Before even seeing Michaels run to the back and the video wall revealing the words, I knew this was Coliseum Home Video, because I've been a wrestling fan for over 20 years and know of every title change, especially in the 90s. And I don't remember this. So even though it was reversed and not acknowledged, it's still pretty cool to see after all these years. Thanks for this!
Because this was not actually a title change. If the poster of this vid would have let the video continue, you would have seen the ref reverse the decision, as he was informed about Shawn Michael's interference.
Jack Tunney reversed the refs decision? After the way Hogan lost on the Main Event to Andre - Tunney said referee's decisions are final and cannot be overturned. I know its pro wrestling but that's a little inconsistent isn't it Jack?
He was a great heel. Also of note quite a bad ass.
Rumor had it when he teamed with Scott Norton in Japan, Norton got drunk one night and mouthed off to Halme saying he was the reason for the team's success. Halme floored Norton with a punch (Halme was an accomplished boxer). Norton (in drunkness or self defense) put up no fight people have since speculated that he knew he stood no chance against Halme.
Little late reply, but... He shot himself, some speculate that he accidently killed himself with a gun..
I think he didn't have a swastika but i think he had a ''Parteiadler''-Hawk symbol... Wich is almost the same thing.
He was a nationalist (and so was his wrestler character), but i don't think he was a ''nazi''.. But i know he was quite racist. Even so, he was quite sympathethic person even though he was a tough guy.
WWF WWF IC Champion Razor Ramon defeated Ludvig Borga via reverse decision at 10:08. Apparently, earlier in the match Borga beat Razor but his foot was on the rope so it was overturned. Then, Borga's win was overturned again after another ref informed Hebner of what happened. This is on a tape called "Inside the WWF"
@TheMadStork83 because he was destined for a bigger belt ..he was either planed to win the wwf title after the rumble or win the rumble and face wwe champion luger at wrestlemania..
unfortunetaly he broke is ankle and his wwe career was over
Cool video. I had never seen it before. Tony was a legit tough guy and I hated his character when I was a kid which meant he was doing his job right. Thanks for posting the video.
They should have let him have the belt in that match and then lose it to Razor at royal rumble 94 courtesy of tatanka, the two then could have met at wrestlemania x, why did he leave so soon? he was supposed to fight at royal rumble 94 but hurt his ankle.
@jasonbantle actually he broke his back.that was the end of his wrestling career.after that he became a boxer, winning finnish heavyweight class etc etc. after he came back from usa he was in the news everyday.. so sad he died.
why didn't Borga last long in WWE he was supposed to wrestle Tatanka at royal rumble 94 but got injured and never came back. they should have wrestled at wrestlemania x. heck i think the only time he lost was his elimination at survivor series 93
ludvig borga obv died recently. discovered he had an SS tatto,, as well as nazi and right wing tattoos on his body. is it really a great shame this man is no longer in wrestling?
actually tony ''ludvig borga'' left because he got invited to the coverment or something like that and he got a lot more cash.. but he didnt injury maybe wwf just said that he got injury.. like when ppl leave there they say that the guy got fired..
I believe he injured his ankle or heel. (According to wikipedia, it was his ankle.) I remember reading about the injury. It was severe. The WWF let him go because of the injury. They cancelled the entire program with him.
lol my ass. i have the entire collection of original hasbro action figures and the one worth the most by official appraising is original undertaker with grey gloves, followed by rick rude and scott steiner.
i was almost certain it was the red hulk shirt hulk hogan figure you had to send away for that came in a plastic bag..and i knew ludvig borga was up there on the list....i also had almost the entire set of hasbro action figures. even including the send away bret hart figure, (also worth a lot)
The same thing happened at a house show back in the late 1990's at Nassau Coliseum when DX (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) defeated the Legion of Doom for the WWF World Tag Team Championship. The title change was never recognized officially because the LOD won the belts back the same night.
Borga (the wwf 90's version of kozloff) was supposed to get some kinda mega push but didnt really have that long of a run in WWF... i do believe borga also handed tatanka his first loss after about a year of him goin undefeated
Brock lesnar in the ring was a great all rounder. Ludwig didn't do much he was just the average big wwe guy of the early 90s who punched kicked and did a normal slams not much better or worse than the average wwf guy at the time.
Ok, Mr.Fuck you, I don't need to go in the ring with your fellow countryman. Because I'm not a pro wrestler. But as part of the audience, I can decide myself if I give a wrestler thumbs up or thumbs down. Pro wrestling is about entertainment, not toughness. And Mr.Halme wasn't all that entertaining. btw. Halme tried MMA, too. Only once, because he's got his ass kicked by randy couture in less than a minute.
no because in training he broke his leg or neck i dont remember but not because of the match with couture. and btw couture was the only man enough balls to take that challenge. he was just like brock lesnar is today
Halme really sucked as a wrestler or fighter whatever you wanna call him. Anyways before the match with Couture, Halme's trainer tried to tell Halme not to rush in guns blazing because Couture is so prepared for that. And guess what Halme did because he just had no skills to do anything else :D
Lesnar looked like an amateur on the big stage, botching big moves left and right.....I think Borga would've been a much better power wrestler had he been given as many shots at stardom as Lesnar was
Borga was awesome, and did the torture rack a hell of a lot better than Luger. Someone else compared him to Brock Lesnar, but I disagree with that. Brock tended to botch a lot moves, and Borga didn't. To me, Borga was twice the wrestler (at least in the pro rings) that Lesnar was. He does look a bit like Lesnar though, but he also reminds me a bit of Finlay as well.
Ditto, the thing with most of these 90's characters in the company at the time was that they had unusual gimmicks (not that a Finnish badass is unusual), but behind those wacky personas were GREAT workers!
The Coliseum release Inside The WWF, off of of the 1/23/94 Challenge victory. I loved that habit of rare last matches and title changes on those tapes
Borga's theme is actually the Finnish national anthem. The Mountie's theme was a generic piece of music (likely produced in-house by the WWF).
WWF made a huge error at WM X-Seven when they gave the theme to Nikolai Volkoff -- the Finnish national anthem for a "Soviet" character? Give me a break.
I'm glad I didn't see this as a kid. Razor was my favorite wrestler and even at 8 I could tell Borga didn't know a wristlock from a wrist watch. I'd have thrown a fit.
