This fifteen minute battle took me three tries with changing paradigms and monsters. Noel was the one with the most HP, 5200:P I had almost finished him, and i had around 200 hp with everyone.. Then i saw he counted down to one! But Serah used a killing Ruin on him the second before he used gigaflare. *Almost shit my pants moment*
For me, the boss was a breez. EXCEPT THAT GOD DAMN TERAFLARE !!!!! That killed me so many times... But then I grinded like a ***** (I had the growth egg skill :)), and well... Nothing to worry about ;)
This fight took incredibly long for me. I fought him with the minimum requirements that were given in the strategy guide. The Tortoise paradigm saved me alot of times...
Orphan wasn't really a boss, he was really just a.. well kill me and try to get a Trophy and Theme..
In terms of actually being a boss I find Jet Bahamut to be the easiest final boss in Final Fantasy. But, the game is rather easy except for a few optional bosses, so can't really expect the Final Boss to be too hard.
Well when I did fight him I had about 120 Fragments, Serah and Noel were 99, had a max level Gold Choco, had Lightning at her max level, and the Chaos Crystal weapons, so I found him easy.
Besides his Dying Sun attack, that thing was badass.
I found the Caius in Oerba quite difficult, so then after that I overlevelled like a bitch.
I found the last boss fight relatively easy, you just had to be VERY quick with the Paradigm switches, and understand what moves did the most damage to you, like that fucking terraflare move :|
The first version of human Caius was a tad difficult during the final fight… But I think that's because he was targeting serah who was our primary medic…Oh and two out of three of the teams monsters were quite weak. BUT NOT OUR SILVER CHOCOBO!!!! XD
I felt like this game was way to easy to beat o.o Usually in final fantasy games I had to level up my characters a lot to beat the last boss or any boss for that matter. This game I didn't have to level up at all..it just felt way to easy. Even fighting Caius was WAY to easy and I felt like they could have made him a really epic villain :/
@0o0FallenStar0o0 Really? I found the Final Boss hard. I faced it once and died, so I did some major leveling in Academia 400 AF. I also found the Oerba Caius to be extremely hard... but not the Valhalla ones.
@SauruKakera I don't know why it was so easy for me, cause I'm not a pro at video games yet XD So I level up a lot but I didn't level up at all in this game. I did die twice during the last boss but I beat it after. And I didn't find Caius hard there. But I still enjoyed playing the game :p
@0o0FallenStar0o0 Yeh i was figuring due to the optional design of the game, many parts were getting too easy and others were insanely hard (being tackled at wrong time, lol no pun intended). I didn't level them up for a good 100,000 CP, as i wanted to make it more difficult. Apart from the monsters, i did feel the battle system was pretty limited in this one, more so than the previous sadly.
@Invertedzero I found it very similar to Tales of Symphonia's sequal. In that you have 2 main protaganists that recruit monsters to fight in the party. But at least in ToS2 you get to also play as the original cast (even though their stats are limited). But that's what I saw in this game. I hope that there are more characters such as the original cast in FFXIII-3 that are playable and not just temporary or guest. I don't like having to use monsters. And I want the old Crystarium.
@0o0FallenStar0o0 It was quite the opposite for me, I felt underlevelled for a LOT of the boss fights. Had to change the final boss fights to Easy just to get through the story. Although I will admit the missions in the Archytle Steppe have ridiculous CP rewards (30k for Long Gui for example).
This fight made me realise how crap I built my characters on the first play through... then it gave me a crap ending, as if to say, "No, you scraped through that like a wuss, go back and do it again."
Thank god this final fantasy is actually as hard as most of it's predecessors!

There are multiple endings, but you don't get them by things you do earlier in the game. These are "Paradox Endings", which leads to the end of the journey, but not the game. You may have encountered one of them if you selected "Yes" with the dream Lightning asked you to stay in the dream new Bodhum.
Best Dlc Idea ever. As they did with Lightning and Amodar, bring other FF characters in the colliseum. Squall, Cloud as Coms. You know, lionheart as feral link... O_O"
@morokai The combat's really more about the paradigm switching than it is selecting attacks. Difficult battles will find you swapping paradigms in an almost twitchy manner.
The ending in this game made me cry. It wasn't just a "YES! I JUST BEAT YOU!!!" like in FFXIII... these were actual tears of sorrow. SQUARE-ENIX... you better make a FFXIII-3!
@SauruKakera Id rather it be DLC, then people wont have to wait as long. And id rather they work on some new story then keep on giving XIII sequals. Or a remake of another FF would be good.
@xSecamx Could possibly be a mis-translation or something like that, but the names are still somewhat similar (unseen=invisible, abyss is rather deep). There's other song tracks i've seen on Youtube for 13-2's songs that don't match up with the other names i've seen for them, but are close enough.

@chroxx90 It's not as bad as you might think it is. Forces you to think your party setup through a whole lot more since you can't control one of the members aside from their limit break move(feral link, i think its called)
@chroxx90 It gives you a more unique aspect at customizing your paradigms. You have freedom of rain at what you do with your team. You can have a Cait Sith to constantly heal you, a Behemoth to do all the brute force for you, etc etc. It's a wider variety of team options.
so agree. i remember changing my team and setting up different paradigms all the time. this game let me cruise in Relentless Assault for about 90% of the fights

I know i've been giving a lot of shit about this game if any of you have seen any video comments with my channel name on it. However, i kind ahad an epiphany after playing the demo. To be honest, its not to bad. I still think that if they wanted a sequel to XIII, at least wait until Versus XIII is on the shelves. and the fact that there will most definatly be a XIII-3 after the ending of this, is it really neccesary?

First things first, Noel, Hope, and Sazh are never shown dying - the ship they are on kinda just gets blasted by a gust of darkness and floats offscreen and then isnt shown again. They didn't disentegrate or whatever most people are saying. As for Lightning, she just appeared to be crystallized/petrified to me - hardly a death sentance in a Final Fantasy game. As far as I can tell, the only characters who died in this game are Serah. Yuel(a bunch), and possibly the Moogle.
@TheAvidGamer91 SPOILERS!, Serah supposly dies because she has a vision of an unknown future, while noel, hope and the moogle mourns her death, lightning has been petrified to protect etro's shrine of caius attacks, so that's why they need to have FF13-3 because lightning needs to wake up from their petrified slumber and possibly needs help from other people so she can go back to the past and save Serah and Snow, that's my opinion.
@chroxx90 is that what you got from that. I thought lightning was on the throne to protect the world from that evil power that was unsealed when etro died. Since valhalla has appeared in the world they should be able to go back in time and save serah some how. If they are gonna make a third one lightning should definetly be the main character
@chroxx90 i think the monster idea was creative and cool although i think if they did make another they should have more main characters to select from but if you wanted to still be able to collect and use monsters limit breaks/feral attacks like on the side. like the equipped monster can jump in real quick. i also think that there should be more attacks added to the commando paradigm. lightning should have a diff outfit and should be slightly more powerful to start off with as well
@kitsunade maybe, I hope that for the next game they should have at least 6 or 7 main characters and the monsters could play as a "guest" in a battle, still you can customise them, and for the paradigm change in battle you can assign one of your character into the specifically paradigm role and while changing your paradigm in battle for example: snow/rav, light/com, hope/med, you can change your characters assigned in the paradigm deck: sazh/sen, vanille/med, fang/sab, you understand?
@chroxx90 that would be an intersting idea kind of like how when you switch a paradigm you switch the monster as well. that could add another twist and force you to work on all characters not just some and u would have to deal with each characters individual weakness and strengths
@chroxx90 the story was confusing which isnt a bad thing it makes sense to be confusing because what would happen if time really did warp? SHit would be confusing as hell so it makes sense that it didnt make sense sometimes but i think i grasp the overall idea they are trying to convey there is a much greater enemy and threat behind it all which is that darkness etro was holding back
@chroxx90 makes me wonder though how they plan on defeating an enemy that can only be defeated by etro when etro is supposedly dead and lightning is sleeping. someone is gonna have to gain some mega powers somehow. serah isnt dead either all souls return to valhalla so now that its part of the real world she should be there too. if they can polish the first one and second and bring it all together in a complete form not lacking anything the third one has the potential to be really good
@kitsunade and maybe for the other game chaos is the priority main villan, and final boss in the story and it could be a fusion of orphan and caius bahamut form and the main antagonist of FF13-3
@chroxx90 i think the chaos will be the final enemy. i remember them saying it is a formless creature of malice and evil so i suppose it could look like whatever it wanted. now that valhalla is in the world time no longer exists the world of the dead is now with the living so i think noel will go looking for serah n her sis. i think you should be able to play with everyone like hopes older self, sazh, noel, the older snow, and fang and vanille have been rescued so they should unfreeze
@chroxx90 everyone should now be part of the same world and i think they should somehow be reunited and i mean everyone the whole crew including noel and serah and they should band together to fight this thing. there has to be a way to revive etro as well

He got exactly what he wanted, and as of the ending of 13-2, the good guys have lost. Whether or not that will hold through to the end of 13-3 or the DLC ending or whatever route Square Enix goes remains to be seen. As an aside - how AWESOME would it be if 13-3 had a party of Noel, Hope, and Sazh?
@TheAvidGamer91 Nah. Serah/Lightning (at different points - JRPGs have taken this tactic before), Dajh (teen), Noel, Hope (adult, give better weapon..), Snow, Fang and/or Vanille involved in some way, and at least one new character, and I'd be happy.
And a semi-humourous spinoff game with NORA like they do with Kingdom Hearts spinnoffs wouldn't be out of bounds for me. Monster hunting on Pulse and a fal'cie storyline ;)
Nya, I kinda have the feeling that SE will make FFXIII-3 as a movie. FFXIII-2 is some kind of "filler".
The FFVII Compilation had one so why shouldn't Fabula nova crystallis get one too?
However... we all got Toriyama'd with the ending of XIII-2. All characters are still alive (some of them crystallized or sleeping yeah, but pretty much alive.) and the world is going down... that's not the way SE would let end one of their games.
i apologize if for wasting your time if you already know, but the "to be continued" is there because SE is planning on expanding the timeline with DLC content. i'm sure the story will continue then
@dekaidoku Kefka wasn't a good villain just because he (mostly) won, he won because he was an awesome villain. Destroying the world was just a natural part of his characterization, which is why it had such an impact on how people remembered him. Caius had a much less enjoyable personality, and his "victory" felt more like a twist ending than part of his character.
Of course, he was still a hell of a lot better than Barthandelus (and most "bad villains"), just not a "truly great villain."
@dekaidoku no not all the characters are dead. the only person that is truly dead is serah and that doesnt matter now that valhalla has been summoned she is still part of the world now. Lightning is sleeping along with vanille and fang. sazh is still alive so is hope and noel, now that time has been broken snow should return not sure on that one though. but all the main characters are either alive or forzen but still alive. so its not over just yet

Well I haven't played it yet so I can't decide. From what I've see so far I both love and hate some stuff, but I have been proven wrong countless times, so I won't judge until I play it. And I definitely will play it since I'm more or less HC FF fan, so it's a must. :P

@OnyxCrest Well, he is a challenge if you don't sidequest, like any JRPG.
That is a fun challenge. If you don't he is EASILY the most difficult, even if you are well versed with character optimization.
I just recently beat the game with a minimalistic no cp grinding. Only story fragments, and no monsters challenge.
This guy took 99 potions and 36 elixirs. A challenge indeed.

There are multiple endings, but you don't get them by things you do earlier in the game. These are "Paradox Endings", which leads to the end of the journey, but not the game. You may have encountered one of them if you selected "Yes" with the dream Lightning asked you to stay in the dream new Bodhum.

@morokai The combat's really more about the paradigm switching than it is selecting attacks. Difficult battles will find you swapping paradigms in an almost twitchy manner.

The ending in this game made me cry. It wasn't just a "YES! I JUST BEAT YOU!!!" like in FFXIII... these were actual tears of sorrow. SQUARE-ENIX... you better make a FFXIII-3!

@xSecamx Could possibly be a mis-translation or something like that, but the names are still somewhat similar (unseen=invisible, abyss is rather deep). There's other song tracks i've seen on Youtube for 13-2's songs that don't match up with the other names i've seen for them, but are close enough.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST EPIC FINAL BOSSES I HAVE EVER FOUGHT. they just look so intimidating when you start and i was like o they are weak this will be to easy buut ooooo no when he started reviving the other two and using that dying sun attack noel was literally the last one alive with 2 hp at one point after that attack that shit was so epic im getting chills thinking about that. i just beat it today.

@chroxx90 It's not as bad as you might think it is. Forces you to think your party setup through a whole lot more since you can't control one of the members aside from their limit break move(feral link, i think its called)

@chroxx90 It gives you a more unique aspect at customizing your paradigms. You have freedom of rain at what you do with your team. You can have a Cait Sith to constantly heal you, a Behemoth to do all the brute force for you, etc etc. It's a wider variety of team options.

I know i've been giving a lot of shit about this game if any of you have seen any video comments with my channel name on it. However, i kind ahad an epiphany after playing the demo. To be honest, its not to bad. I still think that if they wanted a sequel to XIII, at least wait until Versus XIII is on the shelves. and the fact that there will most definatly be a XIII-3 after the ending of this, is it really neccesary?

@dekaidoku SPOILERS!!! First things first, Noel, Hope, and Sazh are never shown dying - the ship they are on kinda just gets blasted by a gust of darkness and floats offscreen and then isnt shown again. They didn't disentegrate or whatever most people are saying. As for Lightning, she just appeared to be crystallized/petrified to me - hardly a death sentance in a Final Fantasy game. As far as I can tell, the only characters who died in this game are Serah. Yuel(a bunch), and possibly the Moogle.

@TheAvidGamer91 SPOILERS!, Serah supposly dies because she has a vision of an unknown future, while noel, hope and the moogle mourns her death, lightning has been petrified to protect etro's shrine of caius attacks, so that's why they need to have FF13-3 because lightning needs to wake up from their petrified slumber and possibly needs help from other people so she can go back to the past and save Serah and Snow, that's my opinion.

@chroxx90 is that what you got from that. I thought lightning was on the throne to protect the world from that evil power that was unsealed when etro died. Since valhalla has appeared in the world they should be able to go back in time and save serah some how. If they are gonna make a third one lightning should definetly be the main character

@chroxx90 i think the monster idea was creative and cool although i think if they did make another they should have more main characters to select from but if you wanted to still be able to collect and use monsters limit breaks/feral attacks like on the side. like the equipped monster can jump in real quick. i also think that there should be more attacks added to the commando paradigm. lightning should have a diff outfit and should be slightly more powerful to start off with as well

@kitsunade maybe, I hope that for the next game they should have at least 6 or 7 main characters and the monsters could play as a "guest" in a battle, still you can customise them, and for the paradigm change in battle you can assign one of your character into the specifically paradigm role and while changing your paradigm in battle for example: snow/rav, light/com, hope/med, you can change your characters assigned in the paradigm deck: sazh/sen, vanille/med, fang/sab, you understand?

@chroxx90 that would be an intersting idea kind of like how when you switch a paradigm you switch the monster as well. that could add another twist and force you to work on all characters not just some and u would have to deal with each characters individual weakness and strengths

SHit would be confusing as hell so it makes sense that it didnt make sense sometimes but i think i grasp the overall idea they are trying to convey there is a much greater enemy and threat behind it all which is that darkness etro was holding back

@chroxx90 makes me wonder though how they plan on defeating an enemy that can only be defeated by etro when etro is supposedly dead and lightning is sleeping. someone is gonna have to gain some mega powers somehow. serah isnt dead either all souls return to valhalla so now that its part of the real world she should be there too. if they can polish the first one and second and bring it all together in a complete form not lacking anything the third one has the potential to be really good

@chroxx90 i think the chaos will be the final enemy. i remember them saying it is a formless creature of malice and evil so i suppose it could look like whatever it wanted. now that valhalla is in the world time no longer exists the world of the dead is now with the living so i think noel will go looking for serah n her sis. i think you should be able to play with everyone like hopes older self, sazh, noel, the older snow, and fang and vanille have been rescued so they should unfreeze

@dekaidoku Again, SPOILERS!!! But then again, that doesn't change the fact that Caius more or less won in this game. He got exactly what he wanted, and as of the ending of 13-2, the good guys have lost. Whether or not that will hold through to the end of 13-3 or the DLC ending or whatever route Square Enix goes remains to be seen. As an aside - how AWESOME would it be if 13-3 had a party of Noel, Hope, and Sazh?

@TheAvidGamer91 Nah. Serah/Lightning (at different points - JRPGs have taken this tactic before), Dajh (teen), Noel, Hope (adult, give better weapon..), Snow, Fang and/or Vanille involved in some way, and at least one new character, and I'd be happy.
And a semi-humourous spinoff game with NORA like they do with Kingdom Hearts spinnoffs wouldn't be out of bounds for me. Monster hunting on Pulse and a fal'cie storyline ;)

Nya, I kinda have the feeling that SE will make FFXIII-3 as a movie. FFXIII-2 is some kind of "filler".
The FFVII Compilation had one so why shouldn't Fabula nova crystallis get one too?
However... we all got Toriyama'd with the ending of XIII-2. All characters are still alive (some of them crystallized or sleeping yeah, but pretty much alive.) and the world is going down... that's not the way SE would let end one of their games.

@dekaidoku Kefka wasn't a good villain just because he (mostly) won, he won because he was an awesome villain. Destroying the world was just a natural part of his characterization, which is why it had such an impact on how people remembered him. Caius had a much less enjoyable personality, and his "victory" felt more like a twist ending than part of his character.
Of course, he was still a hell of a lot better than Barthandelus (and most "bad villains"), just not a "truly great villain."

@dekaidoku no not all the characters are dead. the only person that is truly dead is serah and that doesnt matter now that valhalla has been summoned she is still part of the world now. Lightning is sleeping along with vanille and fang. sazh is still alive so is hope and noel, now that time has been broken snow should return not sure on that one though. but all the main characters are either alive or forzen but still alive. so its not over just yet
