You may have been looking for that badass atmosphere about the Turks, and I think you did. In my opinion, You've created the perfect sound and feel for them.
Je me sens obligé de rajouter que cette guitare rythmique me rappelle ton arrangement du "Theme of the Tantalus" :-) Il semblerait donc que tu utilises ce style de guitare rythmique pour mettre en valeur les organisations de l'économie informelle (si je puis dire) ^^
I feel you should put "remix" in the title because I had to listen to this 3 times before I could really get as turks "Feel" it's not not close enough to the real theme...
@SongeLeReveur And what about tons of other YouTube partners covering/ReArranging copyrighted songs? For example, Trudbol earned money from your Super Marion Bros video... i think you should talk with him, he could help you become a partner, i think.
Oh, man. This is great. But I NEED a longer version of this. It feels like it stops almost as soon as it hits full-power groove! I would totally put an mp3 of this on my playlist.
@SongeLeReveur Have you heard to metaldaniel03 (Daniel Tidwell)? He does a lot of video game covers, and I think he explained a legal way to make money off of the covers. Maybe you could ask him. Just a thought.
You make you own music too? you're good, so you should show of some of your own music too. It's allowed to have your own music based on something existing ;-)
I agree with the other people saying it sounds nothing like the Turks Theme at all. The playing is not bad or anything, I just feel like you added TOO much. The musical parts that make it recognizable get lost in all the other parts to the point where it might as well be a completely different song not based on the Turks Theme. In other words, I would not have known it was the Turks Theme if it wasn't for the title.
@SongeLeReveur I think it depends upon your country. There are several people who sell albums of their VGM covers, such as metroidmetal, the minibosses and a few others.
In the US, this would most likely qualify as a "derivative work" and would not infringe copyright, so long as it has enough original content (which it probably does). Don't take my word as legal advice, though. I'm just saying that you could probably sell this stuff if you wanted to.
@Taedrin The right to produce derivative works is actually exclusively held by the copyright owner/administrator. A compulsory mechanical license could be filed for in the event that a direct license can't or won't be issued, but one of the limitations of a compulsory license is that it doesn't allow for much originality.. You can adapt the licensed work to fit a theme or style, but may not fundamentally alter the arrangement or lyrics, etc.
I love how you're style and approach to these covers has evolved over the years. Instead of going note for note you add originality and new perspective while keeping true to the feel of the original. keep it up!
@SongeLeReveur i just did. it still sounds nothing like it. doesnt sound bad, just if i heard your cover and didnt read the title of your video, i wouldnt know its supposed to be the turks theme.
@glassjaw442 Then I guess we're not sensitive to the same musical cues. I may have obliterated parts of the arrangement that you felt were crucial to the identity of the song, but seemed unimportant/uninteresting to my tastes. Just be sure I wouldn't put this name on a video of mine if the music were completely unrelated to the original. ;)
@glassjaw442 The melody is being played by the instrument in the bottom right corner at 0:48. (when the video shows all 4 parts at once). The melody starts at 0:08, and only consists of a 2 (or is it 3?) sets of 3 notes. These are very sparse, and very simple, so MOST people essentially ignore the melody entirely, and instead focus on the rhythm/percussion which sets the mood of the song (which SongeLeReveur has changed here, which is why most people can't place the song without being told).
@Taedrin I understand what he's doing with the melody with the sliding, it just doesn't remind me enough of the a song that's been stuck in my head for 14 years.
@SkankinDevil89 Oh yea, it's totally there... believe it or not try to close your eyes and really listen. The song's so well done it can quite literally paint the image of the Turks in your mind
@SkankinDevil89 That's only because in the original version the rhytm is way on top of everything else , listen carefully i had the same reaction, but its there ;) its just nicely done :P
@CidSilverWing I think a lot of people misunderstood your compliment as something else, but I must disagree with the video game music industry. The songs that have been composed for video games are some of the best pieces of our time. We don't have Bach or Bethoven...we have Nobuo and Hitoshi. :p Reveurs music is amazing because like stated by others, his love for it. In my opinion we need more people like him to carry out that kind of passion to the music of video games!

@leafscratch Nah nah nah, dude, he's right. This guy's way too good to be in game music! Mostly 'cause he's way too good to be in any music industry! I vote he starts his own and dominates everything. It'll be like Metalocalypse, with a bit more jazz.

I think the added guitar gives the song a different feel, I like the song but the Turk's theme was supposed to bring out their darker side.
