@whb1965 I love these things. I have videos on here of my other one, it has a long hood. I also have a long hood General for sale with an 8V92 Silver...
@wrenchturner80 This one was an '84 but I sold this one a while ago. I have an '80 that is on ebay for sale right now for $3,000. I can send you more pictures if you P-M me with your email address.
@alex189100 I have never seen a General with a Cat but I have talked to owners of two of them. I have seen quite a few with Cummins and actually had 2 with a Cummins. Of course the majority of them had Detroits. I have actually had to show doubters my literature that shows Cat and Cummins were options. In my opinion the one you know with a Cat is probably even more rare than mine with a Cummins!
When you drive a truck like this, do you basically have to floor it all the time? Like when you shift from gear to gear, do you just floor it until you're ready to shift again?
Check out my channel, it is the background and the featured video. I also have another one as well but to see any video of it look for CheyenneBlueHorse in my friends and check out the videos of the GMC General on her channel... that is mine as well. Eventually I will get more videos up, it is just a busy summer!!
Thanks! Did you check out the video of my new long hood with the sleeper? I also just got another long hood, and this one has an 8V92. I don't have anything posted for the one with the Detroit yet, but CheyenneBlueHorse in my friends has some video of it running. Check it out when you have a chance. Thanks again!
Thanks, but that makes me miss it even more! Did you check out the videos of my newest General? I will soon post some of it running. It has a Big Cam 400, and wow I amazed by the power it has.
haha i'd miss a beauty like that too. i still gotta check out your new ones. im guessing this one has a 350 Big Cam Cummins right? ah them ole' Cummins were the good engines. gotta love a Jimmy
Thanks for the compliment! It's cool you guys have some! Post some videos or pictures of them. I love Generals, I sold this one but I got another. Check out my chanel for video of the new one.
The one thing I hated about those Brigadoons was the steering.Nice looking machine, power was based on what ever set of ponies you had, mostly destroy-its, but turned like a dinosaur with hemeroids.I did enjoy driving the GMC.s back in the late 70's early 80's.
I have nothing against Detroits or any other diesel make, but I'll take the power of the Cummins over a Detroit. Plus this is what it came with from new, I wouldn't change it.
Back in "88 I drove for an Owner Operator and drove his old truck. It was an `85 General with 350 Cummins and a 13 speed and a 36 inch bunk that I couldn`t get comfortable in. Your video brings back some good and not so good memories. Thanks for posting!
Sorry for the bad memories! This one had a 350 Cummins with a 9 speed. Check out my other videos, I have some pictures of the one I got to replace this. It has a 400 Cummins, 13 speed, and a 40" bunk. I just got it on the road and will post some more videos of it soon. I am glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, but I just sold it last week! I will pass the compliment on to the new owner. When I get the next truck cleaned up I will post some videos of it as well.
my dad has two one has a sleeper he is not selling with double headlights and a green dump truck with 400 cat he is not selling with single headlights
I would love to find one with a sleeper! The double headlight version is the 5 star General and the single headlight is just the plain General. I guess the 5 star just had some more of the delux trim available.
I hate to but my family is growing and I am running out of seats in this one. I will be looking for something like this, but with a sleeper so I can fasten car seats in the bunk. If you want to buy it, I still have it.
I have a '90 Peterbuilt Sleeper cab named "Lucky". She has the Cat 550 in her.

You don't have to but it will get you to the next shift quicker. In that respect it is the same as a car or pick-up.

No, but it could be. I just use it for fun, going to truck and tractor shows and pulling a flatbed trailer with other old trucks or tractors on it.

my dad would also like that
