I'm just starting to watch this, but I can't help thinking of all the dates that Chri$tian televangelists kept providing us up until the year 2000, when nothing happened. They'd just ignore the fact whenever their predicted date passed, set a new date, and watch the donations continue to roll in.
The best was Pat Robert$on, circa 1989, claiming that God told him (Pat) to personally usher in Chri$t's return in 2000. I don't think he mentions that boner any more, a decade after his epic fail.

I don't understand what the big deal is about the mayan calendar- they had to end it at some point, they couldn't just make it infinite.

Keep in mind the Mayans did not say there was no more time after that day, just that the current cycle ends. Just as April ends or 2011 ends, there is a new time period after. A new Mayan cycle would begin. Thats ALL the Mayans say, not death and doom, just End of Cycle.....the rest is sensationalism and BS. AND..if the Mayan calendar predicted this day, why does that same calendar not show the end of Mayan culture? What they couldnt predict that?

Eaxactly, and why would they go further when the Mayan civilization ended in the 15th century? Even with modern technology when's the last time you saw a calendar for the year 2668?

@robokill387 As we know people in time of mayas were not different than people of present day. Imagine that you must make one calendar without ending now. WITHOUT COMPUTER and WITHOUT CALCULATOR! You will want to stop at one moment of course. Why don't think that this happened in mayas time too? Maybe that guy who made this callendar told himself in one moment "Let's stop here. It is enough"
