Don't call it America, as America should be North and South America. It shouldn't be the United States, because they aren't united at all, children have a lot of trouble getting along with each other when they use their daddy's gun to drive their parents out of the house. And a state is another word for a country, so they don't get othat part either, so let's call that country "down below." Yeah!!! You tell him, Rick! Frankly I am sick to the gills over the current state of Canadian politics. There's plenty of blame to lay at the feet of the Lib party hoo-hahs too...after all, they're enabling him. A no-policy policy convention? We can only run the nation without drivers at the wheel for so long before we crash, folks. Thanks Rick!
I have no idea why someone gave a thumbs down to my above comment (apparently someone in favour of leaders who don't lead, or no-policy 'policy conventions'??) ... but I just wanted to make something clear: I'm a social progressive.
If the opposition parties don't get their act together, then horrible Harper & the Conservative Party will continue to have free reign to ruin the environment, make plenty of bad decisions, and yet keep winning elections. That's not something that I want for us.
Rick Mercer is our version of Jon Stewart. Finally someone is holding politicians to account where the mainstream media is AWOL. I think iggy should explain to me again really slowly why some forms of torture are ok.
He should say why the death of children and women in a war zone did not cause him to lose any sleep. I guess his ime in the US really rubbed off on him

I have spent whole days at home with nothing to do and I STILL couldn't choke down his crappy show, and SAME WITH COLBERT. Seriously, why are you people so obsessed with american crap? Thank you in advance for even considering to help me but to take real action is most importante.
This is why Rick Mercer is so great...although we know he is a liberal he doesn't just take the liberal point of view. He rants about ANYONE if he has a problem with what they are doing, no matter where they are on the political spectrum. It is a good thing that he is criticizing Ignatieff, it just shows that he is showing more of an objectif view..(at least more than fox news...)
iggi is playing the same game that Obama played in USA. Those close to him know that he has extreme even radical views just like Obama. But Iggi knows that if he never speaks about them and has his handlers portary some smart guy to the Canadian Plebs ( thats us !) he has a fair chance of getting to power. Canadians never vote for anyone, we vote against those we hate. Iggi hopes to win the votes of all who hate Harper. If he succeeds we shall have a devil just as Obama is turning out to be.
Well, I stopped caring about their politics once the Coaliiton crap started (which, for the sake of sanity, never happened and we were never made the laughing stock of the world), but he seems to be bailing everything out. he's even giving money to people to pay off their mortgages, which treats people who were good with their money the same as everyone else. I was part of the Obama is the saviour of everything squad during the election, but I think shouldn't have jumped on board so quickly.
Obama as a saviour? You got to be kidding. He may be better than Bush, but I never expected much more from him, considering the way the Democrats have acted the last couple of decades. He is too moderate. As for the coalition thing, like it or love it, that is the way parliamentary democracy works. The only way Harper could stop that is to have a majority and I don't think I want him to have it.
I know Obama isn't a holy saviour, but a lot of people jumped on the Hope-mobile. It seemed so obvious that he was the best choice back then. I do not think like I did before. As for Harper and a majority, I want to see what he would do with a majority government. I highly doubt he would radically change Canada. Canada was founded as a Liberal Conservative country, but we've been mainly Liberal in the last little while. We have to much pointless left-wing ideologies, like a leech clinging on us.
The problem is that right wing ideology has been worse. It is right wing thinking that has led to the global problems we have now. It is our countries refusal to follow along with this global trend that allowed our banks to still be solid. It isn't like I care much for the Liberals or their ideas, but I find that conservative ideas of trusting the market have failed us to the extreme. Trusting a CEO with the market is like trusting a bank robber in an unguarded bank, stupid.
OK, THAT'S U.S. CONSERVATIVES. Stephen Harper is a conservative, not a twat. Do you really think that he would make us more conservative when we're the world economic model? This crisis was caused by no regulation in the U.S. and Europe, there's a difference between U.S. conservatives and Canadian conservatives. A BIG DIFFERENCE. I live in Calgary, and no one tries to trip people with a different skin pigment than them, or hassel people for not believing in god, or generally be just retarded.
... To answer: "Do you really think that he would make us more conservative when we're the world economic model?", yes. That's precisely their party platform. When hints of the coming depression (not recession) were evident he seemed pretty confident that government intervention was not necessary but he's seem to have flopped positions on that one (only after, of course, the MAJORITY of House of Common representatives threatened a coalition govern).
By the way, the only reason he's had to introduce (what I consider a fairly niggardly) budget was because the first time he unveiled the budget it was so inadequate that nearly every party was willing to resolve their differences to bring that plan down (which is an act ingrained in our parliamentary system). If Harper truly had a majority government, he would have unveiled his original budget plan which, without a doubt, would have dramatically deepened the wounds of this coming depression.
Alright, I need to apoligise for being rude by saying "We have to much pointless left-wing ideologies, like a leech clinging on us." and not actually backing it up. It probably offended people who consider themselves on the left. What I mean is this anti-war thing. We're in Afghanistan, trying to make thing better for the people in another country as we always have, and I keep hearing that we're just copying the U.S. and we should leave now. 90% of Afghan's want foreign troops their.
So? Do we not have enough domestic problems, that our government feels the need to go solve the domestic problems of other people's countries? It's not our fight and not our business to police the world.
Christ, it isn't like being there is getting anything done. What it IS doing is giving some Canadians the ability to put little yellow tags on their cars, as a way of making us feel important, as well as wasting good Canadian lives and tax dollars. Fuck it. It was a stupid idea to start.
Yeah, I second that. Obama is hardly a radical, unless you are only counting him within the context of America's values. The above commenter, as a Canadian, should know better.
We Liberals were denied a leadership race and we ended up with another bad leader. Iggy is not a Liberal, he's arrogant and another Harper clone. People have already concluded that they might as well stay with Harper, the devil they know.
Liberals are upset with Iggy. Mercer is and always has been a Liberal. I heard another popular liberal radio host saying that Iggy was the only politician he ever interviewed that showed no concern for anyone around him. Iggy is all about Iggy all the time. This radio host called him arrogant and said he was 'concerned about him as lib. leader'.
I don't think this is anti-Liberal or that Mercer is particularly anti-Conservative. He's just pointing out the obvious most of the time. The media has so far been kind to Ignatief in letting him get away with not offering clear policies or vision. Right now, I honestly don't know what the LIberals stand for. I'm willing to give Ignatief some time to develop a vision. This rant is funny because its true. No matter who the target its, Mercer usually does a good honest job of it.
Unless one side is primarily on Fox News. Then you can hear the entire argument of anyone who appears on and rebut it no matter what they say without even tuning in! /sarcasm
CBC subtely slides in Liberal-ish things into their reporting. I've seen Fox News, and CBS, they aren't subtle AT ALL. They aren't professional in the least, it's like a show where they give some kids a bunch of money to be angry in a calm way.
Does anyone else remember an N64 game called Iggy's wrecking balls? Lol

And I am aware that capitalism is a ridiculous and hugely flawed system, no need to call me stupid.
12v45g 2 years ago
By the way, the only reason he's had to introduce (what I consider a fairly niggardly) budget was because the first time he unveiled the budget it was so inadequate that nearly every party was willing to resolve their differences to bring that plan down (which is an act ingrained in our parliamentary system). If Harper truly had a majority government, he would have unveiled his original budget plan which, without a doubt, would have dramatically deepened the wounds of this coming depression.

I'm pretty sure it would have made the pain now, instead of later.

Fuck it. It was a stupid idea to start.

lol same here XD

Yeah, I second that. Obama is hardly a radical, unless you are only counting him within the context of America's values. The above commenter, as a Canadian, should know better.

We need a red book or a white paper or even a yellow sticky note would help.

Please Rick, let the next rant be about Fox and Red Eye. Can you really let this go by since you are the one true voice of Canada left in the media.

Finally a good job by Mr. Mercer!!!

We Liberals were denied a leadership race and we ended up with another bad leader. Iggy is not a Liberal, he's arrogant and another Harper clone. People have already concluded that they might as well stay with Harper, the devil they know.
Major9999 2 years ago 7
Liberals are upset with Iggy. Mercer is and always has been a Liberal. I heard another popular liberal radio host saying that Iggy was the only politician he ever interviewed that showed no concern for anyone around him. Iggy is all about Iggy all the time. This radio host called him arrogant and said he was 'concerned about him as lib. leader'.

Finally, an anti-Liberal, not just anti-Conservative.
12v45g 2 years ago 7
I don't think this is anti-Liberal or that Mercer is particularly anti-Conservative. He's just pointing out the obvious most of the time. The media has so far been kind to Ignatief in letting him get away with not offering clear policies or vision. Right now, I honestly don't know what the LIberals stand for. I'm willing to give Ignatief some time to develop a vision. This rant is funny because its true. No matter who the target its, Mercer usually does a good honest job of it.

The Liberals stand for the same thing they have always stood for..Power -Power and more power!--no matter who they step on--

"its true u gotta see both sides"
Unless one side is primarily on Fox News. Then you can hear the entire argument of anyone who appears on and rebut it no matter what they say without even tuning in! /sarcasm

Fox News is biased, but it's not the only biased news station. Just look at CBC News.
realvek 2 years ago 2
CBC subtely slides in Liberal-ish things into their reporting. I've seen Fox News, and CBS, they aren't subtle AT ALL. They aren't professional in the least, it's like a show where they give some kids a bunch of money to be angry in a calm way.

@12v45g
Though CBC does it as a government-funded organization, so your tax dollars are paying for it, regardless of whether you watch or not.
