  • Dear acta, you can take away my internet but have fun taking away my guns, im sure im not alone on this. You don't have enough pigs to pull it off

  • HA!!! I was never asked by ANYONE what I thought of ACTA. I had NO idea there was even such an International agreement tabled. I call Clement's words PURE BULL HOCKEY!!

  • THEY SIGNED THE ACTA AGREEMENT ON OCTOBER 1st. WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • Subservient my ass, you fuckers.

  • I hope we go back to the poles. The cons got too go

  • Harper will win a majority.

  • @majortuff I'm not so sure. For his sake, he probably has to, if he wants to maintain his leadership of the conservative party. It was embarrassing that he wasn't able to pull it off on a liberal leader so pathetic as dion.

  • Transparency, does it even exist? The Canadian public is left in the dark on this issue.

"That the fact of the matter is Mr Speaker, Anything that goes on in ACTA is compleately subserviant to what we as parliamentrians descide on this issue"... that right there speaks to me, Isin't partliament supposed to represent the interest of Canadian's? If we don't know.. how can we say?

Where did democracy go? </3 I heard of what it was supposed to be, but I just don't see it anymore.

  • Clement lies.

  • Shit needs transparency and the public should have some say in the matter. FUCK these corporate assholes. They all looking like two timing weasels who feed off the poor.

  • This makes the British House of Commons look like a bunch of noisy children.

  • We are prorogued right now, buys some time. I am meeting with my mp soon about this subject.

  • The government and the people of the entertainment industry will succeed in passing the ACTA because not enough people gives a fuck about this situation. Even when ACTA becomes law and thousands of people lose their internet connection, there still won't be enough people to give a shit about this situation. So to bring details of the anti-counterfeit trade agreement to the public won't make a difference because nobody gives a shit.

  • excuse me not minister of industry, that charlie clemets guy.

  • i trust that minister of industry. Iam american, but honestly i think his speculation acts more in favor for us all internationally. ACTA is a crime. Anyone supporting ACTA does not advocate democracy, no matter what the issue is. We are citizens and we need to have a voice. This international group should have no voice in our affairs, neither should orgs like the UN. Why should a group of foreigners decide my rights?. CANADA \say NO.

  • Bill C-61 was ACTA in disguise and it's going to be passed very soon come January.

Canada, the USA, and the rest of the world will become the Intellectual Property of the powerful lobbyists of the RIAA, MPAA, and CRIA.

  • @XionXXXX Then people need to resort to violent actions. At least canada has parlimentarians who will debate their commitment to it. This is not so in the US. ACTA can be passed without any legislation here. By definition , this is called treason and with that carries the penalty of death. This is the law and any persons found responsible for this shall be put to death. KILL THEM< this is protected speech here because its the law.

  • They want the right to prosecute you without any due process and want the power to set legal action forward with no evidence. See this is how intelligent they are.coorporations have become the law because the burden of evidence does not apply to them. thus progress and competition is squashed because it affects their dollar. This is why ACTA doesnt belong under any NGO. Because its about buisiness.

  • @XionXXXX, well Harper went prorogue, so it won't be January, but it will be soon.

  • From what I've read, it won't be until later this year that the ACTA will come into full effect.

  • CBC news radio this weekend is gonna do a news story on the ACTA this weekend.

  • The PC government has said nothing public on the ACTA. I follow the ACTA like white on rice.

  • Has ACTA passed yet? I saw a YouTube video that said it has.

  • It hasn't. If he did, I wouldn't be on the internet now,

  • Clement is such a BS liar, the only consultations that the acta has had is with the MPAA and the RIAA. This guy lies so much now it sickens me to the very core. Im never gonna vote for the PC's again since they are full of the old reform party members.

  • Down with ACTA! It is not necessary, Canadians don't want it, its a threat to our rights, and we should be making our own copyright laws based on the copyright consultation's findings...not based on US corporate wishes.

I go to Michael's blog daily and I am very thankful it exists to expose these goons in power, but shouldn't my Government be giving me information on treaties like this directly rather than through a blog built upon leaks and rumours?

  • Angus asks ATCA to be tabled and Clement's reply is to go to Micheal Geist's website?! What the hell?! It's Clement's responsibility to WORK FOR AND INFORM THE PEOPLE!

And btw from my understanding of to the leaked ACTA negotiations watching this video would be illegal, and thus your first strike.

    Fucking shameful.

  • It almost seems like the public copyright consultations where just a sham; a piece of political theatre designed to create the illusion that voices of Canadians were being listened to by the government while they were working on ACTA in the background, negating the entire outcome of those consultations.

  • Good point. Looks like ACTA will come into play no matter what we do. Say goodbye to the internet.

  • Well, I'm nervous to what they will agree to before let 'us' know all the deets.
