    Customer Reviews:

I'm a picky player. I have in fact built a few guitars. That said I was down a guitar center playing the usual junk, When I saw this guitar. The EMG's caught my eye. I compared it to a few USA Strats with Texas special pickup. In the single coil position this guitar killed them all. I compared it to an Ibenez s series. Not even close. ...

  • And I'm the sort of nerd artist guitar player who can't take his eyes off the Van Gogh on the wall 0:) lol

    Thanks for posting!

  • @yobhsiFehT hehehe glad you like the wall painting :) it was all strategy ;) just to capture your attention! nah just kidding ^^

  • Nice playing and technique, looks a great guitar.

    **Check my Strat demo!!

  • bluesy with a kick of latin

  • I played one of these in Guitar Guitar, Newcastle last week. It was fantastic. Unfortunately, it cost so much, the attendants wouldn't leave me alone and I only got about one minute to try it.

  • Very Well Played

  • great beautiful sound !!!

  • I am so jealous!

  • the best guitar in the world

    555++++

  • this is sooo hot! *melt*

  • It sounds pretty good man !

  • Thanks very much!!!

  • sweet, my brother got the same, but in cherry wood

  • Finally, someone with this guitar who knows something about tone! Awesome playing man!

  • Awesome guitar, great playing.

  • nothing im saying your guitar playing is great and the guitar is great.

  • That is one heck of a guitar, though the playing is much better!

  • I enjoyed your tone, and Carlos stylings, brother.

    Jeff Makor

  • Heard some Tales Of Kilimanjaro in there..... ;-)

  • Yeah! Actually you are the first one to notice it :-)

Actually rather a freestyle version that came up to my mind...

  • Hahah I guess it's because i'm obsessive and know everything of Santana (and other influences) inside out hah. Even the stuff that's hardly known.

    Anyway nice sounds!

  • Thats what we both prolly share together! :)

Sincerely about the sound, I'm not that much convinced about this one anymore, since it ran through a Marshall, TS-9 and Delay ...

The real Santana sound is way different and both of us know that ;)

I'm looking at your videos too, I'm really impressed!

  • Oh well I meant your licks.

I didn't think it was supposed to be a Santana sound. Just a demo of the Santana model.

    And thanks a lot.

  • Hello again Marcel. Where can I order you a few photos of the guitar that I constructed?, thus you say your opinion to me on it. is your Ts9 Ibañez a current pedal or Is it a old pedal (1980)?

    A greeting.

    Abraham.

  • Hey Abraham,

let me send you a personal mail with my contact address! I'd rather not do it here for eventual spam issues.

About the TS-9 Pedal, it's the reissue version.. I guess the original 80s pedal would do a great job too!

    Greetz back,

    Marcel

  • Hello Marcel. Your feeling seems to me to be fantastic. The prs Santana I looks like to me the best guitar that exists of done I have constructed one me with my own hands in red-orange. I would like to know that I equip you have used to record this one only. Thank you

  • Hey andhouse!

I'm very pleased to read your comment and it would be a honor for me to help you on this.

Look, the amp I've used is nothing special really.. a Marshall Valvestate VS265 running in clean channel!

For the pedals inbetween the setup is:

    Guitar->Ibanez TS9->Maxon AD999->Amp

Hope this was helpful and tell me if you need more info! I'd be curious to see a pic of your own made guitar one day!!

  • Man i hate you, I would kill for a guitar like that anyways nice playing.

  • It's Christmas man :) maybe Santa hears your wishes!

    Thanks for stepping by..

  • Well....I have a PRS - Black Santana guitar...

  • whoa your playing is so fucking good man dam my dream is to get prs seriously it was the first guitar i ever heard cause santana was the first musician i listened to :)

  • Hey :)

I'm very glad you like this video.. I made it with lots of love and added a lil bit salt 'n pepper to it.. ;)

Seriously Santana has this magic and unique tone that no one else has got with his guitar.. A reason why I started playing guitar!

  • haha yeah he is god lol

  • RAWRRR!!! im so jealous. nice playing how much this cost you. im thinking about getting one is it hard to play the high notes??? cause i've played a cheap rip off of a prs and it wasn't "the best experience" lol

  • Hey gl5027,

prices for PRS change anytime .. Specially as these models are getting rare! And of course if there's a high demand, the price raises..

The good thing about such guitar is the fact that they seem to not loose value as other guitars do.

The Santana I neck is very similar to the ones of gibson guitars... High neck position is harder to play than on other guitars such as Ibanez rock guitars for instance..

    Hope this was helpful :)

  • You seem to have large hands sir. I heard that the frets are really small on the PRS Santana, making it difficult to be played by people with large hands, how do the frets feel to you sir?

  • You know what... Somehow I gotta agree on that!

Actually if I wouldn't feel comfortable then I would have sold this guitar again, so it seems I'm doing fine really..

Where did you read about that?

  • My friend played one, and thats what he told me

  • hey,,umm is this color considered the "santnan yellow"?,,,or like a sunbirst?

  • Pure Santana Yellow my friend :)

  • Bravo Marcel..splendido suono per una splendida chitarra! Cederei senza esitazioni una gamba per possederne una!

  • ohh addirittura na gamba?! Ma noo :) ci servono le gambe!! :)

    Grazie mille robbisan :)

  • E no! Na gamba no! Un'occhio, forse! LOL :)

Roby, se puoi, prova una "PRS Mira". Favolosa come suono. Una chitarra con una anima! Ciao!

    MarcelMaier.

Non ascoltare a lui. Ma se ti dovessi stancare con le tue PRS, PERFAVORE! DALLE A ME!!!! Comunque, tu sei veramente bravo a suonare. Mi soscrivo al tuo canale cosi' posso godere le tue belle chitarre (PRS). Grazie per il tuo commento!

  • hahaha :) Franco grazie mille anche a te! Mi farebbe molto piacere rimanere in contatto con te e robbisan :)

Del resto abbiamo uno stupendo hobby in comune!

    Stammi bene ;)

  • oh ,well, now i know!!!

didnt realise it was a custom job, take a look on ebay at the moment is a blue semi hollow body santana 1 private stock, it is something else my friend, painted blue, front back, rear of fret board , headstock, you must see it!!

  • Oh yeah I've just looked on Ebay a few minutes before I saw your comment :)

That Hollow-Body is lovely !!!! If people like us could just afford that price I think everyone of us had one in our collections.

What guitars do you play generally? :)

    cheers

  • wondefull tool, really it is. But the daddy is the santana 1 with 1 volume knob and 2 sweet switches, and thats it !!!!

  • Thank you very much georgegleek :) agreed!

By the way the Santana I Model you mentioned above never existed! At least not with sweet switches.

Although yes, there existed a Santana model with only 1 Volume knob and 2 pickup switches, which has never been produced in series by PRS itself.

It was merely a custom guitar for Carlos Santana himself during the late 80s early 90s, most likely the prototype of series production.

  • Lovely tone and playing, and of course that wonderful guitar.

  • Thank you so much :) I feel honored!

  • how much would a PRS Santana Model go for?

  • It depends on which exact Santana model you are looking for... and also I'd consider the year of production!

But all in all it is around 4000-5000$ specially the PRS Santana I model is gettin' rare.. and I do prefer it over the Santana II and Santana III models.

On special request at PRS factory you could order a Private Stock Santana I .. This means you decide what gear the guitar receives, color and so on. But expensive!

  • it is very expensive, if you want the best: brazilian rosewood body, rosewood neck, gold inlay engraved, hfs and vintage pickups, trem etc etc, then you have to pay up to 18,000 $. but then you have the ultimate guitar

  • Seriously I would never want to spend that much on such a guitar :)

Imagine just how much equipment you could buy for that money !

  • nice man, i have a total of 8 PRS santanas, i have 2 PRSS1's, 4 PRSS2's, and 2 PRSS3's, i love them.... But i have one that was givin to me by carlos himself...

  • Ohh 8 PRS !!! Thats really a lot, although I understand that, because they are to me like "collectable art" too :)

I wonder how you had the opportunity to meet Carlos :) I met him too! Such a great man and such a gorgeous personality

  • i worked on the supernatural album

  • Hey Marcel, well done. Rock on...Don

  • you own that guitar. o olso own a prs satnana 1 private stoc, and dont want anything else, so how is it for you?

  • yeah morty1988 :)

Of course I feel the same! you know ... It has become a part of me and I wouldn't wanna sell it anymore for no price on this Earth.

PRS does really a great job with the guitars, did you order yours on special wish?

  • yes it is a beauty,

    black grey 10 top

    golden birds --> engraved

gold hardware and santana 2 pickups

  • Thats amazing! Tell me when you are going to upload a video or anything like it :)

I'm really excited to see and hear it on your recordings :D
