I agree. The combination of drums and brass is fantastic on this piece of music and the payoff following the breakdown in the middle is so uplifting. This is a tune that brings this fully grown man to tears of joy. Such a shame this style of orchestra is out of vogue and so expensive to maintain. I'm glad it brings you some joy too.
Oh god I can't believe I found this, anyone remember around 00.30 mark they would have highlights of the goals with Johnathan Pearce those were the days :(
Foxhall Stadium Ipswich, sometime in the mid to late 70's. Tiger Louis has won the second half Champion Of The Evening again, beating Billy Sanders and Shrimp Davey. With a cheque for £30 from a local sponsor (used car dealer or cafe owner usually) and a bottle of Pomagne, he is taken round on a lap of honour. Happy days!!
Brilliant! Pure nostalgia...this was the ITV theme tune for the 1974 World Cup....Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Neeskens. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Cor! I remember this catchy little piece from when Capital Gold Sport, (Capital Gold, in London, on 1548 A.M.), used it as their theme tune, WAY back in the bloody day! Gorblimey! Sweet, sweet memories of my teen years! :)
@m13618 Blimey! Now, that was WAY back in the bleedin' day, and I remember it well- (I was in me mid teens and still at school at the time of them programmes!) Gordon Bennett, don't I feel bloody old now?! Oh, the good old days! Sweet, sweet memories! :)
This is superb. My favourite ever sports theme. Generally relegated (arf!) to local sports radio hell (Clyde 1) when it should rightly be propelled into the Saturday afternoon consciousness of the sports viewing populace.
Oh brilliant, brings back memories of the brilliant Capital Gold sports show on a Saturday with Jonathan Pearce
