  • be nice kids. santa clause got a toy of his own

  • very cool old man...very cool

  • THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR INPUT...

  • so this is what Santa does on his break

  • don't some of the anti gun assholes use this guy in a couple of videos, i got it sent to me a little while ago

  • ever thought about santa at the mall? lol that would be cool

  • XCR!

  • be prepared, these things rust very very very easily. If you leave it in your truck for a couple days there will be rust spots on it.

  • now u said about the 5r rifling how could u find out if ur rifle has one and this vtr way better than like a tikka or savage?

  • You can look into the bore to see the rifling. It is a good rifle, but not necessarily better than any other, depending upon your needs.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom more it to tactical shooting and hunting will this tipe rifling give the best groups?

  • Hard to say, unless comparing identical rifles with identical ammo and scopes, only differing in the rifling. However, the 5R is certainly very accurate, and easier to keep clean than is a bore with conventional rifling.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom i knw i ask them noob questions havent had a great experience with firearms bn in it for 3 years starting as young buck 14 haha but i think i would get one now would u rather get the remington 700 or tc arms ico or the tc arms venture?

  • I prefer the icon.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom thnx for everything

  • @Gunblastdotcom WHY YOU PREFFER THE ICON JEFF?

  • Better trigger, lower bolt lift, better quality.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom AND FOR AN ALL PURPOSE ACCURATE RIFLE ON .308; WICH ONE WOULD YOU PICK AND WHY; THE ICON PRESICION HUNTER OR A DPMS LR-308 20" INCH HEAVY BARREL?

  • DPMS, because I like it better.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom JEJEJEJEJE, OK I KNOW YOU LIKE IT BETTER; BUT WHY?

  • With that beard, I'd trust any of your gun reviews.

  • Great review !!!

  • Do you prefer the LTRs or this VTR with the 5r rifling?

  • I prefer the VTR-5R

    jeff

  • I read mixed reviews about this rifle some say its bad some say its good I think that you could buy two identical rifles and get different results. My question is why would a company bother to market an inferior rifle or inaccurate if you test the product before you sell it you should know wether its any good or not seems silly to buy a rifle thats not accurate even if its cheeper

  • Some reviewers just live to find fault with something, or perhaps they were expecting something else. When you read or view a review, try to gather the facts, and sift out the reviewer's personal preferences.

  • How would you say the 500 plus yard accuracy compares with the sps tactical?

  • I have not tried it at 500 yards, so am not qualified to comment.

    jeff

  • @enj01sk8t3r i can hit 750 yrds no problem with my vtr with a 9 power scope.

  • I think someone sneezed on the camera

  • Lol how can you shoot a .250 group with .308 Bullets?

  • Group size, regardless of caliber, is measured center to center.

  • So what how is Santa is looks like in real life :)

  • Do all new Remington VTR rifles in .308 come with the the 5r rifling?

  • They do not.

    Jeff

  • Does remington make any 700's (more specifically the sps) with a detachable box magazine with capacity for 10 Rounds? If not, is there a bolt action .308 detachable magazine cap 10 rounds other than the ruger gunsite and other than buying a different stock for the 700?

  • Yes. Accuracy International and Barret both have excellent bolt actions with detachable box mags.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom lol thanks...i should've mentioned id still like to be able to pay my rent after buying one...hehehe

  • @andrademeza ive got a 700 sps-v in .204, the stocks are complete crap, everything else is great. I would just plan on buying a stock and a detachable mag kit for the 700 sps if thats the way you want to go.

  • @andrademeza ive got a 700 sps-v in .204, the stocks are complete crap, everything else is great. I would just plan on buying a stock and a detachable mag kit for the 700 sps if thats the way you want to go.

  • @andrademeza hey there is a savage its a model 10 (law enforcement) it is great. I can't post the link here cus youtube is gay like that, but its called the model 10 fcp- something else ahah.

  • Another great review! Thanks Jeff!

  • Do you NEED ear protection

    when firing a .308?

  • Yes I do.

    jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom thanks, i just needed to know since i just got myself a savage arms .308 weather warrior bolt action rifle.

  • @ermineking88 Ha, holy crap YES you do. With this brake even more so.

  • 2 people cant hit the bullseye

  • Jeff, Would you take the VTR over a Tikka T3 In 308... Love the reviews..Thx

  • Yes I would.

    jeff

  • I'm seriously considering buying this as my first rifle, but I'm just wondering about the recoil. I have only fired 2 guns so far, a little .22lr bolt action and a 12ga shotgun. Could someone tell me if I can handle the .308 without flinching? I'm about 5'11", 180lbs (thanks in advance).

  • If you can handle a 12 gauge, you'll have no trouble with the 308.

  • I own one of these rifles. I use a 165gr nosler accubond with 43gr of varget and get about 1 inch groups at 500 yards. Its a great rifle.

  • well done review. Brief, straightforward to the point with no him-hawing. I recently acquired one similar to that with the desert digi-camo and have had good luck putting up very small groups.

  • what kind of scope is that? i know it's an old video, but i'm just wondering

  • Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x variable with Tactical Reticle. Please see the referenced article for more info.

  • 1/4 moa is almost impossible to beat without a laser canon.

  • Nice video. Is it possible to get that gun in the color black or is it just matte blue

  • @GscottS16 its not matte blue. its a grey colour powder coat type finish.

  • Would a long range test with the same rifle be in the near future ?

    Great videos !! Thanks

  • Not in my future.

    jeff

  • how much does that cost

  • Prices vary from dealer to dealer. Check with your local dealer, or go online.

    Jeff

  • @GTO656 We have that gun for sale for $716

  • your beard rocks i even watch your vids about the guns i HATE just cuz your beard is in the video (=

  • You shouldn't hate, it will eat you up inside!

  • Wow!

  • is this bdl or adl???

  • Neither. It is VTR.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom SO CAN A VTR CHANGE STOCKS TO A KNOXX AXIOM STOCK???

  • Not by itself, but it can be easily changed by anyone.

    Jeff

  • How much does the muzzle brake actually help with recoil? Does shooting lighter bullets ( 160 GR vs. 110GR) make a recoil difference?

  • it's fairly easy to turn the trigger down on this rifle. i have mine set at 2 pounds. you just take the stock off, and back off on the allen screw on the trigger mechanism untill the firing pin goes off when the gun is bolted. then you go one full turn to the right (Tightening the screw) and work it from there. test this by bolting it hard. do this ten times to make sure the gun will not go off even if you slam the bolt down when chambering. this should set it to about 2 pnds of pull.

  • why do they call it a varmint rifle if it shoots a 308 win

  • Big varmints.

    Jeff

  • that's a sweet lookin' rifle - good review.

  • now another question i had a vid comment about the new 700VTR .308 version saying that its all looks and with the new barrel and rifle design there was no accuracy, and even though you say that you got better results with this rifle have you yet tested the .308 yet and what are your thoughts on it?

  • With the 308 VTR and Buffalo Bore ammo, I was getting groups measuring around one-half inch at 100 yards.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom not to bad at all, so is that a tighter group or the same as the older model 700? i know it kind of sounds like the same question but iam trying to get as much info as i can before actually purchasing this rifle, the local gunshop we have my familly does alot of business with but the guy is not that informatible with all the guns he has there, although he is a nice guy and does some great deals lol

  • @1gamoguy I went out and bought this rifle in .308 when it came out. I've put many different rounds through it and found that the best match up is 168 gr bullets. it shoots sub moa right out the box but groups tighter with this gr. this isn't just with my gun, my brother has the same rifle and his shoots better with the 168's also. I'm no sniper but i can reach out to 500 yrds grouping 5-6 inches. i know thats not great but just my point that this gun is highly accurate

  • @dstkliner nice, next question because i have an older remington 700 chambered in 6mm, just recently it was on 20/20 about the 700's having problems firing as soon as the bolt is closed.... resulting in a few deaths, i cant remember exactly how many but was not alot, and i live about 25 min away from the remington factory here in new york that produces the 700 series, have you had this happen at all on your rifle yet?? kind of curious if its a confined to a few or other people have had this

  • is it accurate.

i have a stevens 200 in 243. it shoots a good group with in the 1st 3 shots. then its in accurate.

i want a good target gun and ground hog gun.

  • It is very accurate.

    jeff

  • I have a VTR in 223. I get 3/4" groups with most factory ammo, This is a okay gun.

I was going to get one in 308 but decided not to get a VTR version, I think Iam going back to a regular fluted barrel. No more triangular hype for me.. Still going to stay with a 700..thanks for the video

  • glad i found this video i have ben looking at that exact rifle for a few weeks now, and i may be going to texas to do some feral boar hunting with a friend of mine, but dont have the money to spend ona new big game gun and a varmint gun but iam still undecided if i want to get the VTR in a 30-06, .308, or 7mm cal

  • I have a vtr in 308 with a aftermarket stock, i think it´s a "most bang for the buck" top five rifle, it can do groups like the ltr and vls with no muzzle jump as a bonus ;)

  • i keep on debating if i should get rem. m700 or win.m70 what would yu pick

  • Both are very good choices. Of the two, I prefer the VTR.

    Jeff

  • @Gunblastdotcom thanks

  • That.Beard.Is.Awesome

  • Anybody can grow one. All you have to do is quit shaving.

  • nice review. i have a .308 vtr and find it very accurate as well.

  • I love my Remington VTR. It has the digital desert stock. .308 Savage has nothing on any model 700. I shot almost every model of the 700 and it has not disappointed. There is a reason the military uses the remington action.

  • I wouldn't. They are very different rifles. The Savage has a better trigger.

    Jeff

  • I really you your reviews short and packed with great info. Keep up the great good Jeff

    thanks

    AJ

  • @FloridaSnookHunter edit

    keep up the great work

  • Jeff, any chance your going to test one of the new Les Baer bolt rifles? they are catching alot of bs from many on line and on chat rooms with respect to quality and accuracy relative to the cost.....thanks

  • Probably not.

    Jeff

  • The beard is good for marketing.

  • maybe time to trade in my current 700!

  • I like when you shoot the guns in the video

  • Hey, if you're impressed with the accuracy of this rifle, you should try to get a hold on the DSR-1 from Germany. At 100yds Ransom rest, I was shooting through the same hole. It's accurate, Consistent, And fun to shoot.

  • damn man look at that beard!!!

  • Good video. Make'em longer!

  • Funny you did a review on this....I've had my eye on this rifle for a few months. Thanks for the review!!!

  • Excellent video...thank you for posting.

  • been waiting for this one!!

  • Good video, wish I could see the targets.

  • Please see the referenced review for more information.

  • My wife misses the braided beard look. Good review on the Rem Model 700 VTR.

  • You're really good at testing stabdards.

  • some people say a .308's overkill for varmints... not me!

keep up the good work jeff!

  • Now that is just sweet.
