Are u kidding me, last yrs issues were around the head coach, johnny mac could not get the best out of the players, obviously u didn't watch the 2nd half once he was gone, kovy had what 8-9 game winning goals, he's a stud and will def help the devs get another cup or 2
I said while they were talking about this trade last summer that it would not matter if Kovalchuk came to New Jersey, so let them have him. They need a new goalie and defense to win a Stanley Cup, not some undisciplined superstar who gets angry at the drop of a hat. I stand corrected. New Jersey has battled their way out of being alone at the bottom by winning 8 of their last 10 games. They are now tied with the Islanders for last. I guess that Kovalchuk thing is working out after all!
@skater0313 They certainly have taken a HUGE risk. If Kovalchuk doesn't work out, his "stock" is likely to go down in value. What if he gets hurt and is never the same again? What if he just doesn't fit in on the team or doesn't score like expected? Who is going to pick up his salary in a trade? This just seems like a ridiculous decision on the part of the Devils management. If you want to win cups, you build your team around a goalie first, defense second, offense third.
@JBthree24 Actually, I think that the players we traded was a bad decision, I mean like, Johnny Oduya great defenseman and one of the top defensemen on the Devils, then comes the valueble and young Niklas Bergfors, I mean, he's an amazing sniper, and he had been one of the best Right wingers on the devils, then Patrice Cormier, meh he sucks. But then a 1ST ROUND PICK??????????????? I mean, I would just trade Bergfors and that 1st round pick and I would be fine with that!
