I will maybe take a Delta CRJ from JFK to BOS in late October. Let's hope those AF pilots won't be around.. lol. Flying AF from JFK to CDG a week later, too bad they fly their A330 on that flight, an A380 wouldn't be wrong :)
And that's why wearing your seatbelt while the plane is taxiing is extremely important. You'll never know if another aircraft will just side swipe you and throw the aircraft like a toy.
So I got a stopwatch and did my own calculation based on published dimensions of the A380. Assuming the video plays in real time, the A380 is moving at either 23.7 or 23.9 statute miles per hour, depending on which dimension I used.
In 2006, the FAA deleted the taxi speed restriction on the A380. I don't know if JFK has their own version. I'm pretty sure Air France has one. (Cue sound of captain crying.)
BTW: The distances from the nose to the front of the engines are 72.92' and 98.23' resp.
It will be a while before it's decided who's at fault. One thing I know for sure is the taxi speed of the A380 will be called into question. He had just begun a taxi of close to three miles (from the northwest side of the field to the southeast corner) and from what I see, he was moving along rather quickly.
I guess A380 passengers at JFK should plan on really slow taxis in the near future.
Lol, that CRJ-700 looks like a toy plane in front of that huge whale, pretty hilarious. Luckily it wasn't severe and there was no injuries, but I can imagine how big the fright was for the passengers of that CRJ-700 xD
CRJ-700 pilot: "Hey, I'm sure last time I looked up we were pointing towards the departure lounge".

Co-pilot: Captain did we hit something?
Captain: I think it was just a small insect buzzing onto the wing, we'll wash the pesky flies off later.

Hope they banned that type of plane from that particular airport. Reason: it's too big to fit.
