  • Does this make it look like there is more depth or what

  • POKEMAN!!!

  • realy, this screen is awesome! judging by it saying 3d everything must pop out like those books where it happens, especialy around corners, i've never seen anything like it

  • Can you move more than 3 cm?

  • SooCool:)

  • HHHHAHAAAAXXXXXXXXXXX

  • It is actually a 3d screen like in those pictures that the pic changes when you turn your head

  • OH AWESOME !!!!

  • dont get it

  • works the same as those cool shimmery cards with pictures on them that look 3d and move around when you move your head side to side.

  • I wondered how dumb people can get, then i remembered this is youtube.

Hay, all of you people who call it fake. You know those birthday cards or trading cards or plastic coffee mugs with the corrugated plastic on them, and when you move your head either it forms a 3d picture or it does an animation. Same concept here. It simply draws multiple pictures that you see at different angles. thats what the strange effect is that you see.

  • When you move the camera right, you can see around the object.... thats how its 3d.

  • totally fake lol just moving the camera

  • huh??

  • WHERE CAN I HAS PRODUCT MUST NEED

  • That's Half-Life 2 DM. And try to screen cap it, not with a camera. ;)

  • @Godzilla231 screen capture? wouldn't it be simple half life 2 ? This guy is trying to show how original half life 2 look on 3D monitor. Damn

  • I can´t find a diferent :(

  • Doesn't look 3D at all.

  • @phaota I know right

  • @phaota You need to actually be there in front of the monitor wearing special glasses to be able to see the 3D effect. This video's kinda pointless. :/

  • @lx45803 yup

  • its 3D

  • 3 dicksion screen

  • Im capable to go with freeman to ravenholm and after killing all zombies with my fingers and eat their bodies, have sex with gordon, he as a male, and I as female to get that screen and a supporting a video card

  • capturing a 3d effect with a normal camera is difficult. Showing it on Youtube is even more difficult. Yeah it's impossble.

  • GTFO my Internet!

  • I suspect it uses lenticular lens which means each eye sees a slightly different image if each image corresponds to left / right perspective then you get true 3d. Next time you are at toy store look for lenticular posters which are becoming popular these days.

This monitor seems to offer more degrees so not sure how well that works!

  • @ollyk22 i have also read that with the phillips 3d tv they actually have two cpu's which generate the image for each eye separately

  • @ollyk22 fuk i just want you to die

  • impressive!

  • wow

  • thats pritty kwl :D

  • can't wait for this tech to become standard!! imagine how satisfying fragging heads online will be in 3D! Far as I can tell it should only be a few years (if that) before there is a commercially viable FULL 3D entertainment system on the market :)

  • Use that in Counter-Strike Source... you've got a cornerhack.

  • @Daputti

  • shut up some of us like it so shut your trap

  • Looks awful via video recorder..

  • wow...you can actualy lean in the corners :D

  • thats pretty cool, u have a sense of depth when you watch it

  • Hmm, some kind of parallax effect - I wonder how that is achieved with what at least appears to be only 1 screen. Perhaps there are 2 screens in the housing, one layered over the other. Or perhaps there is a simpler solution and there are two alternating images, kind of strobing to produce an illusion of depth.

  • That's gotta cause a huge framerate dip.

  • kinda impossible to see the 3Dness when most of us have a 2D monitor

  • You can tell because he moves the camera back and forth and objects on the screen move like they would in real life.

  • That's why this isn't fake. You can see two separate 2d planes, which the eyes interpret as 3d. Like a trading card hologram instead of a 3d movie.

  • Exactly.

  • this isnt real guys, spatial view does make 3d stuff but all he did in this video was set his sidestep speed really low and time his A/D keys with how he moves the camera...

  • Im sure this may be real, but uh, that would be pretty disorienting, so it seems kind of pointless.

  • Have you ever experienced a 3D display? I guess not.

  • All he does is wiggle the camera and hope the viewer is an idiot

  • All we do is wiggle your magic wands and hope that all comments like this on youtube would disappear.

  • fake

  • look any film game and video in 3d for free :

    JUST CLOSE ONE EYE.

  • purple monkey dishwasher

  • Whos gonna sit there and go side to side whhile playing a game?

  • I used to do that al the time before 3d screens were invented - nobody is going to make major use of it to improve their gaming skill, it just makes it feel more real.

  • also you wouldn't need to move side to side...

your eyes are viewing from two separate positions already

  • 2 me this proves nothing. like all of u i own 2d screen... what is the point?

  • It is a concept that is still in production

There have been about 10 monitors with support for 3d

The next kinda monitor/tv is the OLED and then after that people are thinking that his is gonna be developed more

    And i got a small 17" 3d screen :D

  • wow that's well cool. unless the user is just moving the character? fake?

  • Its Useless to me..

  • How the fuck does it work? anyone know??

how does the game work with the monitor?!

  • omg, i didnt know there r screen like that... LOL u pwned me if its a fake lol

  • Pretty cool.

  • you can capture it on video,, u have to see it live w/ blue and red glasses much like in universal studios..

  • No. It's autostereoscopic, you don't have to use glasses.

  • how is that? looks like there is a plastic on the monitor..

  • This shit's the best

  • lcd doesntt dysplay the black i love my old screen, cause i work with images, lcds hurt my sight i dont know why

  • what ever i like my old screen. not wide not small perfect lol pipescreen

  • its all done with head tracking technology

  • No, no it's not.

  • NO!

  • i've seen such a monitor , it hurts my eyes if i stare more than 20min

  • totally dont expect

  • I was playing stereoscopic games back in 1991 with those big old Virtuality systems. I don't think a 16:9/10 TV/monitor cuts it. It needs to be immersive and that means filling your peripheral vision. Hurry up and make stereoscopic headsets with motion detection, a wide field of view AND a 1900x1200 resolution.

  • from: ssjrd, on here 7 months ago "according to my investigations, this display has 5 views of the image on screen. As u move your head, your eyes take 2 out of the 5 at any given moment (gives you 3d depth perception). As a side effect you can move your head and see around objects (slightly). This baby goes for $1000US with a driver that can run some games in 3D (Wow, HL2, CS, NFSMW, for example)".... so imho, as you say, it does sound like the "holograhic animation" cards doesn't it.

  • cool

  • i think this is a really unimmersive form of volumetric display. The way I undestand it, is that there are a few images that show a slightly diffrent angle, and depending on from where you look, you can see one of those images, because a glass breaks the the light of each image into a diffrent direction.

wow, really hard to explain ^^

  • Yeah, I can't understand you. :D

  • Like the "holograhic animation" cards?

  • thats my guess, yes

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • i stand corrected, it's not a tv it's a monitor.

  • i don't want to piss on your candles, this is almost a year old. time marches on and 3D tv is here and it don't look nuttin like that :-)

  • lol nice fake, at 20 seconds he sits down and moves it with his mouse in the opposite direction then he moves it in the direction of the camera. lame.

  • Oh man you're so smart! Genius! What about the other minute of the clip? Also, the mouse doesn't strafe, which is the kind of motion you'd need to fake this. Sometimes you can see a double image resulting to from the perspective shift restarting... can your mouse do that?

  • @Mannystk

Aaand now the nintendo 3ds is announced using this same tech. How do you look now?

  • Yeah, it kinda works like that except those use lenses, this is called 'barrier' technology or something like that.

  • Would you say head tracking produces a better 3D effect? Or is this screen better at 3d? It's hard to tell not being infront of a screen.

  • ya its kinda hard to c, but its using a periferal rotator or what eva there called, but its so like, you could peek around corners just by litterally moving, but it wont be released until theres a forced feedback, so ur character moves when u do

  • i don't get it.

  • +1.

  • DON READ THIS: BOOO!!! scared ya....

  • its not bad But it could be alot better like the Philips WOWvx 3D TV you see more change as you move side to side in their version I dislike motion tracking systems because it doesnt allow multiple people to see the 3D image at one time

  • Head tracking does not equal 3-D.

  • How does using head tracking make it 3D? Cost 100 times less? Wtf you talkin about?

  • isnt it cheaper just to use headtracking? same effect, costs 100 times less...

  • "isnt it cheaper just to use headtracking? same effect"

*lol* Head tracking only lets you control the camera with your head, it doesn't provide a stereoscopic image. This is a genuine 3D; we just can't see it because we're watching in 2D (so it ends up looking similar to head tracking).

Note that when the camera moves we get a different perspectives *without head tracking*. Sitting in front of that screen, each of your eyes gets a different perspective, allowing genuine depth perception.

  • I saw them at CEBit in feb. 2007. They were amazing! O.O

  • cool, i'm going to cebit in germany soon :)

  • You could look around the cars which were displayed. And there was a 3D game, which you directed with your hand in front of the screen ;)

  • I don't know what you mean by cubic. Anyways, according to my investigations, this display has 5 views of the image on screen. As u move your head, your eyes take 2 out of the 5 at any given moment (gives you 3d depth perception). As a side effect you can move your head and see around objects (slightly). This baby goes for $1000US with a driver that can run some games in 3D (Wow, HL2, CS, NFSMW, for example).

  • Great, but as I watched it, the transitions between different angles of view were a bit 'cubic'. Am I wrong?

  • Lol that's not 3D

    That's just blurry.

  • And how do you expect to see the 3D effect via youtube on your non-3d monitor?

  • of couse u cn retard you cn see it with ur own eyes 4rom a distance cnt you, cameras capture wat u see. what im trying to say is you cn see it happening on the other screen as 3d. this is more likely to be him moving the controls as he moves the cam. dnt be so gulable. thats why the character moves but the game surroundings don't.

  • It's not him moving the character as he moves the camera. 3D screens exist. The reason the camera doesn't capture 3d is because it has only one lens, as opposed to our 2 eyes which capture two different points of view and put them together to create perspective. Maybe you can find some more info on wikipedia, if you want, these screens are really nice! I might get one in the far farrrrr future :P

  • well ive never heard of it :S but fair enough i guess i was wrong lool so wat is it 2 screens ? nd cheers 4 not being a prick about it lol sfe x

  • lol np I'm no good at being a prick anyway :P

  • Thank you, it's the stereoscopic effect I was referring to

  • Looks like it was played on a standard CRT monitor. Shouldn't suprise anyone, though. That'd be about the only way you could duplicate the effect in a linecasting based engine.

  • DAMN how much did it cost?

  • neat display, i've always wanted to see one in person.

your left and right eyes see a slightly different image, the moving camera is just switching between the 2 eyes.

  • you would have to have a 3d screen to see what your seeing

  • I dont think the people who looked at this video saw what I saw but ..... using your eyes and head you can look into and around objects by changing your prespective.... AWESOME

  • That is great but still need improvement. The stem is magnified
