i bough both new 2011 edition playstation 3 slim and xbox 360 slim i have a black and white controller for each of them and a copy of modern war fare 3 and battlefield 3 and black ops and many more games for each console i have both of them hooked up to my 42 inch philips LCD tv with 1080p and 120hz refresh speed with hdmi cable for each console and the graphics are almost the same u can barely see no differance me personaly id go with the playstation 3 more because its free to game online
Only thing that held me back from purchasing a PS3 is the controller. I grew up with a PS1, so I'm sure I can get used to it again. XBOX has great online, but paying for the XBL to only know you have to pay for 99% of everything INSIDE of XBL is robbery. You think paying $60 for a game would cover the online.

xbox 360 has hardly any different games on it that ps3 has, 360 has a stupid online fee, much stricter moderation as I heard people getting suspended off it much easier.
xbox 360 don't have blu-ray that ps3 does. xbox 360 can't take normal huge sized 2.5 inch laptop hard drives. I got a Samsung 620gb in my PS3 slim

I have a jasper xbox 360 and tommorow i will be getting a 160GB PS3 Slim and i'll be comparing which is better but i personally prefer the dashboard/home screen/layout of xbox LIVE to PSN but it is a downer for the £40 fee for membership and PSN's free so that is very good and i'll be saving money for not buying LIVE. Xbox's do scratch disks only if you move it fast or hit the xbox or drop something on it.
1. If you're a hardcore home theater enthusiast you're not watching movies on a gaming console to begin with.
2. If you do not wish to pay for online play, fine, nothing wrong with that. The same argument is applied to MMOs though; you're paying to keep the servers maintained. I don't know of any free MMOs > WoW. Ping is everything, and XBL wins hands down here. Quality over quantity.
3. If you already own a PS2 and PSP, okay, nothing wrong here.

I'm talking about the quality of the online experience. e.g. PSN vs Steam: Steam has dedicated servers so pings are generally going to be better. Not every game uses listen servers. Each online service greatly differs from one another and that alone can result in different ping, choke, and loss when compared to the other service(s) simply because the service and its technicalities are different.
What console is better... I've come to find that both of the consoles have their ups and downs, but naturally people are going to say what they own is better. I just don't understand why we have to fight about it. Play what you wanna play simple as that it's not rocket science.

I've recently invested my money into the 160gb Play station 3 slim for the Uncharted games, Heavy rain and MGS 3 plus I want to give little big planet a shot.
I also own a 360 but I've lost love for it. Not a lot brings me back to since I own a gaming PC.
I'm not a PS3 fanboy but if you want a better quality system, you might wanna go for a PS3. People like fixing things I guess... Not a huge thing for me. I know XBOX does have better content but why pay for online when you can get free online and not have to worry about whether it's worth buying xbox live if you don't even play.
PSN was down for 2 weeks.........thats the only negative thing you hear against playstation Microsoft had the ring of death, over heating problems, strange on and off lags and a netflix system that never works when you want to watch a movie.
@Gamesheep11 If you really want to know the truth, Xbox 360's Live causes more lag than PSN. Because Xbox live doesn't have dedicated servers, but servers considered "God servers", which means they are only on one place in USA, washington, Texas, California and New York. Those are all the servers. why on PSN, there are things called dedicated servers which are scattered wherever by how much money the developers of the video games have. so with call of duty, you'll get a better connection.

The xbox is (or was) when the HD dvds were out. i must admit, the gaming on xbox is better. I guess blu-ray is more effective to different people. and anyway, the games i enjoy are creative. And only minecraft, lbp2 and zoo tycoon have forfilled that.

theres really nothing to say about the two. i have both and there both awesome systems and i play both im happy to have them in fact, when you pay for online though you get more for your money. like free netflix and live tv, party chat with friends when playing diff. games. youtube shortcut, voice controlled, awesome market place with indi games, arcade, xbox orginals and xbox 360 games. one more thing all DLC earlier. ps3 is still good though i would recommend either or there both good

I have a jasper xbox 360 and tommorow i will be getting a 160GB PS3 Slim and i'll be comparing which is better but i personally prefer the dashboard/home screen/layout of xbox LIVE to PSN but it is a downer for the £40 fee for membership and PSN's free so that is very good and i'll be saving money for not buying LIVE. Xbox's do scratch disks only if you move it fast or hit the xbox or drop something on it.

1. If you're a hardcore home theater enthusiast you're not watching movies on a gaming console to begin with.
2. If you do not wish to pay for online play, fine, nothing wrong with that. The same argument is applied to MMOs though; you're paying to keep the servers maintained. I don't know of any free MMOs > WoW. Ping is everything, and XBL wins hands down here. Quality over quantity.
3. If you already own a PS2 and PSP, okay, nothing wrong here.
4. No point in doing this on a PS3.

I'm talking about the quality of the online experience. e.g. PSN vs Steam: Steam has dedicated servers so pings are generally going to be better. Not every game uses listen servers. Each online service greatly differs from one another and that alone can result in different ping, choke, and loss when compared to the other service(s) simply because the service and its technicalities are different.

I've recently invested my money into the 160gb Play station 3 slim for the Uncharted games, Heavy rain and MGS 3 plus I want to give little big planet a shot.
I also own a 360 but I've lost love for it. Not a lot brings me back to since I own a gaming PC.

I'm not a PS3 fanboy but if you want a better quality system, you might wanna go for a PS3. People like fixing things I guess... Not a huge thing for me. I know XBOX does have better content but why pay for online when you can get free online and not have to worry about whether it's worth buying xbox live if you don't even play.

@Gamesheep11 If you really want to know the truth, Xbox 360's Live causes more lag than PSN. Because Xbox live doesn't have dedicated servers, but servers considered "God servers", which means they are only on one place in USA, washington, Texas, California and New York. Those are all the servers. why on PSN, there are things called dedicated servers which are scattered wherever by how much money the developers of the video games have. so with call of duty, you'll get a better connection.

@juanacas100 They're roughly the same price, ps3 is cheaper if u take 90 less gb though. They have Slim consoles now, so there is no red ring for the xbox. The PS3 hasn't fixed the yellow ring problem with their Slim version.

PC = Blueray, DVD, Audio, High end graphics, No lag, Stable Connection, Upgradable, Useful for anything, use as a guitar AMP, entertainment system (games movies ect ect), Alarm, Updatable, Upgradable, Socializing, Study, Learning resorce, search advice+ more

However I dislike all the fanboys out there both are good in they're own way. I can name what is better at what but they both have exclusive games that are awsome. @frosting922 look i'm getting an xbox soon and i will probably be on your side then, but my family use a ps3 for family gaming and watching dvd's. we buy mostly blu-rays now and thats because its just that my family wants to keep up with the times. The xbox is (or was) when the HD dvds were out. i must admit, the gaming on xbox is better. I guess blu-ray is more effective to different people. and anyway, the games i enjoy are creative. And only minecraft, lbp2 and zoo tycoon have forfilled that.

theres really nothing to say about the two. i have both and there both awesome systems and i play both im happy to have them in fact, when you pay for online though you get more for your money. like free netflix and live tv, party chat with friends when playing diff. games. youtube shortcut, voice controlled, awesome market place with indi games, arcade, xbox orginals and xbox 360 games. one more thing all DLC earlier. ps3 is still good though i would recommend either or there both good
