A) set the boards on the very edge of that hold them.

B) dont strike the center of the board, strike close to the edge - the edge must be held in place.

Be careful about breaking, it is not hard to cause real and longterm damage doing it wrong.

Okay I would like to settle this. Tkd is as much an effective martial arts as any other. The technique doesn't determine the fight but the total application of it does; striking points, correct foot position, correct power being used. Tkd has earned the reputation of a kicking art and their is so many other techniques that are over looked.

I've broken boards and you don't actually 'break' the boards, you split them along the grain.

If he's hitting it perpendicular to the grain, or it's MDF (which has no grain) he's not going to break them no matter what.

Anyway, as I came to realize, breaking boards doesn't really prove anything. Well I suppose it does, but it's of no use to you.

In competition (or a fight) you're never going to get chance to set up a perfect, full power technique on a stationary target.
