Follow Me" more to even though I adored his music mastery as well. I cannot imagine this world sans her spirit of love, hope and passion. There will never be another Mary but her voice and unique melodies will be will be with us always! RIP my fav Greenwich sister!

  • well--I thought I was under control until I heard this and the tears are slow to stop flowing...Mary--you touched hundreds of lives and hearts....G-d Bless...thankyou.

  • I hope the Angels learn to sing even more gloriously from you.

  • OMG, I have been crying *all* day listening to her sing. What an extraordinary heart.

  • So beautiful. Thank you for posting this great old song. We'll miss you, Mary! Right now, I'm pretty sure Puff is hiding in his cave and crying his heart out right now...and he's not alone.

The voice of a generation. She will be missed. Thanks for posting this song.

  • [*][*]R.I.P.

  • Wonderful! Mary Travers Rest in Peace.

  • Which single of that song reached at?

  • Mary Travers brought us joy. A folk legend like John Denver and George Harrison and The Mamas and Papas. She used her music to deliver a message--never violence. We'll carry her memory.

  • Thanks Mary .. saw u 3x in concert ... you and Peter and Paul meant so much to me in my teenage years.

  • R.I.P Mary.... @>----)-----

  • Mary, R.I.P.

  • I want to see Peter, Paul, & Mary perform one last time.

  • What a great song that had a big influence on me in my early Twenties. Her voice was rich, and so evocative of that era.

As my sister remarked tonight, so many icons of our youth are passing . . the subtle chill of history . . . and I lurch toward old age . . .

  • RIP

  • Goodbye, Mary. We'll miss you.

  • I am sitting here in shock after learning of Mary Travers' passing. I just want to hear her voice one more time, or perhaps many more times. Thank you, thank you, Mary, and Peter and Paul as well for standing up for love, justice, and peace.

  • I cry as I write this ... what a huge loss. God Bless you, Mary, for your talent and, even more, for all you gave to this world.

This world will not be the same without your presence in it. What a beautiful voice and spirit ...

    we will miss you, Mary.

  • Goodbye Mary. We will miss you.

    LStrong

  • RIP Mary T...

  • What a beautiful lady she was (inside and out)... Her Legend will live on.. The "L" deserves to be capitalized

    :]

  • I had no idea that Mary Travers died of leukemia today.

  • RIP, Mary. We'll miss you.

  • Lovely Mary.

  • Mary has such a beautiful voice . Hopefully she will be able to sing with Peter and Noel Paul again soon.

  • Mary is very sick, watching her on stage she was so alive with her flowing blond hair, she was and is something very special, may God be with her

  • My friends in high school (80's) used to laugh while thumbing through my records...Ozzy...Black Sabbath... Deep Purple... MARY TRAVERS...Ronnie James Dio....I love Mary's voice, one of my favorite female vocalists of all time.

  • I have loved peter, paul and mary for a long time. the first time I saw them in concert was 1970. I have seen them twice since. I think this should be a 5 star song. mary sings it beautiful.

  • Erika with the windy yellow hair..??

  • i know this song from a film, "Star", starring jennie garth. i just found a very short version of this song from the film:( if somebody has a longer one (when she sings the full song..) could you just upload it? it'd be soooo great:)

    thanx
