  • Thanks for the upload!

  • Two great voices on JCS, Ian Gillian AND Murray Head.

  • This album blowed my mind away i was 13 or 14 years old.

  • There is NO OTHER VOICE like Ian Gillian.

  • @jazzzzzzzzz42 Watch that occupy stuff,we DO sound like them...listen to Blood money and drive the money exchangers for the Temple brother.

  • The mob sound like the "occupiers"

  • At the end, he sounds like "No! I just my nails down! Leave me alone!"

  • I bought the studio recording of J.C.S. in 1970, and saw the stage show in London, at least three times. Nobody has done better than Victor Spinetti. I still have the l.p. Dominic.

  • We had this version on 8-track in the 1970s and would play it on the stereo while we were getting the house cleaned and ready for Easter. Every time I hear it I think of those great Easters in the 1970s!

  • right

  • LOVE IT LOVE IT ITS JUST THAT SIMPLE BOUGHT IT IN THE EIGHTIES NEVER TIRED OF IT

  • At first I thought he said ''Kill yourselves'' (at the end).

  • still the best pice of music ever written

  • Any kick-ass rock song in 7/8 time is fine with me!

  • 1:51 to the end is the best part! :) The other thing is also great! ;)

  • Ian rocks. Both Gillan and Curits.

  • there aint nothing like jesus with a baseball bat doing a buford pusser in the temple. jesus the asskicker.

  • yet another badass tune that I listened to and jammed with as a beginner bass player back when i first learned to play in the late 70s.

  • I'm wondering at the fact the lyrics change from the song to the musical to another.

"Come on in for the price is down" (1970)

    to

"Come on in to Jerusalem" (1973)

    Interesting?

  • that high note at the end gives me chills

  • We've got an old record player at home and we just fixed it, and it's become tradition to listen to this EVERY Easter! The 1970 version is just the best (I don't think any of the others are good. Counting to the fact that I was really small when I heard it the first time and I was really scared for poor Jesus!)

  • I recorded vinyl album and used WMM to listen on my computer. I got the movie, but this soundtrack is way better if not what they call the definitive version.

  • Awesome guitar riffs. Reason I started playing. Yay!

  • Incredibly beautiful voice.

  • 3:26-4:43 best part.

  • MUST.

    MAKE.

    GMOD VIDEO WITH THIS.

  • BUT YOU HAVE MADE IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! A DEN OF THIEVES!!!!!!!! People misuse the word EPIC all the time. But Ian's screams are the definition of epic, because it makes me want to slay dragons.

  • Oh yes, Ian Gillan would have been terrific in the movie, I think. By far the best voice for Christ!

  • @Lil1943 absolutely I have bought many LPs wore them out...of the original score...movie soundtrack does not even compare....but now 2010...reprise it...Adam lambert...could mimic the voice and scream...lol

  • @monae1957 Adam Lambert. NO NO NO! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!! Puke!

  • my sister had the original I bought a reproduction, same great music

  • Everybody says "ohh too bad Ian Gillian didnt do the movie" i say "Thank God Gillian didnt do the movie...no wonder he didnt..that shit sucks...In my opinion an im sure theres a few that will agree with me...There is only 1 Jesus Christ Superstar..and that is the Original, Original, Original....If you dont believe me just put the timer on this video to exactly 2 minutes....haha

  • @ericcivitello If you mean the awesome high not at 2 minutes, you just proved the Gillian is the best singer to ever play this role.

  • @ericcivitello Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Time Rice were on the BBC this week discussing this very song and I'm afraid they also disagree with you!! Oh, and in case you didn't realise THIS IS the original.

  • @ericcivitello you don't know how dumb you look saying this is not the original...lol

  • GIIILLAAAAAAAANNNN!!! CRYYY!!!

  • I love Ian Gillan's voice. He's one of the reasons I started to sing myself.. Best JCS ever! ;)

  • I LOVE this song! *dances*

  • i never liked it... i thought it made Jesus look unholy... but I LOVE THE MUSIC!!!!!

  • @LovableChaos

there is power in the name of Jesus

  • Iown the original

  • Heal Yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is really epic on stage. i saw it once, and i can still remember how cool it was

  • @alucardlanaki I would love to see the performance! I am partial to the album version but live would be awesome.

  • @Db60Dc19 i saw on the local stage. they had people crawling on the stage towards him....it was the best part

  • I love the part that starts @ 2:53

See my eyes I can hardly see, see me stand I can hardly walk, I believe you can make me whole, see my tongue I can hardly talk.......See my skin i'm a mass of blood, see my legs I can hardly stand, I believe you can make me well, see my purse i'm a poor poor man....

  • I wish I could see y our school's performance. Whereabouts is your school?

  • I was there - about age 8 - I have never stopped loving it!! That's when I fell in love with Jon English!!

  • I still have the 8-track and the vinyle, Excellent album!

  • he was basically a ninja. (check out 1:51 - 2:11). <3

  • I ordered this album in the 70's when I was 13 (ya know, the Columbia house offer where you get like 50 albums for a penny--got in trouble later when my mom got a bill for $300, oops)....Well, this soundtrack was one of them and I loved it since way back then. Whenever I hear another version or the performances from the movie version with Ted Neely, it just doesn't compare to the original! Ian Gillan is a rock god with one of the most incredible voices ever!

  • @artemisthehuntress I agree this is my favorite version, maybe because it is the first one I heard. I didnt hear it for the first time until 1992 though LOL

  • @artemisthehuntress I had this album given to me by my brother who is ten years older than me, I had no idea who Ian Gillan was or what a great recording this is! Sold it in a family garage sale for two bucks, or something idiotic like that, like I said, I was like 8 or 9, and I was a neophyte as far as music was concerned! I only found out just now that Ian Gillan was Jesus on this album! Gonna go buy it asap!

  • @artemisthehuntress I agree wholeheartedly! Same deal with the record deal! ha! And I have stated the same feelings recently regarding Ian Gillan... He can scream like no other....Love this whole album.. it takes me back to when I was 14?? I can't remember. Because it's timeless, really...

  • @artemisthehuntress Well, we appreciate,. it. This is the original, and only, version.

  • @artemisthehuntress thats the tryth other versions almost make you cringe a little.

  • @artemisthehuntress truth rather

  • @artemisthehuntress my uncle bought this album for me in the 70's. I love Ian Gillian voice

  • To sing this notationally is amazing, but to deliver it like that is impossible!

  • 3 more tracks and you're done with the first record! Thank you for uploading this amazing album!

  • I can sing Ians part

  • No One,that doesn't leave much room for error does it?

  • NO ONE touches the voice of Ian Gillian! Pity he couldn't come to terms to do the movie too.

  • @Db60Dc19 Deep Purple contractual obligations wouldn't allow Gillian to perform in the movie

  • love this song!!

  • Ian Gillan!!!! :D .

Ohhyeah, his screams are legend ;) .

  • is that 7/8 time?

  • Yep.

  • actually, i got the score- its fast 7/4...but its pretty much the same i guess.
