Man this is gay... I mean seriously, I love this game, but when it comes to turning up your front rows before you shoot from behind, position the ball on the field per hand and play two rows with one hand that is just pathetic. Either play all the table, one row at once (leaving your own as potential blockers) or just don't play at all.

Are those guys skilled? Most certainly. Aer those guys having fun doing what they're doing? I doubt it.

@Alexgreece In prof Foosbal there is 5 different types of tables. Like in Tennis you got different types of fields to play on. The 5 types are Bonzini - Garlando - Fireball (tornado) - Roberto Sport - Leonhart. The difference between the types is in what material the "players", the footballs and the Field is made of. So they change from different types of tables because some players are better at different kind of tables :)

I'd like to see this with a 1 second rule on holding the ball. It's dull when players just wait to shoot, watching the defense wobble. A 1 second max would make this all go so much faster and more interestingly.

These guys are pros but they are also primarily offensive players. In doubles you can see many players who primarily focus on defense. Those players, while perhaps appearing to "randomly go back and forth" are in fact carefully and strategically placing their men in certain spots, often to bait a shot, which they quickly close up and steal the ball.

Quick question: Does a goal count if you accidentally make contact with the opponent's player before it enters the goal (ball deflects off a guard)? Some call it a $hit-Shot...others count it as a goal...I cant find a ruling !

Is it just me or does the highest level of foosball seem more boring b/c the players are so good at offense that the defense has to randomly go back and forth? I think its more exciting when the players are worse and can actually somewhat defend. The play is also more varied. With awesome players it seems like they just do the same things over and over again. It's always the same scenarios. I know they have to do it b/c those are the best techniques and the surest way of scoring goals, but

@Beepbeepoutoftheway their defense is actually (generally speaking) not random; any master playing goalie knows the positioning of their men at any given time while defending, enabling them to adjust to how their opponent is shooting. Further, it allows for them to play mental games (baiting and switching) because, at its highest level, foosball is almost completely mental.

Also, if you want to see a master showing off, check out some videos of Ryan Moore, he's simply amazing.

@JustADude26 Ryan Moore is a great player, however, as far as exciting game play and showing off, none come even close to Tony Spredeman. His snake is outstanding,but his 5 row is absolutely phenomenal. And to answer gutturtle; YES it counts. Some people when playing at home may or may not take "shit shots" or the last point must be a "clean shot". But under normal circumstances it would most definitely count.

As the terrible foosball player I am, I use the back and fourth technique to feel I'm somewhat protecting my goal (while not xD) and it keeps my hand warmed up. My main technique is to have the goalkeeper mostly on one side of the goal, and when they shoot, I rapidly pull it to the other side, trying to time with the shot, so instead of doing a frontal block, kinda do it on a more diagonal/lateral basis. Since I don't play with pros, I have a fair success rate with this xD

Maybe you need to be inide foosball, every player has its own style. At multitable-tournaments every player has his own prefered table. The defense player never go back and forth randomly, you are looking for signs what the offense player next want to do. It is a very psychologic game on higher levels i love it anyways. I have to admit good players usually always do the same, but every good player do something different.

there are some different shoots, pro players use in the front:

pinshot, snake, 1 pass shoot and the pull... dunno the exact names in english, sorry.

but the most important thing in this sport are your skills in the middle... there you can stop your enemy.

by the way, it is possible to defend... it's important to read your enemy... kinda like a mentalist.
