Bravo! I first heard this piece fortunately in symphony hall at the Woodruff Arts Center (ASO)
. from the first chords i was rapt, I now know it by heart from a recording the liner notes spoke of his source, the Isenheim, which i also studied and wrote a paper on for an art history course(@ACA ,same building). I have always envisioned the painting while listening to the music and vice versa. What a magnificent job you've done reading my mind all these years
@annie2shoes Thank you so much for listening and sharing your comment! It seems this Hindemith work always sounds fresh and new no matter how many times it is repeated. The Isenhein Altar likewise is an infinite source of inspiration. What a wonderful subject for a thesis!
