  • this bass ..this bass ..this bass ...and this bass again

would give me enough energy for the rest of my life

  • Thank you for posting this original 45 single - I had the same one! Fab song - so nostalgic - when music was music!!!

  • Supremes never missed a beat without Diana. Jean/supremes and the Funk brothers were ecellent. Up the ladder, another great song/hit without Diana.I think some of their best when she left. The many hits from the "original" group also were great. shame so many great groups split over sharing the spotlight.Same with the Temps, Miracles and others.Individuals can go on to great stuff but the magic of the groups are lost. Gotta love motown!! Never be another like it! True R&B great music/memories

  • Stone Love is the real title , Stoned is a misprint that

    was never corrected

    Fantastic song !

  • Great Video !

  • Jean terrell is sinigin lead on this diana had been gone already

  • Jean terrell is sinigin lead on this

  • mary is singing this

  • Thank you MotownMagic1959 for the great tune. I hadn't heard it before and I love Motown!

  • Ahh Baby, this song just rocks. Dynamic. Superb. The super Supremes!

  • OF CORS ITS DIANA ROSS,, PLZZZ

    this is not diana ross

  • Classic - just love it

  • 1970年、大好きだった、ダイアナ・ロスが脱けた後の、このシュープリームスの"STONED LOVE"~70年代も絶対よかったナ!

  • A #1 song for The Supremes on the Rhythm & Blues charts and the final #1 for them on any chart. It was the 218th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era and the final #1 R&B song of 1970. It was #7 on the Top 40 charts, #5 on the Cashbox charts, #3 in the United Kingdom, and #24 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

  • love this song every time I hear it

  • Sure is awesome then and now .

  • :((

  • Great song from the Motown days!

  • ~~~AWESOME~~~

  • summer of '72...one, blissful and fleeting moment when several of us barbequed steaks and drank beer in northwest Detroit, We were blacks, whites, arabs and we danced to this music hoping that all the politics could be forgotten and that we could just be FRIENDS!

  • Smoke a few spliffs then get it on with whoever..You got..."STONED LOVE"

  • love it

  • Love the video. Some legends there.

    Thanks for posting it mate.

  • Released as Motown 1172(October 1970)and written by Yennek Samoht(Kenny Thomas)& Frank Wilson

  • some epic names in that video.

  • JEAN TERRELL AND GIRLS. FANTASTIC SONG. GODBLESS THE SUPREMES, MINUS SO CALLED MS ROSS.

  • the youth of today...are you listening ?

  • Beautiful record still. It got played everyday in Detroit on CKLW (Windsor) and WKNR, WCHB and just all the rest. Mary Wilson, Jean Terrell and Cindy Birdsong! Thank you ladies.

  • I love this - an absolute delight, a fabulous homage. Well done creating this splendid Motown montage. I was a 60’s kid and this song is so evocative of them there times and those pics are really emblematic of the amazing strides forward. Thanks.

  • I was born in 1963 but I remember this song playing all the time. I didn't realize how positive and spiritual this song is/was. Beautiful!

  • Great job on the video to go along with a great classic

  • There was NOTHING like Motown...it was the best music EVER!

  • @hotdog1960 yor more than wright

  • @hotdog1960 too rite ...mod era was well gud :-)

  • Great Motown montage !! And the sound is excellent !! You took good care of the 45, obviously... Thanks for posting, MotownMagic1959 !!

  • Classic Motown- great arrangement by a classy bunch of singers;thanks for the classic video to go along with the classic song!!

  • Fantastic! Love the Motown tribute. Nice work MotownMagic1959! :)

  • @ivyfield - While Diana Ross may not be on this particular hit, she was a MAJOR contributor to Motown and, like her or not, a very talented artist. She rightly deserves to be on this Motown tribute. Great post, John (MotownMagic1959)!!

  • If your foot aint tappin........you are no doubt dead ;)

  • 2 people have never been stoned!!

  • This was the first record the Supremes released following the departure of Diana Ross and I remember it was (quite rightly) a massive hit. Still a great record today.

  • @MisterBlue55 - Thank you.

  • If God wrote a pop song, it would sound a lot like this..

  • stoned love - black definition; love of the weed

  • Can't hate the oldies! Where do you think all the crappy remixes come from? Thats right folks, THE ORIGINALS!

    RESPECT!

  • By far my favorite Supremes tune.

  • Belting song.

  • wow a blast from the past i remember singing along to this at a local nightclub every weekend brilliant , songs like this are true classics and the motown era was a time of peace and happiness many can recall

    thankyou for the memories

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm

  • Aw the poor Marvelettes. Mo

  • Can`t you feel it?

  • @jackw220862 i know i can

  • wow this is a awesome tune! .....heard it on the radioas a lost classic didn`t know it was the Supremes....i don`t like diana ross at all>such a fake person ugh! .....but love this tune...i bet she somehow had the airplay of this song halted ....because you never hear it.....

  • This is best song that the supremes ever did and with out Diana Ross

  • what a great tune... Was Diana in the group at this time... It doesnt sound like she was... But they sound great!!!! Whoever is singing lead she sounds wonderful..

  • Proving that the Supremes didn't need Diana Ross. The girls were back to singing together again and sounded just great. Check out "Up the Ladder to the Roof" among others.

  • SOLID GOLD SMASH HIT 1970 !

  • Motowns finest !!

  • Anyone who might think the Supremes just wouldn't work without Diana should take a listen to this masterpiece.

  • Love this. True classic

  • Great sound. Thank you.

  • be urself...break n old habit....learn a new skill... enroll in yoga.. swim.. be happy be merry.. get involved.... volunteeer.

  • A real classic. Am I gettin' old? A lot of the music today simply is not in the same class

  • This is the best song that the Supremes ever did with or with out Diana Ross.

This is back when music was great. Then the end of the 70's came the Cancer of top 40 radio Disco Music.

  • One of the best!

  • the supreme did not have more # 1 that the beatles i dont know why yll saying that and then yll said combined. the supremes had 12. the beatles 18. Elvis 17.the stones 5. beach boys 4.

  • I love this song. Brings back alot of memories of highschool

  • Why have you put pictures of Diana Ross on this video - it's NOTHING to do with her!

  • @ivyfield If you look through you will see I've just got all my Motown pictures from the 60's mostly as I know it's Jean Terrell who is singing after Diana Ross left the group to sing solo, it's meant to be a tribute to Motown in general as is my other 278 or so singles and tracks I put on :-) JOHN

  • @MotownMagic1959 I was about 15 when this came out. Thanks for putting it out there and doing this video.

  • @marinello6 Thank you for listening, I'm glad you like it, I wish Motown was still turning out these great sounds, but I used to collect all the singles back in the 60's and 70's I'm glad to say. Thanks to all the others for your comments. JOHN

  • @MotownMagic1959 I wish all of the songs from the sixties and early seventies would make a come back so that I did not have to hear shit like Little Wayne. I really do not get the newer stuff at all and I think that in 15 years when he is old, the next generation will laugh at him. The old timers really had great voices and the writers wrote great songs that are timeless. What can we do John? I guess all that matters is that we all appreciate this great music from a time past.

  • @ivyfield lol trying to sound cleaver

  • @ivyfield I agree with you, give total credit for this great song to Jean, Mary, and Cindy. They sounded GREAT !!! Wish they had other hits as great as this.

  • its very funny cause diana ross is not even in this song its the supremes lol diana ross went solo i believe at this point?? @ivyfield

  • I remember when I was in the US Navy, I was on the carrier John F. Kennedy as she was returning from a Med cruise in '71 or '72 and this was playing from the ships loud speakers as we were docking at Norfolk VA. What memories!

  • yes Motown will be loved for decades to come, such excellence, now dont forget Dusty Springfield who so adored all motown sound and opened many doors in England, with love and respect to her fellow soul singers, may she R I P.

  • @Vstar4me Yes indeed Dusty was the best thing that happened for Motown in Britain back in 1965 the "Ready Steady Go" show that she did was brilliant. Wasn't she a fantastic singer too, she used to live near to a friend of mine in London. JOHN

  • @MotownMagic1959 Cool, yeah Dustys biggest time was the 60s, and she was so hip to have tuned into motown!! How lucky your friend was there in London!!

I understand Dusty adored the soul and blues sounds very early in her life! Telling her Nuns, I want to grow up and be a Blues singer!! ha!

  • @Vstar4me

    I wont' forget Dusty, ever!

  • @Andante735 She was a gem!

  • @Vstar4me so nice of you to remember the greatest female voice outside motown-the great Dusty; she definitely opened up the doors for motown.and others as well

  • @aershamus thank you, I think Dusty heard and knew that very very special edge to singing that Black Women come by so naturally. God is Good and Fair!

Dusty was Hip , and quite Intelligent. One of her happiest moments was being allowed to sing w/ Martha Vandrell.

Even Elvis must credit much of his early influence on his African American Brother neighbors! Who kindly allowed the kid in. We are one people.

  • @Vstar4me "We are one"

I like the way you think, but unfortunately there are still many bigots out there. Live a healthy spiritual life and with that said, there is nothing more to say.

  • @Vstar4me we are truly one people. Peace

  • @wellersong7 No matter what we need to hang on to the beautifull 1960s/70s, that brought us all together under one night sky for the love of music, put the Black hand in the White hand and you get rock and roll, then legends would only follow.

  • @Vstar4me .... love Dusty Springfield .... x

  • Love, Love,Love my Motown. I believe the best music of all time came out of Detoit!! The Mowtown sound changed the whole music industry. There is No doubt about it

  • good old school days

  • My favorite Supremes line-up! Jean Terrell was pure vocalist

  • G E N I U S...the music of my life...many thanks for posting

    Wayne in Texas.

  • This is brilliant.

  • My favorite Supremes tune!! Diana Ross did some great songs when she was leading them, but this one holds a special place in my heart. It sends a powerful message of what this country and the rest of the world needs...LOVE FOR EACH OTHER!! 40 years later and it's still a stellar song with that strong feeling of hope and love.

  • Yes, jabnhook2 so right. I miss those times very much when here in the UK, Motown was always at the top of the charts. The Supremes were good after Diana too, I saw them once on November 39th 1971 and they were so good (with Jean Terrell)!

    JOHN

  • Timeless !!

  • This great song reached #7 in 1970, their greatest hit post-Diana Ross. Most of the titles of their greatest hits contained the word "love."

  • Sheer class

  • IF MY HEART STOPPED ...this would revive me ....

  • thanks for this tune motown.. have this on the supremes number ones album, it is actually a longer version.. love the motown stuff especially the song written by the late johnny bristol someday we'll be together .. keep the spirit of real music alive 1!!

  • This song should be play today considering the world is at war and especially The Unites States. The message is good. I hope some rercord this song.

  • no#1 december 26th 1970!written by frank wilson & kenny thomas!still sound good after 39 years!

  • just the best...

  • my boys love it

  • Great song and I like your presentation of this song.

  • super track!

  • people will still be playing this in 20 years ,a record that deserves to be called a classic, long may it be played and enjoyed

  • Absolutely! When I listen to this, I hear time stand still, beehives are back and we're all dancing! Peace be with you!

  • can someone please tell me the name of this song and who its by go to my page to see it

  • I'm puzzled do you not read the title at the top or my review? it's Stoned Love by The Supremes and was a No 1 track in 1970, you were only just born then right? JOHN

  • not this tune she means the one on her page ........go there to see it how difficult is that to understand

  • Oh! apologies for that m8, I will thanks. JOHN

  • Big up to our sisters who voices touch not only my soul, but millions across the world.

The Supremes were just a great soul group, whether Sister Diana, Sister Mary and Sister Flo up to Sister Jean and Sister Cindy, they were just class, our sisters, The Supremes.

  • oh baby..............

  • Thank you for sharing, The Great Maker Smiles Upon YOU.

  • step back in time..........nice............

  • Amazing how some songs never get old & this is one of them : )

  • This is one of the first records I bought as a child. Saved up every cent I had for The Supremes(back then all you needed was pocket change). Thanks for the memories!

  • Me too! First two I purchased...eight years old. Stoned Love and The Tears of a Clown...

  • "time after time when doubt creeps in"

I find no other greater symbol of love

    Sing it sugar X

  • Love the song and love the video ! Thanks for posting !

  • A truly magnificent single that, along with 'Up The Ladder To The Roof', kills everything Diana Ross sang. EVERYTHING.

  • I was 14 when this song was at the top of the charts. I loved it then and I am so enjoying here on YouTube. The Supremes turned out some great music even after Diana left the group, as this song shows.

I wish the music today sounded more like this. I notice the music I listened too growing up had a beginning, middle and an end.

A song today just stays the same throughout the song. No change in tempo and no refrain.

  • Jean Terrell's hard - edged vocals were perfect for this classic- Diana's nasal purring would never have worked on this one

  • still sends a shiver down my spine.

  • The Bass line is one of the funkiest ever done by none other than Mr. James Jemerson

  • James Jemerson and the rest of the Funk Brothers, Motown's band, were the greatest musicians there ever was in my book for getting on to 50 years they played in the background on every Motown single and track! although many of them are no longer here I will always remember them, how many will agree with me? :-) JOHN

  • @MotownMagic1959 You are so correct. More #1's than Elvis, The Stones, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys COMBINED!!!...nuff said

  • Sorry that should have read November 29th 1971! I saw them at the Dome here in Brighton, where ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest around that time :-) JOHN

  • This is the ABSOLUTE best record the Supremes ever made!

  • a true classic that will be played for years to come, this song will out last any record that is produced today because it was created by people with true passion for music and enjoying what they was doing

people today just want the money with no care

  • This song still makes me cry. A song that defined the era. And the very best Supremes song ever sung.

  • I liked how the dubbed synth riff is amped up just a bit more in this Youtube version. Motown songs that went synth or psych always went dub to please the Nixon audiences which annoyed me. I hope they find the recording where the synth doesn't sound so dubbed but then again with the right amplification, it maintains a certain charm. Because of that synth, this is the Supremes' best song as well as the singing.

  • Very good photomontage and I love The Supremes ! Bravo and thank you for posting it !

  • Glad you liked my collection, you may have seen the Motown 50th Aniversary Programme on BBC 1 today Friday January 9th. I was very sorry to hear Norman Whitfield of Motown(Temptations) had just died, too!

    JOHN

  • Am i ablet to catch BBC online?

  • Now that's some history right there.

    Thanks for posting this.

    Great.

  • oh yesssssssss! im doing norther soul all over the downstairs of my house!!!!!!!!!! i realy dont care what my kids think!!!!!

  • I'm only going as far as tapping the ouse with my finger, but anything that makes me do that has gotta be good, eh?

    What a tune.

  • This is easily the most melodic and propulsive of all the Supremes songs. A masterpiece :)

  • Love this song! Could listen to it allday!!!!

  • This went to #1 on the Soul charts in '70. Impressive since 'the girls' hadn't been on those charts for a while...

The most soulful of all Supremes' records...

don'tcha hear the wind blowin'? Jean, what a voice!

  • This song hit # 1 the day I was born and that's why it's my second favorite song of all time along with Reflections.

  • Of course she did. I did know that, hahahaha.

    Still love em both. xx

  • sounds good in stereo, if u know how to type it in.

  • Hi Colettedave, The Supremes didn't record Touch Me In The Morning..Diana Ross as a solo did, in 1973. This Supremes record is the one with Mary, Cindy and Diana's replacement in 1970, Jean Terrell. (That other's a great song, too, though!) ;)

  • You've done it again Motown M sweet, heavenly great job.

  • thank you

  • One of there best tracks,.ktf.

  • Great Memories of 1970!!
