While having played thru first nagafen and vox kills on my server I can relate to how different Eq was in 1999 for someone wanting to play it a lot but the best days I ever got in Eq were At the end of kurnack when we were killing trakanon on spawn and venturing in veeshan peak and the whole velious expension killing aow tunare and ntov and st. Eq was one of a kind experience every friend I have says the same it lost its appeal after POP when they decided to milk the thing whit expensions
Yep, the good old days. The days that when you traveled for an hour and waited for a boat for 10 to 15 minutes, those were my favorite days. All the zones had a bunch of people in them. The east commons had over 200 people selling stuff. Every once in a while I would see a 50 warrior almost dead and a one of those lvl 5 snakes bit him once and he they would die. LOL
Seeing people in oasis kiting spectres and sand giants. Camping the gnolls in south karana.... ahhh good ol days for sure.
There was a certain magic to the game then, I'll admit. Despite all its little flaws and bugs, while the world felt a lot bigger, it also felt smaller in a comfortable way. It was amazing that it could take you over an hour to travel to your destination, and danger was around every corner -- just moving around was a grand accomplishment. Alas, those days are gone. I still play EQ, and I still enjoy it, just in different ways. :)
pretty cool you guys tried to preserve what was awesome, despite a company more intend on doing quick-fire expansions.
I hope that whether its EQClassic, or Sony putting it this new server in March, that we can play Classic everquest one more time.. i feel like its gonna be my last rpg before leaving school and moving on in life. WoW, vanguard, eve, swg, sb, Lineage 2, TR, warhammer and daoc, have never brought the kind of intrigue and excitement EQ use to bring.
Looking at this from a different angle, there's still a lot more in life.
As much as I enjoy watching these movies with nostalgia, it really only makes me depressed and frustrated that I can't go back and live again in the times of EverQuest. It came and it went and now its gone.
I'll find other things and, there will be a new "EverQuest" experience, something that I'll look back on and miss dearly.

@1kkinz Same <3 EQ was a wicked part of my life. It's been 6 years since I quit and I still miss it.

Incredible!
I also had a guild that did this called "Vanishing Light" on Fennin Ro dedicated to downing Nag and Vox.
The guild eventually "grew up" but it was fun while we lasted.
