Games back then used to be almost perfect. Games like UT, Q3 and CS were like that. Everything was awesome - the gameplay, the adrenaline, the music, the graphics, the atmosphere. And I do not mean just 1st person shooters, but everything. But FPS and RTS games especially.

Hell, I still play UT99 over any of the other installments. Been in the same clan for that for nearly five years now, and I don't think I've had a better time on any other maps but the arena maps. The game is virtually dying, with camping servers seemingly on the rise. All I play is our clan's FFA arena server.

GOTY 1999 will always be special, and I think its action is more refined than UT3's and has a better sense of style to it. UT3 seemed like Epic borrowed GoW's look for the player models and such.

To that end, though, I think UT3 was actually closer to 99 gameplay-wise than 2004 was. But I still like UT2004 better than UT3.

@StephensStuff I (gaming girl) haven't played UT3 yet, but the looks of the UT levels added to that game plus the remixes seem a bit cheap to me. They only added a different percussion rhythm to Go Down and if I'm not mistaken Morpheus features Foregone Destruction instead of Save Me! Better graphics, okay, but leave the guns, the sounds (UT99 Flak Cannon sound + Go Gown = digigasm) and the music as they were, please...

The new levels and features of UT3 look okay.
