  • I voted thumbs down because of that damn broadcaster emblem in the upper right hand corner, it annoyed the shit out of me.

  • it is a copy of indian sport,,,,,,,' dahi handi'

  • 2:27 poor kid

  • CATALONIA IS NOT SPAIN

  • 2:37 asss touch

  • The Human Pyramids - Catalunya

  • If someone has really been in Spain, will know it is not known by flamenco, toros, and paella....

Please don't be so rude, when someone goes to El Carmen(Valencia), La Alhambra(Granada), La Sagrada Familia(Barcelona) will see we are not only those things.

Help peolple know about other special things we have.

Some loud people start mesing around with indepentism and so, I respect it, but please respect me too. My position is love between us :)

Signed by a valencian guy, come in March !!

  • Mixing the words "castellers" and "spain" in the same sentence is like mixing "crossiant" and "poland" or "fish and chips" and portugal. something like this ;)

  • OMG it's the Burger King. 0:07

  • world of goo?

  • alucinanteeeee!

  • This is not in Spain, this only happens in Catalonia ;)

XD

  • I consider "complete" a castle built and unbuilt completely whereas "half completed" is when the kid reaches the top and makes the sign but the castle falls afterwards.

The 2nd one: Even tough the origin of "castellers" is still a debate amongst local historians, its origin is not religious. The most accepted theory considers it to be an evolution of a dance, the "Valencian's dance" which many valencians living in the catalan town of Valls practiced in the early 19th century.

  • Congrats for this video ! it's really well done and explains this little world quite well. I'm happy also that plays down the risk of it, as somebody mentioned here the risk of the "castellers" for kids is similar to some well accepted sports.

Just let me point 2 slight inaccuracies: 1st, the "green team" (Vilafranca) is not the only team who had completed the 10-levels castles by then. Minyons (the lavender shirt) completed it in 1998 and 2002, and Colla Vella half-completed it in 2000.

  • They did some Indian Dahi Handi there

  • he don't know this is a tradition in India also.N r much moreorganised tahn them.these people r dry, in India they r wet during this game.Water make their body slippery. Although well copied.

  • Bad reporters i'm afraid....

This tradition it only happens in CATALONIA, spanish guittars shoudn't be playing, there's a traditional music that plays at the end of the castle, they shoudn't call it "CASTILLOS" it's "CASTELLERS"...good try anyway.. but people should stop thinking of all spain as paella and spanish guitar, it's insulting. CATALONIA IS NOT SPAIN.

  • maybe its just and and this is a little mean but i found it hilarious when they fell :/

  • bastards get out of our motherland,VISCA CATALUNYA

  • i love Spain !! all the traditions like that

  • Spain is known by flamenco, toros, paella...

its culture shows animal torture, arrogance and the desire to live a pleasant life without effort. It's its culture and I respect it.

Catalonia is known by sardana, castellers, pa amb tomàquet..

our culture is based in camaraderie, effort and the desire to overcome ourselves. It's our culture and it's nothing to do with the Spanish one.

So, please, stop saying we are Spanish. We are Catalan. Being Catalan is a feeling and we'll never give it up.

    Payaso

  • @PLANKt0ne1 DONCS FORA!!!! QUE TORNIN A ESPANYA I DEIXIN DE MOLESTAR! SI NO TE GUSTA FUERA!

  • This is Catalonia. Catalonia is not Spain!

  • EPIC RAGDOLL

  • this is not spain, freedom for catalonia

  • @fillfucker

    Spain

  • tu puta madre

  • tu puta madre

  • comete la verga mia

  • This is practised also in south of France, so the trait is no about Spain but about the original catalan land.

Note: the object is not to let the castle to fall down but to dissasemble it. That only happens when it fails.

  • spain??? this is a catalonian tradition!!

  • @argonitran by the way, the catalonian tradition is Spain if you don´t know...the day when they want to be a independent state I´ll agree with you!

  • @argonitran meeeec error.

  • @argonitran tradicio valenciana u sent tu....

  • Spain? The human towers are part of the cataland and valencian culture. An amazing one, i might add :)

  • and so also part of spain culture

  • cataluña y valencia estan en españa , aprende geografia

  • lmfao tumble 3:12

  • lol if i was one of those little kids on the way top i woulda fainted from the hight

  • thats pretty immense !

    surely that must hurt :|

  • 2 words...FUCKING AMAZING

  • Spain is a not a nation like France in the sense that the very name of Spain is a geographical denomination while France is primarily an ethnic one (the Franks). The extensive net of ties between Spain and any of its regions -regardless of their distinct personality- extends beyond a cultural anecdote to a full range of genetic, lingüistic, economic, genealogic, etc... realitties.

  • Valencia -where castellers first started- is not southern Catalonia. Valencia became part of the kingdom of Aragón with its conquest by James the first and its population speaks castillian in the western rough half and something similar but not an off shoot of it to catalan in the eastern half. Similarly, Catalonian is similar to Provençal but not an off shoot of it. Continues

  • This video should be titled "human pyramids - Catalonia". It has nothing to be with Spain.

It's a Catalan tradition, just practiced in Catalonia and other parts of the Catalan countries (Balerian Islands, North Catalonia [Perpinyà is the capital],..).

    Nice video, by the way!

  • Absolutely false. It is practised all over the lands that belonged

to the kongdom of Aragón. By the way, my very own ancestors established that kingdom and no one with knowledge of history and a modicum of honesty can say that Catalonia has nothing to do with Spain. To begin with, the very Spanish flag is a section of the bars that constitute the senyera of Catalonia.

  • You are wrong.

Yes, there was the kingdom or Aragon, but there aren't Castellers nowadays in the community of Aragon. Why? Because Castellers started at the end of the 18th century, and then this kingdom wasn't there anymore. But that's not really the reason. The reason is that Castellers started in the south of Catalonia, with its origin in a tradicional dance from Valencia. So Castellers were during almost two centuries a tradition of "Valls", not even a catalan tradition. What Spain does here?

  • Respect!!! and special Respect to the kids craweling all the way to the top

i can't even stand on the top of a 1,70m letter without holding to something

  • Comment removed

  • @QuanFTW, I'm from Barcelona and I can assure you that falling down is normal and they are hardly trained on how to collapse without problems. Look at 2:19, they are like cats, falling always with the legs down. Also on the ground there's a lot of teammates with arms in the air avoiding fallers to get hurt. So in the 99.9% of the collissions nobody get hurt. But as in other sports/shows, accidents happens

  • Really good to see these kind of festival, because it bring's people together, and i have seen the human pyramid in my Mumbai City, but this is really really amazing, I said because If we see then, these People do not use any support after Second level, which is really difficult to Balance, and need to put lot of effort's and practice too but these people do it. really Appreciate for your Performance.

  • wow this is amazing. Idk why but seeing them fall looks pretty cool, especially since they don't get hurt... XD

  • 3:11!! owned! fuck that

  • WOW

  • Brave little children on top. I hope they don't get forced to do it...

  • of course they are not forced to do it!!!! if children don't want to go up, then the castle is dismounted!!

  • @Troublesome2008, what do you think Spain is? they do that because they want to, because the feelings of being on top of a 15 meters human castle at the age of 6 or 7... Feelings that you probably won't live in your whole live.

  • Hi.The Method Use here is Gr8 bt I am Frm India Mumbai so for us it is festival. Some Major Group which do best in it can build up 7-8 human chain easy but they do this for hole day and this year the human change is now for 9 layer or Pyramids .

  • We have formed a human pyramid in India by our group "Mazgaon Dakshin Vibhag Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Tadwadi"....We formed a 9 tier human pyramid...n yeah v never practice for an year it ws just a one month practice......

    Mazgaon Tadwadi Roxx

  • we've try it at home... and it fail XD

  • these people have years of practice and sometimes they fall. How did you want not to fail "alma de cántaro"? O_ô

  • I saw a human pyramid once, it was totally unnecessary.

  • Did you want it to have a functioning purpose?

  • Why yes, yes I do as a matter of fact!

Lazy ass pyramids, never give shit back to the community!

  • Injury rates for castells are similar to those for soccer. Above all, this practice generates a deeply felt sense of community. FYI, the "greens" of Vilafranca may consider themselves the "experts" and "the best" but there are other colles (crews) as good or arguably "better". The Minyons (in the lavender shirts here) are the only colla that has made a 3 de 10 without falling and they say "els Minyons fem castells per collons" very roughly "We Minyons make castells for the hell of it".

  • so how many people broke bones?

  • jenga!!!!

  • lol, it used to be a religion, what u gonna do? Climb to heaven? xD

  • It's not a religion: it's roots are religious rituals, like trying to reproduce jesus on the cross in a human sculpture.

  • it's a tradition of my nation, so please, don't make fun of it ¬¬. And for your information it has nothing religious in it.

  • nowadays, I mean.

  • lol they stacked it

  • That's Spain fucking nacionalista de mierda. Take ur broke ass home!! hahaha

  • very

  • very

  • That's not Spain, that's Catalonia

  • Mad people!
