Very good review! Ahh.. I love that game! Nearly all of my friends had it and I played it through so many times. Memories... I havent played rayman1 for almost 10 years now... Just hearing the music makes me feel kinda sad... But, Im gonna buy it soon from playstation network, cant wait! And cant wait to buy Rayman Origins either!

This was back in a time when game developers were trying to create solid, memorable projects(even if they know that some of the games they made don't sell). This seem like a very ambitiously made game(3D is good, but 2D is the best!).

Its kinda disapointing that you dont tell that much about the game the examples are great but you should really try things out the part where you last died is easy all you do is jump at the first platforms edge straight up and punch the little guys I never acyually got hurt in that part. Also it would have been nice if you would have shown all upgrades but then again if you dont get that far its kinda hard but you should have done it in my opinion.

Rayman 2 was originally going to be a sidescrolling platformer like Rayman is, but being the smart people they are (NOT!), they decided to switch to 3D. Rayman 2 is a mediocre game, but not all that bad.

You can actually kill the bug thing by:

1. Completely cornering it (against a wall and a low ceiling)

2. attacking it from the back

Is it impossible to play any further, if there are no continues left and only one life left?

i´m REALLY sorry but if you really learn the game- it is a really rewarding experiance - for real. i had it when i was ...5 i think and it was a really difficult game (my first btw^^) and um...it cheered up my childhood.

for me you would review castlevania the same way as this. just because its hard DOES NOT BY ANY MEANS mean that its a bad game. i love it you dont....obviously

ok. i love this game. you are a really bad reviewer. That bug is very killable fyi. and please dont tell me everything that kills you in a mario review it gets very annyoning. Try rating... sound... gameplay... repeat value.... graphics.... time of the game 1995 vs 2010 games.... how hard it is or easy... the password system is there for people who didnt have memory cards... back then it was uncommon to have one.

Lol you are really bad at this game. You can kill everything. Its gets rediculously hard. I would give it a 9, because of the broken password system. They save the amount of lives and health you have, and I don't think that is fair, since at one point I had 1 slot of health with 1 life, everytime I started the game.

'Rayman' also won the award for 'Best Music in a CD-ROM' & 'Best Animation' at a major 1995 Video Game Awards event! I'm so happy I found out these facts! This is like real justice! 'Tomb Raider' & 'GTA' were just passing crazes, nothing more. 'Rayman' is gold, a true classic & how can anyone not fall in love with such beautiful use of colours? I'm now 24, & have stopped playing games. But I have great memories of 'Rayman', Mega Drive games (especially the 1st 4 Sonic games) & Crash B. was okay.

@sripathyakasrip Thats pretty amazing, 5 million copies! Its hard to believe thats possible, I mean everyone knows GTA and Tomb Raider, but no-one seems to know Rayman, I find it quite astounding.

Hi Jim! I loved this game for it's graphics from the day I saw it! It was love at first sight! I was a heavy Mega Drive gamer & I refused to buy a Playstation until I saw Rayman in 2000/2001! Jim, 'Rayman' has officially sold 5 million copies in the UK, making it the best-selling Playstation one game of all time in Britain! It beat games like 'Tomb Raider', 'Gran Turismo' & 'GTA'! What a pile of overrated cow dung those games were! Always hated them! Fancy realism doesn't stand the test of time!

Why is it that whenever someone reviews Rayman, the reviewer makes mistakes when it comes to the enemies and winning? Is it really as unclear to most people as reviewers make it out to be? I never had any of that sort of trouble with it. :/

Well, for example, you say that you don't have to get all the cages, but you really do if you want to beat the final boss. And at 7:40 you say the enemy is unkillable, which is exaggerating a bit too much for anyone who hasn't played the game, since unkillable enemies can sometimes be turn-offs for new players. Heck, if you have a golden fist, it only takes two hits to kill them.

@pengin2008 It isn't on the wii shop channel, yes. But this game wasn't only released on the PS1, in fact it wasn't even originally released on the PS1. It was first on the Atari Jaguar and, according to wikipedia, the MS-DOS (don't know what that is...). Anyway it is on DSiWare and PlaystationNetwork for those who are wondering.

@DreamSnap MS-DOS is basically the basis of Microsoft operating systems. So that means basically that Rayman was also released for PC, if you get Rayman GOLD for PC, it also includes a level editor for making your own levels.
