As a Marine who served in the war on terror,I want to thank Vietnam vets in paticular. My father served in Vietnam as a Marine and told me how he was treated when you came home.America is divided much in the same way as it was with Vietnam. The big difference is we didnt have to endure the same disrespect. The reason why,is because of vietnam vets. They made sure it wouldnt happen to us.So from the bottom of our hearts thanks and we love you. Beside our buddies,we didnt want to let you vets down.
This was very moving. I am amazed at the similarity of action in combat. I kept track of who was who by watching the shape of the helmets and the weapons used. "Same as it ever was" is right on. Two different generations but the same breed. The Marines of this generation are as superb as any that came before them.
@jdggearhead Yes I do and that person was you on page 56 and 57. CAPE is real and you already know that. What's it like to be such a pervert that you can't control your disgusting impulses?
@jdggearhead So I'm anyone who is not on at the same time as me. Damn....I must have over a million accounts using your logic. Maybe I'm the entire Yt community accept you. No...you're the pedophile with 20 accounts abd you will fool me or anybody else.
@jdggearhead During our convo yesturday, it became painfully obvious who I was talking to. Next you're going to threaten me with legal action if I continue, right? Let me guess, you have your" top notch lawyer" and will sue me for "libel". See, I know you all to well you sick freak!!!!
once a marine always a marine god bless the corps and all of have served it all those who died who gave they're blood, sweat, and tears we are all in the same class we served our nation gave our life for the same values and morals we are all veterans who stood for something god bless all the nam vets you deserve your honor just like us OIF and OEF have much respect to all my brothers semper fi for life
let's put it this way from a nam vet. the marines are always on the front line always and forever, nothing has changed we get the hand me down equipment, even to this day even our marine fighter pilots get the navy's old jets.In short like we say every marine is a infantryman go devil dogs!!!!Semper Fi. Chesty Puller, every marine knows you he was................
dmellow45, i served in vietnam from august 65 to feb 68. seems i have more respect for you than you do for yourself. we love you marines, we are only your older brothers...and we're jealous, you had better stuff than we did LOL
(continued) a handful of times did the enemy actually try and fight us. Mostly its hit and runs, most kills against us are with ied's. I didnt mind too much not getting shot at, but over there as an infantry grunt I was bored to tears 98% of the time.
I was a former Marine grunt myself in 2nd LAR. Server 2 combat deployments as a 0311. From the places I was sent (Ar Rutbah) I can tell you that vietnam vets had it worse. The enemy in Iraq is typically untrained and unworthy. There army before it disolved was considered a 3rd rate army. Yes body armor and training in urban warfare has prevented many deaths, the war in Iraq still pales in comparison to vietnam where the enemy was motivated and well-trained. two combat deployments and only
lotusblack80! listen fucker, yes there are people who tell some bs stories of there deployment, BUT THEY STILL DEPLOYED WHICH IS MORE THAN MOST AMERICANS CAN SAY! so you saying ehhh Fuck you bitch,
just out of curiousity, I was wondering how many Vietnam Vets I have met, actually been in combat ? I mean surely not all of them.
Its the same with our times. I would say atleast half if not fewer has been in actual combat. Not to say everyone and their grandmother knows someone who tells the most rediculous Iraq warstories. I have met some real Vietnam combat vets and those guys have my undying respect. THE REST, I SAY EHHH
I was told by a V-Vet that they used to call them R.E.M.F's
In I Corp which is the northern part of South Vietnam all bases were attacked and had to be defended. The Infantry went on missions and given a "combat action ribbion" this meant you went out on patrol and engaged the enemy. I would say most Vietnam Vets who were not in the infantry did come under attack. In Iraq I am sure it is the same way, your are either in the infantry, or you are in a support role Most transport people are at great risk from IED's.. IED=70% casualties
To be completely honest... I feel deeply compelled to say that OIF and OEF vets have absolutely NO right to be even on the same level as Vietnam Vets. Those guys were dropping like flys in the jungle against atleast a worthy adversary.
I have done my fair share of foot and mobile patrols and fighting through the cities and sand in early 2004-05-06-07. vietnam vets went through a tougher time/ by far in my opinion.
That is very, very debatable while the death rate is lower in Iraq and Afghanistan is lower the causality rate is still quite high, into the tens of thousands wounded. Medical advances and better gear (mainly body armor which has probably saved thousands of men) has reduced the death toll, but the danger is still very, very real.
It's true that by and large the insurgents are not as skilled or organized as the Veit Kong or NVA, but they're still plenty dangerous in there own ways.
@lotusblack80 If they were infantrymen they would have been in combat, almost every one of them, whether they saw the enemy or not, they would have seen some combat and if they were in Vietnam at all during 1966-1969 they almost certainly would have seen some combat as well.
@dmellow45 We all served our country. Most Vietnam vets have great respect for the sacrifice our troops make today. Most of us went to Vietnam once. Today many of our troops go two, three or more times. You are in the dsame class as all veterans who went far from and into a hostile enviorment
@dmellow45 if you serve you're country it doesn't matter where . One bullet, one IED, one piece of shrapnel will kill you. All vets are in the same catagory. And we should all be proud.
Two difrent war's from two difrent times in history .
The Faces change but the names on the uniforms are alway's the same.
I remember the bad, and I remember the good , I remember their names and their faces , God help me if I ever forget them . We were father's, son's, brother's and husbend's, some of us came home, some of us didn't . Same corps as it ever was ???
Thanks for the complement on my video. I am a Vietnam Vet and just wanted to show how things for grunts are the same. Both battles were difficult, in the case of Hue it was one of the few Urban house to house battles of that war. In Iraq there have been many. fallujah probably the toughest
This is one of the best videos on youtube. You did an outstanding job of honoring the Marine Corps and those who served within it.
Have you attempted to give it to the corps? It would make a great recruitment video.
I served in the USMC, but I went with the National Guard for re enlistment. The Army sends me on more deployments and more schools, an offer I couldnt refuse.
@bosphotoman2a Also, sometimes it's the "smaller" battles lesser known to most Americans which are the most devastating for those there. Hue and Fallujah got a lot of press, with good reason, and the 3/5 Marines lost a lot of good men in both fights. In their recent tour in Afghanistan, they had 25 KIA and about 200 WIA (many losing limbs to mines and IEDs) fighting in the smaller town of Sangin. It didn't get as much press though as Marjah.
I thank all of you who served and those still serving in the USMC keeping the world safe and free.still I thank you for your sacrifice and unselfishness.
my dad fought at Hue... Thank you Marines... Then and now.... And all service men and women....
