although when i was born i was too friggin big to fit thru so the doctor put my mom on anesthesia and cut her stomach and then took me out. lol. she woke up with me in already put in a blanket.

Nothing wrong with including other children in the birthing process!

Birth is the most natural thing on this entire planet and making it a family affair is beautiful.

The child crying was worried for his mama, he will NOT suffer mental problems from it. Ridiculous even suggesting it.

@fluffymum101 well it's for sure that i will never show my son how i'm giving birth to his sister... in my opinion this is hard to watch for adults, so why should a little child watch it??? Sex is the most natural thing in the world too, but parents don't show to their children how they do it. children should not me involved in this. and yes maybe it could cause a spiritual damage in the child... the blood that they see and than seeing their mom suffer, it is a shock itself.

congratulations on a successful delivery. wouldn't have wanted her other children to be there...it just doesn't seem right. i don't think they understand what's happening at this point...i don't know what the impact is for the children to see their mother in pain like that, with them seeing the blood and all...broke my heart when one the kid was asking her if she was alright and also when the other one cried...however, it takes a good parent to explain this to their children though. good luck!

there is nothing wrong with having your older children at the birth. not as though it is sexual or anything. its a new life being brought into the family. i liked how one of the brothers got to cut the cord :) well done, what a beautiful birth. congrats

It's not sick or wrong, to let your children watch the birth, perhaps a little unorthodox, but it's their choice.

- It might be a little scary for the little one who doesn't understand but everyone was there to tell the older children that mum was ok, she wasn't hurt or worried.

The older children seemed worried at first about mum being ok but with reassurance from the midwife they seemed to calm down.

She did a great job and was really in control, hardly vocal, though you could tell from her expressions and posture how uncomfortable she was. It seemed like the head crowning was really difficult for her, look at her at 1:21-1:48, she seemed very uncomfortable, 2:34 seemed really hard also. Her husband was really helpful. 1:26 and 1:35 looked like strong contractions.

It is fine for kids to watch. as long as they have the option to leave if they wish, which is something that homebirth parents are fully prepared for

I find it interesting that the woman felt the need to wear a shirt, but left her lower half exposed. Also hearing that tiny child crying and afraid was very disturbing. What were they thinking. these children are too young to actually comprehend what is actually going on.

i don't agree with them being there. but all they are seeing is mommy in pain. you can tell them what is going on. say this is what momma is doing and she'll be alright. they where probably told what is going to happen, but it all went out of their mind when they saw her like that. all they know is that the person they look to for guidance is in pain and they don't want them to go through that.
