UVA ways cannot flow through the cage that you have on top. I have two turtles and i have talked to many experts adn they recommended I have two lights. one as UVA and one as UVB. this way your turtle will keep a strong shell.

Thats odd... they told me one is fine.... in fact the only complaints i got were i needed a WAAAAY bigger tank for that LITTLE turtle lol

@Sunnygirl305 you need a basking light and a uv light. one is for temp the uv is so they can produce a viatmin to digest their food and grow. you can buy this one kinda expensive light that is a basking light that also produces uv.. it's like 2 in 1 but it's expensive like i said

Hi, if you get a bigger tank dont put fish in there with the turtle because it will try to eat the fish. if you want you could also get little feeder fish from the pet store so your turtle can eat them instead of eating pellets all the time. if your looking for something to put in there put another turtle in there, the same breed and if you do that u need a 20 gallon tank

i did that before, i added a 2nd turtle, and my oldest turtle (bigger than the new one) started to bite the little one ='( i had all kinds of answers: the big one claimed its territory, different kinds of turtles, or it was bigger that the new (little) one so it picked on the little one ='(( but i get these turtles for free from friends ndd they have no idea what kind of turtle they are ='( so i gave my big one away and kept the little one.

You can get these in a private petshop (ex: Victor's pet store, etc etc) none that are associated with the BIG stores like Petsmart or Petco or anything like that because it is against the law to sell a turtle to you that are less than an inch due to the fact that they carry a shit load of salmonella (pardon my french lol) but to me that only applies for kids who are under the age of.... 13 i would assume, becuase kids tend to play with their pets and never wash their hands.

Salmonella can even come from dogs, which is why its important to always wash your hands after handling ANY kind of pet. But kids don't listen soo its not good to give kids turtles that are under 1 inch

just please make sure you keep the turtle away from kids under 13, and when you finish playing with them, right away, even if your phone is ringing or someone is at the door, wash your hands first, or else you will forget and people that do, ends up sick and in the hospital =/

cool! and luckyy!!! lol i want the red ear sliders... but i think i have a yellow ear (not sure) and i got that one for free, but im debating if its a yellow ear or just a regular cooter only im super lucky to have a rare looking cooter lol
