dragon ball and dragon ball z are completely different, dragonball is based around goku and his adventures with his newfound friends, dragon ball z and kai are based more about the saiyans as a race and is more about saving the world then destroying minor evils like in dragonball

Well Dragon Ball and DBZ were alot different, its not fair to compare them. Dragon Ball was more of an adventure show that included some fighting while dbz was ONLY fighting. I mean, once you can fly around the world in a minute theres not much adventure left to have.

In terms of over all quality I liked Dragonball more than Z.(I like them both)

Dragonball felt like an adventure where it took forever to find a dragonball and when you did it was guarded by a Trex with a football helmet.

And the fights were...actual fights that incorporated martial arts. There were crazy elements to them but there was still martial arts.

Apposed to the majority of DBZ fights which came down to flurries of kicks and punches shouting, energy blasts and breaking rocks

todays kid will never know. before Naruto, bleach etc, there was a prehistoric time in american anime. as kids we rushed home, running to our tv shows waiting anxiously for Toonami to see each new episode of Dragonball. When subs didn't exist, when nothing but Toonami did. we came home with a big smile on our face after daydreaming in school how each new episode would turn. Thank you Toonami. Thank you Dragonball. And most of all thank you Akira Toryiama for giving us an amazing childhood.!

Remaking the show from the ground up with new animation should have been done instead of reusing the old animation but I can live with that. I'm surprised alot of dbz fans still prefer their original series full of crappy amounts of filler. Don't get me wrong I love Z but the annoying amounts of filler and useless moments added in really slowed the pacing the down and made it drag on more than it needed to. Kai removes the filler and brings the pacing much closer to the manga

This is it. This started it all. My first anime ever. This show got me into anime, this show made me smile when I was sad, this show made me utter "Kamehameha" along with Little Goku. Watching this opening brings tears of nostalgia to my eyes. Screw Dragonball Z Kai, Dragonball will always be my favorite anime!
