The first verse is strange with the references to driving the hearse through the crowd and bees stinging knees...seemed stream of consciousness with rhymes to me. But after that it's pretty cool. I'm probably missing something in the first part though since I'm older than dirt. :) It's about life, basically, within the framework of music, I guess. At least that's how it scans to me.

As much as I love this song and her performance, I wouldn't waste too much time trying to attach meaning to any part of it.
It's pretty much gibberish, as far as I can tell. I think that view is supported by the video which has nothing to do with the song or . . . well, anything. Particularly when it goes into the gymnasium and the stop-motion basketballs. Obviously a case of a director or writer struggling pretty hard to come up with some visuals--any visuals--for the nonsensical lyrics.
i think it talks about the life's routine..it's as if she's looking at it in third person view..she describes life differently in different stnzas but it all comes down to one thing, we find in our lives times where we feel calm, and she describes it here as the radio..for me, it talks bout what life IS about. it's a matter of perspective

She never makes songs just for the hell of it. That's why they're beautiful, because they mean something to her. Just because we don't necessarily know, doesn't change the way the instrumentation connects with the lyrics, and that folks, is what music is about. And yes, Zilla, or anyone, if you know what this song is about please enlighten us, we'd love to know.

Except, in one interview I saw, she was asked what the meaning behind her album Soviet Kitsch was, and she replied, "Um, no meaning. Just a bunch of randomness."
So maybe not everything she writes has an exact meaning, but that doesn't mean us listeners can't extract a meaning out of it ourselves! Nevertheless, all of her songs are aaammmaaazzzingg, and even if she says some of them have no meaning, to me they do, and they always make me feel happy (except for the sad ones). :)

The first verse is strange with the references to driving the hearse through the crowd and bees stinging knees...seemed stream of consciousness with rhymes to me. But after that it's pretty cool. I'm probably missing something in the first part though since I'm older than dirt. :) It's about life, basically, within the framework of music, I guess. At least that's how it scans to me.

As much as I love this song and her performance, I wouldn't waste too much time trying to attach meaning to any part of it.
It's pretty much gibberish, as far as I can tell. I think that view is supported by the video which has nothing to do with the song or . . . well, anything. Particularly when it goes into the gymnasium and the stop-motion basketballs. Obviously a case of a director or writer struggling pretty hard to come up with some visuals--any visuals--for the nonsensical lyrics.

i think it talks about the life's routine..it's as if she's looking at it in third person view..she describes life differently in different stnzas but it all comes down to one thing, we find in our lives times where we feel calm, and she describes it here as the radio..for me, it talks bout what life IS about. it's a matter of perspective
