  • This is an important book, and it's as easy to read as he makes it sound.

  • haaannnggg on. evolution doesnt say we are a perfect final product. quite the opposite.

the only people who SAY we are a perfect final result are those who are doin it wrong.

  • trevchar, you are sadly misinformed about what communism and socialism are. And you have no clue as to what makes a good tv show host/interviewer. The interviewer has to take the stance of the un-initiated viewer so he/she conducts the interview in a way that is most compatible to the viewing audience.

  • Anyone who believes socialism and communism are workable don't understand thing 1 about history. Marxism fails because we are not all alike. Some people have more drive and motivation than others and seek to improve their own situation through sheer grit, while others seek to live off of the sweat and work of others. Marxism can only work if all are brought down to the lowest common denominator. Capitalism has many faults, but far fewer than socialsim by far. And Strombo is NOT objective!

  • well yes, absolute communism fails pretty hard. but then again, id say absolute capitalism fails aswell.

one reason that did cause communism to fail quicker was that the soviets scientists were wrong. they set up an authoritarian setup where this guy called lysenko (probably not spelt right) was in charge, and it turns out he was a fraud. he fucked the countries agriculture and thats one reason that the communist experiment failed as fast as it did.

  • He sounds so smart talking about how dumb he is. Hmmmm........

If you're interested in the human brain, I recommend reading Training Your Brain by Terry Horne and Simon Wooton.

  • one of the biggest problems with america,is it doesnt have any unbiased tv. CBC makes me proud to be canadian. radio does anyways.

  • If you think the CBC is unbiased, you are dreaming in technicolour. I realized how subjective and anti-US the CBC is after 9/11. The day after 9/11, Peter Mansbridge hosted an "open" town hall type discussion. Except, the audience was stacked with a vast majority of uner-socialists who said the US deserved to get hit. That's called blaming the victim! The US isn't perfect, but I think even socialist cranks should prefer the US to an Al Qaida Sharia law government (what Bin Laden wants)

  • Id admit any type of media is biased, im sure they dont learn journalism like science. This whole talk of the left and rights of media really crazy, you know its something that is only in the west. it seems western politics is either left or right leaving the comman people on the sidelines trying to figure out what the hell happend.

  • What the socialists want, I have no idea, but it isn't about either or, it is about wanting what is best. This whole talk of with us or against us... Bush or Bin laden, crap man, I would prefer a third way, and I don't see it as feasible. Preferring Bush over Bin laden, doesn't really say anything good about Bush and his cronies.

  • Of course the CBC is biased. It is their job largely to preserve Canadian culture that has to be done because of the way is our media is largely in oppistion to the US way of doing things and seeing things.

  • That's the problem with too many so-called "Canadians". They think (using the term loosely) that the way to be Canadian is, or that Canadian culture must be, to be anti-American. You cannot define what you are by focusing on what you are not.

  • So called Canadians? It's also not anti-American to promote views that are different from what the majority of Americans hold. I see Americans say things like socialist cranks and seldom see people accuse them of Anti-Canadianism. Of course Americans would need to know more about us to pull that off.

I am not anti American. I like many Americans. I just happen to disagree with how things are done there. That is presumably why I live in Canada and value a broadcaster that presents an other view

  • Tell us how you really feel

  • Strombo is a Che Guevara t-shirt wearing, Amstel light drinking, liberal light head. However that said he has some very interesting guests. The CBC has changed over the years and has done some excellent documentaries on the Iraq War and the neocon set in America. I would take the CBC over Fox News any day. The CBC has some excellent talent like Evan Solomon.
