  • this is to be sung at my wake

  • I love David Paton. He has that sweet look in his eyes and it adds so much to the song. I love the tone of his voice. Just beautiful.

  • My wife turned me on to the Project, and this was the first song I remember listening to - David Paton is a miracle. I just love this. Thank you for posting. I wish I could have seen and heard this live.

  • Thanks David Paton for this moment!

In Portugal your work with Alan parsons and Camel is talking and apreciate!

  • Nic e...b ut sorry-I prefer the version sung by COln Blunstone ofthe Zombies..it just has the more eathereal and wistful sound... I wsh someone would release a nice cover (with vocals) of Ammonia Avenue !

  • Wow...absolutely awesome! Damn...I'm speechless.

  • David is awesome,This and Children of the moon too.

  • I would love this song played at my passing ceromony...!

  • que bonitos recuerdos me trae esta canción espero que siempre estés bien David Hernandez Franco te amare siempre!!!

  • Real Classic! Unique melody

  • it´s very very very special...

  • Don't need any more words : this sounds heavenly !

  • Very Nice!!! My heart Is So happy

  • Last time Alan used an 'auld' member for this yin... and WHAT A MEMBER!!!

  • @220773 Can you hear his Scottish vowels here? And tae thoooooooose I left beheynd... GREAT DAVIE LADDIE!!!

  • This is a stunning performance and shows just how talented David Paton is.I have been a fan of APP and Pilot for over 30 years and this, for me, is a holy grail video needless to say!!Love the song and the band sounds superb! Thanks for sharing it!!

  • Not bad at all...one of my favorite songs. A very good job with the vocals, but I am quite biased, and lean heavily toward Colin Blunstone's version. Even better than the original, is the live version . Check it out...it's absolutely amazing!

  • WELL DONE MICHELLE

  • A good Project ;-)

  • David Paton is definitely a brillant musician and great singer as well, very fine job with APP, great contribution with Camel as well !!! Was it a night of the proms show ?

  • Could this be a Richard Keys & Andy Gray theme tune?

  • Did David Paton sing on the original recorded version too?

  • @WilburyVision no colin blunstone did the original album vocals to old and wise, david played bass on the eye in the sky album he and eric apparently had a falling out when eric called him about recording dates for gaudi paton took elton johns offer to play bass live with him so the last project album david was on was stereotomy eric then took on bassist laurie cottle for gaudi.

  • This is such a beautiful song. Ive been following David Paton & Pilot since the start and have always loved their brand of clever and catchy pop. BUT its only recently that I have started to go back through the APP catalogue and have discovered some simply stunning music, thank you so much guys , very best wishes to you all xx

  • @Edman910 loved david when he was in bay city rollers went to see him every week. i always knew he was special,,, loved him singing ....my house is a very very fine house..... im just thankful for youtube to find him again.... hese my no 1

  • @M1SSMAGIC --Thats the wonderful thing about You Tube --you can pretty much find any of your favourites going back a long time on here and its so wonderful being able to listen to them again after such a long time.......... Best regards..... Edman x

  • If i need a boost i play one of pilots, and i am transcended back to the happy care free days of my youth, where my lost friends are found, where i can say wont you dance with me,where i can paint my face if i choose, and still be Happy if i loose, and still see innocence, trust,a future, and my MAM still making my tea,Dave Paton God bless.

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever written....

  • I keep paying homage to this video - It's a place that gives me comfort like visiting an old & wise friend!

  • Truly perfect delivery. I grew up with A.P.P. when most of my friends were listening to Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc.. I found such deeper meaning in APP works that my friends never did understand.

It is true that music like this just isn't produced anymore. Maybe someday I'll get to experience this music live...

  • @raysot- I was in the same boat as you. While my friends listened to the rock groups I turned my stereo up in my 70 Javelin listening to APP... next thing you know my other friends were doing the same thing. There are good groups and SUPER groups such as APP! I have most of their records.

  • I was too young to see David, and many others like Lenny Z, perform. I was lucky to see Ian, who performed in Toronto, with Alan, a while back. I miss you all.... ut thank you.

  • @WaxLonghorn As in 1990 there was no internet, also older fans didn't know about these concerts, the only occasion which featured so many original APP members.

Lenny is currently doing some concerts featuring a mostly APP setlist, partially in tribute to Eric. I'm just back from London where he did a wonderful show. Check youtube(dot)com/LennyZakatek and facebook(dot)com/LennyZakatek. There are rumours about possible USA/Canada dates next year.

  • they're playin your theme tune @Lord_Sugar

  • thank you it is great paul4483

  • That's Richard "trix" Cottle on the sax. Very nice!!

  • daves also given fantastic input to CAMEL over the years

  • The song; the vocalist; the band; the orchestra; the performance = just perfect

thanks for putting this one up Michelle

  • This is the music I want on my Telly every night!

  • Where's Eric Woolfson, considering this statement:

"This was the only concert in which the Project performed with original name, formation and roles"?

  • @Burqua12 Click "all comments" and scroll down to my other replies

  • Was this a full concert? Is it available on DVD?

I ask because it looks to me like minus Eric Woolfson, the entire original band was here and i would love to see a REAL Alan Parsons concert.

  • @maxwelljrdn

eric woolfson liked the comfort and control of a studio enviroment he never played live on this concert clip eric was there but more in a managerial capacity behind the scenes

  • mejor mel collins con diferencia!!

  • i remember david back many years like him and gordon and not to forget billy who passed he was brill on keyboards they wr original bay city rollers david u wr wise to leave ,,, u wr true bay city rollers and alan and derek god bless i still rem at ur mums door in fountainbridge tc u r the best

  • Wow!

    Really great members!!!!

  • The expression at 0:53 conveys all the emotion for taking on stage for the 1st time with this hit. This was the first Alan Parsons concert and the only one billed as "The Alan Parsons Project" - the only one featuring nearly the same formation as on the albums. David Paton never played live again with APP.

    Beautiful version of the song.

  • Comment removed

  • @nigelo92 Why not? he makes the best version of this song.

  • Beautiful song . Dave does a beautiful job on this track.

    Great atmosphere.

    Dave

  • David Paton on vocals and Ian Bairson on guitar.both two were Pilot last line-up only.

  • "Pilot" and "Alan Parsons" what a combination!! Makes todays tone deaf idiots look like a complete bunch of amatures!!!

  • I recall that Alan Parsons Project made use of about 3 members from Pilot for a number of years. But then Alan was the producer of Pilot too!

  • @georgebur all 4 of them actually, on 1st album. For more info about APP members check youtube(dot)com/APpfanChannel

  • Fantastic from Davie Paton what a singer great to see the Pilot boys contributing to a great piece of music

The APP was a great project

    Chris Turner

  • This is just amazing. I've always been a fan of Pilot and David Paton - this rendition of the song with David is truly wonderful and moving. Great saxophone at the end...thank you for sharing it. x

  • David Paton isnt that bad looking lol

  • He's gorgeous! ;-)

  • Great version of this song. Alan Parsons is a genius at picking the right vocalist for his selected works. Also, another fantastic SAX player in the APP lineup.

Is this show available on DVD?

  • @vegasco1 not to be picky but its their sellected works not forgetting lyricists manager writer vocalists pianists eric woolfson

  • @azzorroww ... and first of all, THE composer of the APP.. ;)

  • David Paton ROCKS, to everyone that don´t know him, take a look on Pilot songs.

  • His work with Elton JOhn was also great.

  • One of the best Bass lines Dave has done with Elton John is on Nikita.

I have that on Now 6 on Vinyl lol!

  • @chipset65 He also had a spell with Elton John circa "Philadophia Freedom" period.

  • This is so beautiful.

    I really love david's vocal delievery .

He really works great with allan parson.

    Dave

  • Hi Dave,

Thank you for your lovely comment. David made such a fine contribution to the AP Project. The way he sings this beautiful song moves me very much.

    Michelle xxxx

  • Wot no Colin Blunstone ??? Never mind David also did the song justice

  • This is fantastic, Dave in his prime and I'm sure there is plenty more up his sleeve.

    Get well soon Dave

    Jamie McDonald

  • Any more excerpts from the same gig? this is what had to be released instead of 'Alan Parsons Live' in 1995...

  • This an aberration! ..this line-up must be the nearest ever to the one(s) committed on tape, bar Eric! ..also in 1990 the Project was over, the band carried on and Freudiana was released but David last contribution was on Stereotomy, 3 years back! ..original singer of Old and Wise was ex-zombie Colin Blunstone, but it would have been too much..

  • Hi Bungalow Bill, all you wrote is correct, and Eric was there, but behind the scenes and, if I remember well, was involved in the concert as manager. It was the only concert presented and billed as "The Alan Parsons Project". All the regular musicians of the studio band were there and vocalists featured on other songs Lenny Zakatek and Gary Brooker. This was also the only AP concert in which Powell directed an orchestra. PS I hope you wrote "aberration" in positive sense..

  • Hey sei Italiano!

  • Thank you from me too...for a glimpse at what I missed in Antwerp 1990! Very nice indeed :)

  • Very Nice song

Is that Ian brianson on guitar there?

  • Hi Nigel,

Yes that is Ian on guitar. This concert must have been amazing. Wish I'd been there!

    Michelle

  • Beauty personified!

  • The expression at 0.55 conveys all the emotion for taking on stage for the 1st time this hit. • Good Stuff. Are there anymore David Paton / Alan Parsons Project videos. It just seems that he receives little credit for his contributions to this band. Maybe it's just me.

  • This was the only live performance involving Alan Parsons and David Paton. David can be seen in video with the Project also in the Games People Play videoclip (see on this channel).

  • quite agree , david is beyond words

    suex

  • Hello all...another masterpiece from the special man (with help from others)...essential cd for your collections is The Essential Alan Parsons Project...amazing music!

Lots of signs of David's Pilot days in this filmclip don't you think....

Talk about "easy on the eyes..."

    Love

    Michelle XX

  • This stirs up so many emotions words just can't describe the feelings. Beautiful beyond description. David Paton is a human work of art, the sound and picture of perfection!

  • Wonderful, beautiful, to me David must be lead vocal in all APP´songs and i wanna to get others videos like this. Thanks Michelle you are a very luck fan you are so close with David, i´m envy.

    Thanks from Brazil.

  • Brilliant Michelle, thanx very much
