I have not written any comments on this song , like I have on Mr. Al Martino's other songs. Now I after I forwarded into the comment section after viewing and listening to this fantastic and absolutely the greatest version of this song , I cannot let my fingers sit idle. First of Al , though this song has been recorded a lot earlier , including the original Italian version by Domenico Modugno, others can not compete. I say this because I have 42 albums, of Al Martino, from 13 to now age 61 RIP.
Pretty crappy entertainment reporting the media does these days. Keep talking about shit like American Idol, Paris Hilton or other things that are "over reported" and no one really cares about. Then they ignore more important entertainment news like the deaths of our great singers such as Al Martino. Hardly any mention at all about his death. Just a little footnote on the bottom of CNN's tv screen.
@903davesharonpoky you are correct in your assessment of the media. the music today is a miserable joke. it seems it is all about drugs and those miserable individuals who are in the news today. NO ONE WITH ANY CLASS WOULD REALIZE THAT THE ENTERTAINERS OF TODAY HAVE NOTHING TO COMPARE WITH THE VOICES AND STYLE OF THE OLDER AND ENDURING SINGERS OF YESTERDAY. roselli
I agree. The NBC National News and the Grammy's did do lovely tributes though. But he deserved more for sure. today all the media cares about are disposable and untalented people. This is a legend who was making record since 1952. A 51 year career. And starred in the greatest movie of all time.
they did not have a big deal for some reason when he died that really mad me upset because he was a great italian singer and a lot of people dont even know he died
@nickthequic1 Thank you!! It's great to see someone else feel's just the same as I do friend! I did not know he died until, believe it or not, I played one of his videos here on "You Tube" and actually was shocked to read he had died from here in the comments section! UNREAL!! We all have just got to force ourselves to conclude that "Hollywood" wants NOTHING to do with the "old guys" like Martino. I am so angry at show business these days! There just "Pig Swine!"
Couldn't agree more! I am only 43 and Al and Perry Como are some of my very favorite singers of all time. The man was so talented. Now we have AMERICAN IDOL. What a joke.
@christianaStarr They still talk about mIchael jackson but never once mentioned Al Martino's passing on the networks. People ought to send emails asking why this is.
@ShakinJonny Who cares how many records someone sells it's all marketing. Talent has nothing to do with
how many records are sold. You are basing talent on what the masses like. And I beg to differ with you as to who knows Al Martino. Maybe your friends under age 30 don't know him but that doesn't count. Just because you believe in placating to the masses doesn't prove a darn thing.
@34thstreetman Yuor main questionwas: "They still talk about mIchael jackson but never once mentioned Al Martino's passing on the networks. People ought to send emails asking why this is."?
You ask; why is it people still talk about MJ, but not Al martino?
Well, My posting was the answer to that question. Nothing more nothing less.
Thats the answer: Both Michael Jackson & Elvis was and still Are, more well known and popuar worldwide then Al Martino. Thas just a fact. I dont say I like it.
Epic, epic epic.... I think Volare is one best songs of all time - and Al Martino's version you've posted has a very disco undertone - I think I'll make a VGMV with Destroy All humans Path of the Furon with his background music... Since this would suit the 70's theme... brilliant :)
Bueno, tenía entonces 18 años, ¿y qué?no retrocedo ni un minuto, y aún no se a quien esperaré a la otra orilla del mundo y quien me estará esperando a mi
Volare doesn't sound English this song is one of the most famous Italian songs aorund the world. The original version is made from Domenico Modugno ( 1951 ) there is a lot of cover the most recent is from Gypsy King. The first american traslation was made from a black woman singer ( I don't rember the name ) but people rember the cover from Frank Sinatra.
the video was okay. as long as there's al martino singing in it then everything is perfectly okay. compare him to artist these days. they don't stand a snowball chance in hell to the great voice of mr. martino. al rules!
OMG!!! rolf not good not good at all. I mean i luv Al Martin but this version of Volare just sucks. c'mon the seventies beat???! what were they thinkin? ='(
O acompanhento musical está excelente e Al Martino tem uma voz que soa muito bem, tal como de outros cantores clássicos do género: Engelbert, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, John Paulo Young, etc...
I agree that the original version in Iatalian sounds better. The song is also knmown as Nel Blue di Pinto di Blue. I'd like to hear it in spanish, can you recommend a version? In many big cities in the US there are stations that play this kind of music. They are sort of nostalgia stations(but not 50's kind of oldies). I heard a great one in Palm Springs, which you might find on-line too.
you bet, great songs, great times...the music of today (noise) makes me puke, so do the so-called 'artists'...sad sad sad...Give me Al, Dean Martin, Frankie Valli, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Jay and the Americans anyday! God Bless

@34thstreetman I can tell you why: Michael Jackson was the worlds most wellknown singer, besides Elvis.
He had billions of fans worldwide. Only Elvis has more
He had dosenz of superhits. Only Elvis had more.
He sold billionsof records,..only surpassed by...Elvis!
Now How many superhits did Al Martino have?
Hes only known for one song only; "Spanish Eyes"!
I don´t know of any people who ever heard of a man called Al Martino?
But they all know Elvis and Michael very well.
Thats why!
ShakinJonny 11 months ago
@ShakinJonny Besides that,..I absolutly LOVE Spanish Eyes, and much of those songs Al Martino made.

3. : "Maybe your friends under age 30 don't know him but that doesn't count."
