People need to stop creating a false divide between Chavez and Sanchez. Sanchez would have gone on to a a colorful career, and was a young legend, probably the best pound for pound all around fighter of his time; Chavez had a long colorful career and was pound for pound the best boxer puncher of his time. It's like comparing Shakespeare and Milton when both are so skillful the only way to know who was better is if they had fought and that will never happen.
@TheDogRibs You're absolutely right. That's the only reason why i took up for Chavez here. As a boxing "fan" i love both fighter's. I just get tired of people dogging a great fighter in Chavez. I have always said what you have said, there is only a false divide. There was never a rivalry between the 2. Sanchez was already a made-man when Chavez was a prodigy fighting for recognition. Cristobal Rosas has said,"I called both of them 'my sons'. They were both my sons."
watch the way sanchez moved, aggressive and technical. how anyone can say chavez was better than sanchez boggles my mind. jc may have stopped fighters sooner, but they were usually lesser fighters, and chavez could be outboxed by the best at it. sanchez wasn't.
@cstrait Look at the problems Castillo gave Sanchez. What do you think Chavez would've given Sanchez?More problems. Big problems. "Usually lesser fighters"? Please explain. LOL. Name one fighter that "out-boxed" a prime Chavez? Chavez' prime was '80-'90. Who outboxed him? Are you gonna say Taylor? LOL. Don't even go there. In his prime Chavez never LOST,DREW,or GOT DROPPED,much less to the likes of a Becerra, and Escobar, as Sanchez DID. Watch JC in his prime fights. No weakness. Never exploited
@cstrait Another thing is that people get caught up in the whole James Dean aspect to Salvador Sanchez. Follow me? Live fast, die young, and have a good-looking corpse. He's remembered now more as an icon than an actual human-being. As great as he was, with him it will always be what COULD'VE been. Because of this, people tend to put his actual career ahead of those who lived to grow old and ugly, where we got to see them at their peaks and valley's. This is so in the case of Chavez and Sanchez.
(cont.). What boggles MY MIND is how over-looked Chavez is for his accomplishments by the sports world, and especially the boxing community. Had he been an american,he'd go down as the greatest ever. But even in mexico they put him behind on of their own(Sanchez). Fans have no idea how SUPERHUMAN it is to even fight 100 times in his era, much less with the success that he had,and in the way that he fought his fights. To this day, nothing gave me more pleasure than to see young JC in-fighting.
@Socalplyr213 A fighter SHOULD look gassed at the end of EVERY fight that goes the distance, especially a close fight; like they gave it their all and left nothing to chance. The champ coulda gone another 30 rounds?? If im a paying customer i want my money back!!! LOL.
