Thanks for illustrating the problem with unscientific America. A (vice) presidential candidate has to do homework before making bolt statements about funding science projects. Fruit fly research is the backbone of genetic research, as every high school student should know. There is no excuse for ridiculing an entire science branch on the basis of zero knowledge. Epic fail, Palin.

I have a daughter with autsism, and though I wouldn't change anything about her, I fully support any research that helps us understand it better. Personally, I think Palin is against fruit fly research because it's one of the tools used to test evolution theory. And we all know how she feels about evolution. She's a dolt, shouldn't she be at home with HER special needs child and not running around the country neglecting him?

There is no cure,yet,This is just one promising avenue in a hypothesized causing factor of a complex diagnosis. We got a long way to go still,but progress is definitely getting made. We owe everything in the medical field to animal research,and its a shame that first McCain came out talking crap about it and then Palin followed up with the same garbage.
