Yes, but it's quite different than n the 70s. Much smaller, most of them lt, and the rest, I recal hearing, had to get jobs off the farm. They have to work o pay off theire dept. The whole thing of supporting themselves never worked. It was an ilusion. It was an experiment that failed.
I went there in 76 at 13. My memories include:. They tooe in Juvenile delinquents, and misfits, smoked pot in front of them, and expect them not to smoke any. They kicked them all off when that failed. They ate nothng but soy beans, pepsi and cookies. After 5 months, I had anemia. I had to sneak through the woods to visit the hillbilly neighbors to beg for healthy food. Tthey were writing a book on natual birth control, but the women got pregnant every year.
Just borrowed a copy Gaskin's Haight Ashbury Flashbacks, got moved and Googled this up. It's so good to see a continuum of what shaped most of my 56 years on the planet. PLD
Thanks for the beautiful film. Ran into the Caravan in DC (1971? 72?) after tripping all night on the DC Mall. Talking to those cats was the best acid I never took! Love to you all.
I saw Stephen the first time in Boulder in '72, and the next time in Omaha in '75 I believe it was. I went down to the farm in Summertown TN and stayed there for a few days. Really didn't like eatin' soybean sandwiches on white bread with ketcup though. LOLOLOL!! But loved the scene there, and really dug the Plenty project. What is the status of that these days, and the farm too?
My parents were close friends of a younger couple who had lived on the farm. Much inspired by the good news from St. Stephen. Farm wisdom became part of my zeitgeist...for better and for worse.
I was at the Monday Night Classe in San Francisco in 69-70. I never encountered another person like Stephen. The things I learned from him have served me well in the ensuing (almost!) 40 years. He is fearless. He has an ironclad commitment to the truth and to nonviolence. I truly love this man. Having been at his classes those many years ago (to me anyway) is like having heard Jesus give the Sermon on the Mount. Its basically the same thing: how we should be with each other. Thank you, Stephen!
I was born on the farm aug 24 1973 dilivered by Ina may gaskin and lived there till 1979 I have many memories of the farm as a little kid and am planning to go visit with my family sometime soon. It is so great that I can see this footage and learn more about the amaizing tribe I come from!!

My mom lived on this Farm from 1972-1983. This is where she met my "dad" and I was conceived.
