  • one of my favorite songs

  • I'm grateful all of you love this group like they should be loved. Its sad cuz the stupid youth and some of the older age groups love Justin Bieber or the crappy autotune of T-Pain or Akon these days and call it music. These guys are the real deal and came out way before all of them. We keep their spirit alive with our support and they deserve it more cuz this is music. REAL music. God bless you, Claude McKnight III! You started it all, brotha!

  • whoever singing soprano is SANGIN SOPRANO! such a classic!

  • This is the song that will be playing when i see God in my dreams!

  • They sound like angels singing! I miss being able to see somebody sing with words coming out of their mouths. No gimmicks. JUST BEAUTIFUL VOICE! Take 6 will always be my favorite group!

  • The best EVER

  • Its

  • that lead soprano is killing it!!!!

  • that lead soprano is killing it!!!!

  • Sheer brilliance and perfection! Brings to mind Psalm 91:1

  • I like how the comment up there only have 6 likes.

  • I ran this tape into the ground when I bought it! They are a gift from heaven!

  • This song just sounds soo holy, absolutely amazing!

  • This is my favorite Youtube Video righ now. Can some one please tell me how it can get any better than this? antcreations, I love you :). Claude @ 1:48 gives me chills everytime I hear it. And then again @ 2:08. antcreations, I love you:)

  • Mervyn Warren was the original who arranged the more intricate chords early on with them.

  • 6 People can't find a quiet place!

  • I will also have this played at my service when the time comes. It's not just the arranging and performance that is stellar, but the loving spirit and motive these gentle giants have that moves me!!!!

  • Favorite song of all time...

  • You can purchase the cd from iTunes.

  • Where can I order this album? I have searched almost every store in DFW and can't find it! My mom bought this for me on cassette (Yes...cassette!) when it first came out and I was in junior high, but of course I plated it till the tape came off the reels! Also, who has the transcription to this???

  • Out of 406 people, 6 likes the backstreet boys!

  • It is one thing to hear the record. It is another to know that this is live and not doctored. We are in the midst of probably the most prolific acapella group ever. How blessed we are!!!

  • To play these chords on a keyboard would be nice....but 6 voices, moving around, singing close voiced chords, pitch perfect............Unbelievable....

There cannot have been a better harmony group...ever....some good ones maybe......barbershop etc, OK......

Take 6, chordwise, with the incredible close voicings....and each member can sing individually, The best...I can`t say anymore...stunning!!

  • @debussy2002 I think your review is stunning and sums them up nicely. Take 6 is awesome. I like that they use complex jazz chords and sing the 9ths, 13ths, in their performances wow! They have awesome ears. I also liked the Four Freshmen who I wouldn't be surprised if they listened to them as well. But I think I read that Cedric Dent who plays piano brings the jazz component into the group and their launching part is jazz big band harmonies, Duke, Basie, oh yeah!

  • @debussy2002 I agree--If I was singing this I would stumble on someone elses part, but they each know how to stay in their own lane---AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • the recorded version is good but this one is from another planet :)

  • ahhhh....the ending sounds like a sweet dream. oh how i love TAKE 6!

  • SIMPLEMENTE IMPRESSIONANTE !!! LAS MEJORES VOCES QUE SE PUEDEN ESCUCHAR !!

  • You are right....Only one group (Commited) has even come close tho.

  • Man from 1:40 to 2:09 is just NASTY!

  • @bonefidefool I hope Brian Wilson has heard them do this joint.....he would be elated beyond comprehension....

  • David would be proud!!!!!!!

  • This is a very beautiful arrangement. Pandan jebe. +

  • Heavenly.

  • Take6...what can I say? So versatile running the gamut from Gospel to Jazz. Their harmonies are so tight, so flawless. Their message is so strong an inspirational. May God always bless them with health and prosperity so they may continue to do His work.

  • Been listening to this for the past few, and this is still awe-inspiring! They do a fantastic job with this song, it's almost like listening to the CD. And, the harmonies here are just ridiculous! Have heard a few groups attempt to do this song, but still... This is one of those songs that may be remade, but no one will ever be able to duplicate it!

  • What distincts T6 from the other groups (in my opinion), are 3 things: (1) They are all great lead singers. Like CarmariMusic said - Mark K has one of the best lead vocals out there. (2) their arrangers are top - Mark K. is the best vocal arranger out there, Ced arranges great, etc.; that's why you see so many groups doing T6 arrangements. There arrangements are top bar none; and (3) They have one of the highest and one of the lowest singers in which makes their range unique.

  • Have u guys heard ,...COMMITTED

  • @lillyjcanada Committed is good but it's clear where they got their inspiration from...Take 6. I still have not heard anyone with the acrobat capabilities of Mark Kibble and his distinctive tone. The depth Vinnie has right now is just ridiculous and Claude still has the sweet top end although it is sometimes supplemented by David Thomas. There just isn't a group that has this gift from arranging to writing to execution. They have inspired millions I am sure and they are living legends

  • I agree Obbeachbum69! There will never be a second Take 6! Their precision, blend, style, and individual talent is just sickening!

  • 1:59 - 2:09 THA BIZZZNESSSS!!!! omg. the best accapella group in the world!!!

  • is this what heaven sounds like? :D ...

  • this really takes me back to when i was a kid. reminds me of my mom singing to me... wow.. sucks that i am atheist now, but i can still really appreciate the beauty of their voices...

  • the sweetest vids are always short...

  • They're just da best

  • I hope the full performance will be released on DVD someday. It is my favourite concert of Take 6.

  • so nice

  • Check out The Blenders' Christmas music.

  • wow....

  • the ending is untouchable. The entire transpose of the song acappella is untouchable.

  • there are many great groups out there but in terms of harmony, technicality, inventiveness soul, warmth, musical taste and grace i haven't see a group as good as Take 6. this particular song is so incredible!

  • I think Naturally seven has taken acapella to another level! I luv take 6 but N7 is sick!

  • @djmkstewart LMAOOOOOOO. Im sorry. But they CANT and will NEVER be able to touch Take 6. Nice dream/aspiration you have though.

  • A MAZ ING!!!! There is none other....did you hear that???

  • The ultimate arrangement from the ultimate group. The interlude was SO pure and on point.

  • THEY-ARE-SIMPLY-THE BEST

  • I have sung in a dozen A Cappella groups and listened to hundreds in my 61 years. Take 6 are the best on the planet. I agree with mamajama. God is singing with them.

    Zenbopper

  • If you could find this where it's not chopped off at the beginning and end, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, pretty good vid!

  • Sweet, pure and simple. It's praise and worship at it's most sincere from the 7-time Grammy winners. Thanks, Ant!

  • love them....they inspire me!

  • out of this world simply phoneomenal!

  • this is the best take 6 song! period!

  • That ending gives me chills every time.

  • Oh goodness...that different ending floored me. So good. :-)

  • First tenor or bottom bass?

  • these guys r good!!

  • WHEW--WEEEEE!!! WORSHIP HIM Brothas! I luv this song...it's on my Computer, my Mp4,e tc...I use it during certain seasons of my Devotion. HALLELUJAH!

  • perfection.

  • lol Cedric at 1:57 looks like "yea WE bad" lol I love take 6!

  • I told my wife to play this song at my funeral, not as a solemn song, but because this song gave me so much peace during tr tough times in my youth.

  • this is my favourite song from take 6! it brings out the emotional and spiritual side within me! thank you lord for sending six of your tallented angels to the world, god bless!

  • @ATT421 AMEN!

  • 1:54 - 2:09....i swear some angels were singing with them. that just blew my mind lol.

  • The augmented 4 to 3 and 9-8 suspensions sung by Mark and Mervyn @ 2:46 is inspired, That, to me, is the magic of music and why few groups have the innate musical instincts like Take 6.

    The reverb helps too!

  • The best voices put together. So much control and harmony. I use to go to sleep to their first album Take 6

  • @pesante5 Lol. Me too...it's like the Lord would rock me to sleep on their vocals...Thank God for the Gift of music.

  • Yes Lord! What a wonderful God we serve! :)

  • @pesante5 : I literally was just telling my wife those exact words. "I use to go to sleep to their first album."

"Let the words of my mouth...."

  • My God!!!!!!

The most beautiful musical instrument: Human voice!

    Praise God forever!!!!!!!

  • the ending is absolutely epic!!

  • @fiverings37 I always come back for it

  • LOL@ Cloudy...Urkel!!

  • I never knew Steve Urkel was in a boyband...? : ) But damn they can sing.

  • These men are so annointed...wow!

  • By far Take 6 has always set the standard for acapella music. I became a fan of theirs in the mid to late 80's and have been one ever since. I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for Mervyn Warren's talent and the early Take 6 as this was them in their purest form. Thank you for changing my life as after hearing what you could do with such intricate vocals, my musical depth expanded tremendously. God Bless You!!

  • I've been loving these guys for more than 20 years and they are still wonderful.

  • Love it! One of my faves.

  • This is absolutely breathtaking.....pure and utter beauty....

  • Wow...nothing more to say.

  • from Oakwood's "Special Blend" to Hollywood. God's grace shines through with every note. I love that these brothers have kept the faith. They are the standard that all other groups of this nature will be judged.

  • Take 6 set the bar so high, nobody has even come close. I believe in the entire history of recorded music, there has never been better acapella. If I'm wrong please correct me, but really??

  • You are 150% right

  • @obbeachbum69. You need to check out a gospel group called The Commissioned. Trust me when I say that their harmony is close if not better.

  • @obbeachbum69 Nope, your right!

  • @obbeachbum69 I've been listening to these guys since the 80's. And I'll have to disagree here. I love acappella singing. And Ladysmith Black Mombaza ranks right up there in pitch, range and harmony. So give both groups an A+ in history of acappella singing.

  • @obbeachbum69 The Hi Lo's set the standard....these men are incredibly talented. Gorgeous voices, impeccable harmonies; however, the Hi Lo's, in my opinion, had skill and talent of comparable degree. They were very unique and innovative. This group is phenomenal....the best group to come on the scene, since the Hi Lo's....and there are a lot of wonderful groups. If you have never heard them....some of their songs are on youtube. You won't be disappointed.

  • @obbeachbum69

you will never be corrected. trust me. lol

  • @obbeachbum69 . Taking nothing away from T6, I think they would have to admit that Gene Puerling blazed the trail in arrangements and recording technology. To hear how high the bar is, go listen to some Singers Unlimited Acappella. Of course, T6 can do it in real time, for me, that's what makes them one of a kind.

  • @obbeachbum69 I disagree. I think there is only one group that is as good, or maybie even better than them. That group is the Real Group

  • Comment removed

  • @obbeachbum69

    Take 6 is Brilliant.

But even Take 6 would tip their caps to The Singers Unlimited.

  • @obbeachbum69 have you heard the real group? I love take 6, but the real group just have an unsurpassed technical ability and versatility, they are easily the world's best :p

but take 6.. yeah.. wow.. they are amazing

  • @obbeachbum69 I agree, with the possible exception of "the real group" from Sweden. They are possibly just as talented as take 6, but their styles are so different it's kind of a comparing of apples to oranges type situation.

  • @obbeachbum69 Check out The Singers Unlimited. Take 6 got a lot of there sound from them. There harmonies are more complex. Both are awesome groups!

  • At a friend's gig I mentioned this tune and his piano player just PLAYED it!

I've heard Take 6 live, and they are unparalleled.

That being said, check out these on YouTube:

Sinatra (Tommy Dorsey Orchestra With Frank Sinatra & Pied Pipers - There Are Such Things ); Sinatra & Puerling (Frank Sinatra & the Hi-lo's); Gene (Singers Unlimited -- a Child is Born); Bacharach (Bacharach ~ South American Getaway): & me (Daniel ben Avram -- Marian Suite)

Follow the threads & enjoy the journey,

    Daniel

  • @obbeachbum69 honestly i do not believe there has been anything even close to being better.

  • @obbeachbum69 naturally 7? :)

  • @obbeachbum69 i agree with you, but only in the Gospel music.

Hear classical music, renaissance polyphony, westminster choir or tallis scholars or king's singers.

But take 6 is so amazing, i love them and they are the best in a capella gospel IMO. =)

  • I have probably seen this about 11.3 gazillion times, and each time, this performance blows my mind. One of the best performances I have ever seen, EVER!

  • One of the most phenomenal live performances I have ever heard in my life! Lte 80's -t he best time for Take 6 - never been as perfectly tight and blended again - and their voices were back then so pure. Fantastic!

  • loving how the slowed down "my cares are left behind..." whoa! got the chills they sooo good!

  • I got chills too!

  • This guys must be aliens :-)

  • Best harmony of our generation...EVER!!

All these years, I did not know that was Claude singing the solo there. His voice is so different from his big bro's; I thought they'd sound more alike. All of Brian McKnight's harmony sounds like it's them singing his background. I heard it was just Brian dubbing over his own voice in most of his songs.

  • Can't nobody lay it down like these guys... Claude's voice is second to none. I like Mervyn too, but Joey's holding it down with the great talent and testimony to match.

  • The greatest singing group of all time and they sing for the Lord God. It doesnt get better than that! I remember hearing them when i was like 6yrs old. Ive tried to collect their cd's but they are hard to find. Take 6 is a gift from God for sure!

  • I would like to hear today's Take 6 take on this song. I bet it, too, would be amazing:)

  • If these guys had come out in the mid 60's, Brian Wilson would probably have commit suicide. This kind of harmony is beyond anything I ever imagined I would hear in my lifetime.

  • JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love them. Absolutely!

  • GOD HIMSELF TAUGHT THEM THIS SONG!!!

  • @mamajama24 Yes. He did. This is "the song of the Lord"...

  • Oh my goodnesss! Can I just be at one of their rehearsals?! So beautiful. I hope to see them live one day. Too bad it'll be without Merv. Sigh.

  • wow.....

  • Claude......... his voice is like heaven!!!!!

  • Not to knock the greatest group ever, but I loved the tightness of the vocals with Mervyn. Joey is a lot more nasal.

  • dios mio,,,,,espectaculares take 6

  • When my son was a baby I played this song every night at his bed time. By the time the song was over he was sound asleep and slept through the night. If he did wake up he just cooed and played untiil he fell back to sleep. Can't NOBODY tell me that God isn't GOOD.

  • Man, I could never tire of watching this, they just sound so good here. The harmonies are just so tight, and the vocals are so on point, it is a thrill to hear them doing this song:)

  • 1:43 - 2:09 is just amazing .

  • these r the same guys today, just got older but singing amazingly well as always, no one cant beat them!!!! Ive been to their show recently I LOVE THEM!

  • this is the Original Take 6 with Mervyn Warren. Joey who replaced him does the Job...but he is no Mervyn Warren. Still love them and are constantly blessed by their ministry. FYI- Mervyn departed after So Much To Say album.

  • These guys are the original Take 6. Listen carefully and you actually hear some difference. These guys are great. Do not get me wrong, today's Take 6 is also great. But these are the best of the best.

  • Uma das minhas favoritas!!!

  • DAMMMMM!!!!! ..tell me you guys heard that ending. I've heard classical transitions like that(orchestral & concert) ...but never with voices!!!!!

  • then ending is why I always come back to listen

  • @rayraybrin Hell Yes!!!!!! So wonderful! so angelic!!!

  • One of my favs by Take 6. I loved this cd.

  • such a hard song to learn. but then again im an amature. beautiful song tho.

  • pretty hard indeed...If you want I transcribed it...I can send you the sheet.

  • if you could, that'd be so awesome!

  • estos muchachos son lo mejor que escuche armonicanente hablando, sus modulaciones me matan de gusto... son otro de mis grandes referentes musicales...

  • I'm so sorry that this record is not from the very beginning ... does anyone have a better take of this interpretation? it's a pity!

  • Im not sure how sexuality came the topic of discussion from this performance of quiet place by take 6, but my comment is about the performance. Amazing as ususal.I heard them live a few times, much older than they were on here and the still sound amazing. They capture the essence of balance and blend harmonically, dynamically, and emotionally...my fav male group ever!

  • I don't either some moron was arguing about homosexuality and I just jumped in, however I was looking for Take 6 videos when I saw him.

  • Everytime I hear this performance, I am awed by it. It is so perfect, like their lip syncing. Man, this is awesome:)

  • This version is simply amazing. It never ceases to bewilder me how they managed to do this live this way.... In aspects this is better than the studio version. Quiet - is not only the song's title but the work as well.... The best time for Take 6 - they were simply phenomenal at that time...

  • That extra harmony at 2:44 is a killer!! Amazing...

  • Yea this is what brings me back. The way Merv smashed the ending. He always finds those extra touches that the average musician can't grasp.

  • Yes over the lydian scale: they're absolutely non humans. I always thought the only idea of putting together such voices and writing such arrangements was crazy, so out of reach for common human beings......

  • Yeah #11 and 9 :-)

  • @oiznas I soooo agree with u!

  • this song always brings me serenity and comfort...so beatiful at 2:01

  • Beautiful chords out of the voices of great men

  • I am disappointed that this site, supposedly devoted simply to good faith-based music is appropriated by some as a "forum for religious debate", but alas, kids you miss the point. It's not about petty squabbles: WHO's got the "skinny" on God and Jesus - it's about letting the music speak to our hearts. Period.

  • If Youtube never intended for discussions to take place, they'd disable the comments portion for ALL videos. It's only natural as human beings that if we agree or disagree on something that we give our P.O.V.; not as a means of saying ''I'm right, you're wrong'' but in hopes of better understanding the other person's perspective. Our discussion--though it touched on the topic of God, Jesus, the Bible, & religion--grew out of fanfan's opposition to Mervin Warren reportedly being gay.

  • Jesus is the way, the life and the truth...i suggest that you try ro build a relationship with because the answers that you are looking for, he is the only one that can give them to you.

  • For you to make assumptions about my personal relationship with Jesus or God is further evidence you're not the person you're pretending to be. My eyes are opened bruh & they've been that way for quite some time. I've provided you with more than enough FACTS & your only responses thus far have been tailored to the hate/fear-mongering rhetoric that drives Christianity today. Quite ironic because Jesus never lived that way. As a STUDENT, I suggest you learn a thing or two about COMPASSION & TRUTH.

  • One thing that has me irritated with Take 6 in 2008, is the fact in many of their recent interviews, they DO NOT give Mervyn Warren his due praise with the early compositions. They give them to Mark, who did arrange many, but Mervyn arranged MOST of the early songs on the 1st two albums. It pisses me off when groups do this because an original member has left or been replaced.

  • I like Brian Mcknight's version the best

  • Absolutely incredible...

  • literally the hardest song to sing... the parts are wicked and absolutely hard to memorise. beautiful when all parts are spot on

  • it wasnt oo difficult, my jazz choir did this last year, we won a new england competition with this in our set... amazing song

  • I agree. Even for them. As evident by the cupped hand over the ear. My group wants to tackle this.. God be with us!

  • hermosoooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • fantastic vocal group. Magic human harmonies. But I have to admit I too soon get a bit tired of thight falsetto/mixed voice in high register. It would be nice to hear them a bit lower at times, just for a change...

  • THE CONTROL IS INCREDIBLE! And look at you guys.. :-) you look like lil babies ;-) amazing then, amazing now!

  • check out my version!

tell me what ya think =)

  • I LOVE THESE GUYS

  • Wow - that ending!!!!! Magical

  • ohh this song gives me the shivvers lol
