how are you able to afford all of this? Your are awesome btw. Good luck with everything! im 18 and really want to get the most out of my life. i really want to tour. Start of small.like state to state. I was thinking about a ninja 650. like what you have. I live in Pennsylvania. What do you think? is there kits large enough to carry gear for the 650. or should i just get a klr.
Atlas Rider I'm following your trip with great interest, and have an important (moneywise) tip for you: keep a detailed account any way you can, and write a book. There are very few motorcycle adventure authors out there. You're lucky you can be one of them. I would buy the book. I have Neal Davis' book "Motorcycle Journeys Through Southern Mexico", from Whitehorse Press. I think you would do very well as an author, and it could finance your future trips. Good Roads to you;que tengas suerte!
lol you weren't to far from the hood lol. i almost went to school in STL. then i found out my roomate would have us living in a bad neighborhood. so i heading to indianna instead.
Thanks for the update Atlas. Although I got a reasonable idea of scale of that arch from the video, I bet it's even more impressive when you're right next to it. I reckon you should of taken the KLR off road at the lights and quickly nipped up over the grass to take a closer look ;-)

@torqsworld He might even be able to squeeze the KLR into the funky elevators that go up inside the arch, if he tried really hard and everybody pulled their feet up to their knees. :) Atlas, you're from Chicago and you've *never* gone up? Shoot, I'm a hick from KC and I've been up twice. lol ;) Happy trails.
Wow dejavu. Me and my friend walked across right in front of were you stopped the second time, about 3 months ago. crazy seeing the same thing from someone else's camera. lol
Wondering if you'll be replacing the rear tire before you head south from Chicago. When I saw, in a pre departure video, the aggressive knobby you had installed on the back, I figured that the thing would probably be toast by the time you got there. Is it?
I like and follow your videos. I'd suggest that in addition to your Spot tracking page, you set up a page at Spotwalla dott com. That way you'll have a permenant record of your trip, since Spotwalla keeps your tracks forever.
This is good stuff. . .im really looking forward to when u really get into south america. . . .the scenery there will be insane! :) thanx again for sharing this footage with us.

@dontworrybehappy7777 Life on the road can be pretty cheap. You can get a big bag to toss on the back of the 650r like a Wolfman

What kind of research have you been doing about places to stay or camp out in south America, maybe as a group we could help?

It may come back to haunt you....in the eventual monotony of it all!!!
