@Kar3n420 well, thats Laurie Tackett for you. She was institutionalized a mire six months before this crime. Melinda was suffering from a deep depression as well, only about a month before this crime as well.
@unclealand only two are out, Hope and Toni. Toni served her time, Hope did not. Than they tried to release Melinda about a year after Hope and around the time of my video's. Many people protested this and may have had a affect on her not getting released...unlike Hope who was released under the radar, Shanda's mother was not informed of many of the court dates regarding Hope.
@spyrogirlkim Yes, Steve Sharer, Shanda’s father passed away in 2005. I find it unusual that right afterwards in 2006 Hope is released early and in 2007 Melinda makes an attempt. It is as if someone were waiting for Steve to die than capitalized on it as he was ill for sometime.

@TrettaM According to Wikipedia, Lawrence was released in 2000 due to good behavior. Rippey was released in 2006 (and did an interview with Dr. Phil and Sharer's mother). The other two were sentenced to sixty years but, with good behavior, could get out by 2020.

LIving in the area, I know to much about the story. But this story missed one thing. Shanda was Sodemized. Even if they hadn't burned her she would never of been normal again. Specially with how terribly far they sodemized the poor girl.

I just read about this today and it was the most horrible thing I ever read... I'm getting ready for law school soon and seeing such injustice from our legal system disturbs me. You get out of jail by going to college for free? Oh wait, except it's not free... it's paid for by the taxes of more humane people. Talk about a real life "get out of jail free" card.
@MezaseMaster Education, rehabilitation and help with reentry are of good use to a specific group of the prison population…but not in cases like this. Punishment should be the number one priority in such cases.

Everyone always said it was haunted so one day my mom and my cousins mom took us there, way before I was able to drive, then when one of my cousins got old enough to drive they would drive out there and whomever wanted to go would go , it was like a rite of passage you get your license you drive out to the witches castle.

@IyeS No, Hope was involved technically with her actual murder along with Laurie. Melinda and Laurie did the beating and Laurie produced the most damage.

@unclealand only two are out, Hope and Toni. Toni served her time, Hope did not. Than they tried to release Melinda about a year after Hope and around the time of my video's. Many people protested this and may have had a affect on her not getting released...unlike Hope who was released under the radar, Shanda's mother was not informed of many of the court dates regarding Hope.

Everyone always said it was haunted so one day my mom and my cousins mom took us there, way before I was able to drive, then when one of my cousins got old enough to drive they would drive out there and whomever wanted to go would go , it was like a rite of passage you get your license you drive out to the witches castle.

When I first heard this I was horrified.. OMG I cannot believe that teenagers would act like this. There are no excuses for these heartless individuals. I saw this on Dr. phil and immediately had to look up the wgole storie, so bascially Lori and Melinda were the ones who killed her, and they both were sentence for 60 years. this is so sad why would someone think of doing this cruel thing, but there has to e more to the story

@IyeS No, Hope was involved technically with her actual murder along with Laurie. Melinda and Laurie did the beating and Laurie produced the most damage.
I have never watched Dr Phil before and I thought Monday's show was very interesting

@IyeS Melinda is very much alive and still in her cage. Unlike Hope’s release that went under the radar, people were ready for Melinda and started petitions, produced videos and keep chatter alive all through the appeal process…looks she will stay in prison. But who knows, there might be another supporter that has something up their sleeve.

This is awful, why did Melissa (if thats how you spell it) include 3 other girls? And why did she kill her over a girl (Amanda)? Theres a bunch of girls in the world. Why did they feel happy,or nothing? Why did she kill her brutally?
This hurts my heart,bless Shanda Sharer and let her soul rest in peace.

@eva072700 Her name is Melinda and she was incapable of committing this crime by herself. She tried to recruit other friends but they told her to just forget about it. That is when she recruited Laurie as she knew Laurie was a violent girl. Why you ask, Melinda was jealous of Shanda.
