  • Watching this show is like laughing at the same joke (''haha lol I'm awkward and nerdy'' & ''shit I'm a girl I don't get any sci-fi references lol'' etc) for 5 seasons.

    Now Community...

  • Read the description before you say anything.

  • "I am suggesting that the response to Leonard in real life (without post-production) would be one of prolonged, awkward silence."

  • Comment removed

  • Lol,now that it's not a fad anymore to watch this show you see the unbearable with fathomless stupidity. These anserine morons wouldn't understand any of the jokes on this show. This is not the best joke on the show either.

  • So uh, how about that live audience they film with?

  • You guys are stupid. They don't use a laugh track, they have a live audience, and they time their performance along with that. For the section that they didn't talk, the video was silenced completely.

  • if this is one of the best jokes in the show, it makes me wonder how this crap is still on air and yet community is at risk of being cancelled.

  • @HowManyTimes234 amen to that, brother

  • It's even funnier now (:

  • Sheldon at 0:15 is sitting in a chair. Sheldon at 0:22 is suddenly next to a fridge.

  • @TheNethero read the description. the uploader edited the video to create an awkward silence.

  • @secularwin I knew he did before I had to read the description. Just pointing out a continuity error.

  • This makes the show so much funnier I wish it was actually like this just full of awkward pauses with no response to what the nerds say.

  • awesome

  • I'll bet it is awkward as fuck working on that set. Having to tell unfunny jokes to hot girls that have no idea what you're talking about.

"Why can't you come to work?"

"Blah blah some brainy shit instead just saying I'm sick and in lieu of a real punchline."

    *CANNED LAUGHTER*

  • A physicist and a priest argue whether science or religion is important. The physicist says science is better because everything is made of matter. The priest says religion is superior having God and the mass. A guy walks up to them and says, "I'm confused are you both saying that mass doesn't matter

  • god this show is such a pile of sitcom shit.

  • @poopUCI I guess that would make it a... SHITCOM!!!!!! Bazinga!

  • @FPSPhil1337 awesome.

  • I agree with the purpose of your video. Austin Powers addressed stuff like that too. What happens after the maniacal laughter without a cut to another scene? What happens on shows when there is no laugh track? I have asked that question myself. Nice work on the editing if people are wondering if its the actual footage.

  • its NOT funny at all... how do u expect us to pretend to laugh?

  • I find it surprising that a lot of people think that the show is not funny (reading from the comments). I guess some people are just too smart or too funny to enjoy a TV sitcom. Either way, I win because the show does make my life happier - eventhough i am not as smart or funny like some of you people.

  • It is WAY funnier this way.

  • It perfectly shows how NOT funny most jokes in sitcoms are with our the laugh track.

  • How I feel when I watch every single sit-com

  • If they want to make physics joke atleast make it something real...

  • nice editing

  • FAKE! The original footage is just 12 seconds long.. good job for adding on another 20 seconds of silence, just to try and make a bunch of people on youtube like you.. unedited my ass..

  • Has everyone noticed that the container is not cylindrical, but rather frustoconical?

  • @m1a9t7z9e haha!

  • @m1a9t7z9e Ha. That's the real reason the guys are silent. He screwed up the terminology.

  • @m1a9t7z9e It's bullshit because I don't know what a "frustoconical" is and I can't Wikipedia it.

  • @SmackedFx hahaha. that's EXACTLY how I've felt all day, about everything.

  • just repeat to yourself, it's just a show - you should really just relax!

  • This isn't a joke, it's a nerdy observation. And clearly it wasn't supposed to be funny because none of the characters laughed.. just awkward silence. I can get people not liking laugh tracks but this video is just dumb. This show, however, is hilarious.

  • @rhadiem The joke is the awkward silence imo.

  • @kedarguru yeah well the title states "unedited footage" even though it is edited so you could see how people would want to correct it

  • Comment removed

  • that was painful to watch lol

  • This show is not funny.

  • The only thing funny about this show is that apparently acting like a flaming homosexual = nerd.

  • The only thing funny about this show is that apparently acting like a flaming homosexual = nerd.

  • I fucking hate you David. Go back to Season 9 Roseanne where you belong. 92 don't appreciate good comedy when it's handed to them.

  • Just watched this episode. There isnt that much of a pause.

  • How can a liquid have a different Gravity than another liquid? I think he meant density of maybe viscosity... either way.. whaa?

  • @sephrinx He said specific gravity which is density.

  • ''penny's boobs still look great even without the laugh track.'' if there is one thing the internett can agree to, it's tits. Tits, we like em

  • Comment removed

  • This show isn't funny. It's not intelligent and it's poorly done. I've known this for a looooong time.

It's a lot more obvious when you remove the laugh tracks for some, but to me it's always been a piece of shit.

  • wow, this is the worst show ever

  • Good lord, how is this show popular? What a pile of shit

  • @porterism100 Because dumb people think a joke like that is clever.

  • Haha this is what my living room sounds like whenever this show is on

  • this IS edited, random bits and pieces of other scenes are put in to make the awkward silence seem longer, fail

  • I fucking hate The Big Band Theory.

  • @beyondaisle9 I know! What the fuck does Glen Miller know, anyway?

  • @beyondaisle9 You're not alone.

  • @beyondaisle9 now this I can agree with

  • So funny the wrinkles on my nuts disappeared.

  • this show sucks my fucking dick

    hot chicks and nerds?

    get the fuck outta here

  • This video is edited. The break between Lenard's joke and his "Thank you" is WAY shorter. I assume kedarguru was trying to make a joke about laugh tracks by editing it, but I fear most people will think this is how it really would be.

  • @TheLotRatF either way this show is worse than shit. I'd rather watch a mexican soap opera or commericals, at least they arnt as fucking annoying

  • Comment removed

  • This show is terribly unfunny and horrifically overrated.

  • @343GUlLTYSPARK THUMBS FUCKING UP!

dying of cancer is funnier than this show. and the average iq of the viewer has GOT to be under 80

  • This is highly edited, just search "The Big Bang Theory - The Slippery Nipple" for the original clip. kedarguru is a liar!

  • @erubalu It's ok, most people on the internet dislike sitcoms for some reason. See - the comment below me.

  • @erubalu erubalu is right. This video is misrepresenting the show. They film it like this with the long pause for editing purposes, but they edit the pause out on tv and take what footage they want.

  • Worse than 2.5 Men. Way worse.

  • Getting rid of the laugh track made it funny. The awkward silence is the joke.

  • This is the first time I've ever thought a laugh track actually improved a show. My ass cheeks were clenched throughout that joke.

  • Take into account that the original footage from the same point in time to when he says thank you only takes 13 seconds.

2 seconds between the end of his former lines and the thank you. not the 14 it takes here. So yes perhaps in recording it took that long, they intentionally make it last longer because they will add a laugh track later and don't know how long it's going to be, but that's what you get if you dont have a live audience there.

  • This was filmed in front of a live audience too. That's how unfunny it is.

  • if in this show they talk about computers, i usually smile about the shit they talk.

If you are a bit smart all of the jokes in this show are unfunny.

  • Pseudo-intellectual humor. This clip is painfully unfunny :/

  • If all of you know how unfunny this show is why are you watching clips of it?

  • What a fucking horrible show. Anyone who watches this needs a fucking lobotomy ASAP.

  • This show is very unfunny.

  • this show is not funny

  • @vu3030

you sir shall die in horrible pain because of that...

  • @vu3030 sometimes it is, but overall it's not really worth watching IMO.

  • awkward.

  • He said different gravities...............

  • @AcidFlashback321 He said different specific gravities not different gravities. Google "specific gravity" to understand what he was referring to. From wikipedia: "Specific gravity is the ratio of the density (mass of a unit volume) of a substance to the density (mass of the same unit volume) of a reference substance"

  • @iexusuxei oh right, i misheard, thanks for the link you learn something everyday!

  • @AcidFlashback321 No problem! Big band theory are pretty good on getting their science right :D

  • Ya, this show sucks. Always has, dont know why its still on the air.

  • This segment s missing more than the laugh track. The whole setup is missing.

This is like watching someone say (with no previous dialogue) "Don't call me Shirley". What's funny about that? Nothing. Until the setup is included.

Generally, laugh tracks are lazy prompts. The current fashion is that the better shows don't use them. They are not, however, the greatest evil stalking the earth currently.

It is coming out of the darkness.

  • Actually they don't use a "laugh track." It's filmed before a studio audience, so the laughs are real. They aren't even allowed to use the laugh from one take over another take. It's the shows on film, like "MASH" where the unreal laugh tracks were so irritating. Also dropping all sound on this makes it even weirder, because you aren't hearing the ambient sound.

MASH did finally get do some episodes without the laugh track and they were some of the best ones.

  • @shopstaken I believe they use both. Or they must have people in the audience that laugh at everything.

  • Came here for the boobs, was not dissapoint

  • Wow, the guy from Roseanne plays on this show? He still looks so fucking young. He was great on Roseanne

  • Awkward Pauses > Laugh Track

I call it the Curb Your Enthusiasm Effect

  • somehow i felt it's funnier than the original show.

  • @shenjinchen really wow u have no since of comedy what so ever

  • @killwize Really? Wow, you have no sense of the English language whatsoever.

  • Yeah...

  • The clip is clearly very BADLY edited. OP is a troll, and you all fell for it.

  • @qyasogk No. His point was that this show isn't funny, and his point still stands.

  • 16 seconds of silence

You have to love the laugh-trackless shows like "Arrested development" or "The Office". Hell, even "30 Rock" would be funny if they could get rid of Tracy Morgan

  • @badkluster I guess we have preferences, I love Tracy.

  • this show is funny to dumb people who don't know what the big words mean, ie twelve year olds. nice demographic, big bang theory.

  • @ShazzyFreak0 That's so true. Literally only preteens watch it and enjoy it.

  • now replace the laugh track with farting noise and you have something that is actually retardedly funny...

  • This is funnier than the show, which is unsurprising since the real show is actually pretty mother-killingly unfunny.

  • It's actually funnier this way. Imagine the whole show where there's a long pause each time one of the guys says something nerdy, lol.

  • @BrantMarcksson Imagine a show where they don't instruct you when to laugh.

  • @NeoTranshuman

yes i know its a studio audience but that isnt the point of this video

  • How is this show funny?

  • should I laugh or what...really I don't know

  • holy fuck stick

  • Sheldon was sitting down (0:15) THEN LIKE A NINJA APPEARS AT THE FRIDGE (0:22).

  • @Sudgy His idol is the flash, so it makes sense.

  • @Sudgy you're saying it should take more than 10 seconds to take 5 steps.

  • @xdzyI Its 7 seconds to get out of his chair and walk over there SILENTLY, and finish whatever he was doing over there so that he can turn around and observe some more.

  • @Sudgy he can beam =)

  • @Sudgy he had a full 7 seconds to get up and walk 2 meters

  • @rebelliousgamer First off: that is more than two metres and secondly he would've had to walk across the shot to get there which he evidently didn't do, therefore Ninja.

  • @Sudgy maybe because he is a ninja

  • I find it more hilarious without the laughing background.

  • Good job, @kedarguru! You hit the nail on the head as how homogenized and fake these sitcoms really, are especially this one. My bro and sis love this show and they cough out monotonous "huh's," and "hehh's" every time the laugh track is on. You should do a whole episode like this so that I can play it to them and ask them what they find funny. Then again, my sis will sit through whole eps. I guess other human dramas are too complicated for her!

  • Still, so so much better without the laugh track. Last thing I need is for bloody corporations to tell me when to laugh.

  • @Allicient this guy

  • I like how you put "unedited footage" when you really meant "extremely edited footage". Not only was there no laugh track, but all the dialogue in between. Also, some of the video.

  • OMG SO AWKWARD

  • i kind for the awkwardness to be very funny.

  • This clip isn't unedited at all actually. The real clip:

    watch?v=iOan_0acqE8

  • I actually think doing this makes the show way more funny.

  • AWKWARD

  • If you took ANY stand-up comedian's performance and removed all audience laughter noise from it, it wouldn't be funny either.

Plus the actors pause while the audience is laughing anyway.

  • @PMonty146 Fuck up idiot

  • hey man i thought it was funny

  • This show is awesome. This video is stupid; you just removed the audio. There's a real studio audience there laughing, enhanced later with a laugh track I guess. Actors usually wait for the people watching them to stop reacting before continuing.

  • This is bullshit

This ass made it way longer then it was to try and make the show look boring without the laugh track, the part between the joke and the "thank" you line is about a second and a half long not 5+seconds

  • Wow, I saw this show for the first time the other day and I do NOT get the appeal. They just talk about Star Trek too much and make elementary/unnecessary references to science. What kind of demographic is this for, exactly? It's not cute.

  • @KlimtPhelan

cute? go back to watching MTV please

  • @dacro0wing Oh man, you got me. I hate cliche "nerd" jokes so I must be a Jersey Shore fan, right?

  • @KlimtPhelan The exact reason I hate this show. "lolnerd" culture can go fuck itself.

  • @SkyForSense I just don't get why someone would have written it. This joke is based around an observation I could have made in elementary school. x__x

  • @KlimtPhelan

i never said jearsey shore did i? moron

  • Well, *I* laughed at the awkward moment.

  • you people relise tbbt is filmed live right?

  • penny's boobs still look great even without the laugh track.

  • A truly shitty show.

  • better than 2 and half men

  • The show isn't filmed with a laugh track, it's filmed in front of a live audience and that's where they get the background laughter from. The OP simply edited out the laughter and called it "removing the laugh track."

As for whether or not the show's funny; if you don't get jokes about Stan Lee comics, Star Trek puns, or find nerds to be endearing, then go watch something else.

  • @Fractoman Or maybe you don't find it funny because mainstream nerd humor is played out and pretty dated. Star Trek jokes? Ha .. ha... ahh, the 90s... It just plays into the pathetic want for nostalgia and new things to be nerdy about. There is a such thing as new nerd humor, and it has nothing to do with Star Trek or comic books.

  • @Fractoman

    oh you sweet child

i just want to give you a hug and tell you it's going to be alright

  • @Fractoman

I do get jokes about Stan Lee comics and Star Trek puns. I do find nerds to be endearing. But this show is beyond unfunny.

  • @Fractoman Oh lawwdy. Not only are the jokes barely into deep nerd territories, I'd say 90% of the people who watch the show are fucking morons who don't even get it in the first place. Notice how it's gotten more sex and relationship based over the past 3 seasons? Because if they made the nerd jokes any more complicated only a few would understand it.

Oh and every show Chuck Lorre has ever made is a rotting pile of shit.

  • This show is just pathetic, I love the actor that plays Sheldon. I saw him Host ATOS a few times and did a wonderful job, too bad hes stuck on a lame ass comedy that requires a laugh track to inspire humor.

  • So much funnier without the laughtrack, purely due to awkwardness.

  • Am I the only one who thinks the big bang theory isn't funny? Not only that, but it's condescending to actual nerds?

  • Laugh tracks were recorded for programs back in the 50's and are still used today, so what we hear is the laughing of people that are probably dead

  • @MLycas not the bob newhart show.

  • The biggest awkward pause in television history.

  • The title shows that's it's unedited. Meaning that the awkward pause was probably cut down for TV.

  • I can actually identify with this scene with the laugh-track turned off.

Nobody ever enjoys my science jokes...

  • @iLostMyUsernameLOL

As someone with a degree in physics, I can verify the accuracy of this statement.

  • Is it bad that I've watched this so many times, I know where the laugh track enters and ends?

  • Make more of these.

  • feels like it was funnier without the laugh track xD

  • OMFG i had no idea when to laugh..... O_o

  • The dialog in a TV sitcom never pauses for that long.

After the comment about a "cylindrical container", the characters would pause for a few moments (certainly not 10 seconds as shown here), and then the next character would chime in with their dialog. Sometimes that dialog is performed over the laughter of the audience or the laugh track.

The clicking every few moments during the awkward silence makes me wonder if this was cut and spliced together to get rid of the followup dialog.
