but why would man of such marvelous intellect like that be so deeply in love with gullible woman that he would kill him self for thinking she can't marry him any time soon.
With or without the fly-comma that note was pretty ambiguous. Without the comma it almost sounds like the husband is planning to send out hit-men to put everyone involved out of their misery o.O
@MintyInTheSky I thought the same thing! I reckoned he'd simply mis-read the meaning, thinking the husband was going to kill the wife so he just put himself out of his future misery!
Wow, I can't even remember writing that comment! On rereading it I don't think that 'one would have to suffer much longer' is even semantically correct, 'one' wouldn't be used like that in either dialect. So I can't remember what I meant, sorry. Still, great video!!
@MintyInTheSky the term 'one' is often used to replace 'I' in formal English writing/speech.. so he read it as "he said no, I would have to suffer much longer.."
@SiriusPunk No, "one" doesn't replace "I". "One" is a third-person pronoun. MintyInTheSky is right in that the note is ambiguous either way, but in my opinion it's especially confusing with the comma.
I'd assume from the fact that there is no reference to it in the credits that it was composed specially for the episode, and made to sound like several classic big band tunes.
Use a hyphen, save a life.

@doidaepekena Are you American? I think that in British English it is less ambiguous. Anyway, great episode thanks Callzum2!

@DKukiewicz Erm, the note would have the same meaning in both British and American English, so I don't understand your comment.

I really can suspend my disbelief just so far. This episode really reached a little too far. The score was really nice, though.

I love Jonathan Creek, but wish Caroline Quentin stayed in it. Her and Alan Davies were so good together!
