He immensely talented, and yes while his wickets are still coming, he's not ripping through sides like he initially did. Batsmen have not so much figured out his variations but they've figured out his style of bowling, it's normally quickish for a spin bowler and normally on the fuller side of a good length. Mendis has the talent but now it's up to him to not necessarily work on my spinning variations, but perhaps on line, length and flight to start deceiving batsmen.

its hard to pick because the flick in the carrom delivery happens behind the ball. U cant just read it off the pitch either because it is fairly fast, no real flight in the delivery. only way to play him, is with aggression to ensure that he doesn't get ontop of you with all his variations.

I think the easiest way to play Mendis would be to be on your backfoot where you can predict the turn.

Note that he mostly attacks around middle stump with good length to short deliveries. The concentrated area of attack can be utilized by the batsman -- since he can predict where Mendis will pitch the ball.

But I would like to add that... to what I have seen and played, the so called carrom ball is a very common delivery used in Street Cricket in Pakistan. I am a leggie myself and before I had learned the basics of leg spin bowling( like about 5 yrs ago) I also bowled the leg spinner in the same way. But I didn't have much variation at the time. All I'm saying is its not something that has not been tried in cricket.

Extremely exciting player however it's hard to say how successfull he will be. I think his main problem will be his lack of spin - he certainly has the accuracy which will help a lot but he doesn't really get a great deal of action on any of his three deliveries and hence less dip that the likes of Warne, Murali (even Panesar) get.

Also, I think he could be pickable by watching which fingers are raised at released.
