Tabari isn't Quran, he's a historian and scholar who wrote an exegesis book a little over 200 years after the revelation of the Quran had been concluded.
One of the main reasons I find Islam works for me as opposed to Christianity for example is that in Islam there is no Original Sin or Salvation and nobody is ever punished or rewarded for something that somebody else has done, so I would really highly doubt the truth in that quote (especially since "scholars" have often had a tendency to integrate Christian and Jewish traditions into their interpretation of Islam and Tabari is no exception).

As someone who has actually driven in the middle east, I can't in all honesty bring myself to support your campaign. The focus should not be on achieving equality by allowing women to drive, but by banning all the men. They shouldn't be allowed within a hunddred yards of an internal combustion engine believe me.

But today, we have a black president and lots of black professors in our top universities. There is no logical reason not to let a woman drive. I'm sure you'll have some convoluted and contrived scenario that involves a woman getting into trouble as a result of her driving, but the likelihood of something bad happening because women can drive is very very small.

One of the main reasons I find Islam works for me as opposed to Christianity for example is that in Islam there is no Original Sin or Salvation and nobody is ever punished or rewarded for something that somebody else has done, so I would really highly doubt the truth in that quote (especially since "scholars" have often had a tendency to integrate Christian and Jewish traditions into their interpretation of Islam and Tabari is no exception).

That was my first assumption, but I didn't want to talk without having any back up, so after over an hour of research (because it isn't in the introduction, which is what I assumed the "i" in I:280 refers to, and there are only seven verses in the first chapter in the Quran, so it wasn't in the exegesis of chapter one, and page 280 said absolutely nothing of Eve, and I couldn't find it in the book of tafsir/exegesis of the Quran...

It is the men who are responsible for the harassment of women so go and tell them this. I am fully aware of what happens to women in SA!!
