There is a mission in me3 were u have to heal the genophage!!! Keep the notes and research, in the level Mordin sacrifices himself to cure it or something! Maybe if you all ready have a near finished cure, he might not die!!! I got this info from a gameinformer magazine ( the Mordin sacrificing himself, genophage stuff )
I'm not sure how much of this is really true but its worth a shot and my sources are good. :)
I almost always save the research because in the 3rd game if the Krogan are being too stubborn to help me deal with the reapers I can whip it out and go "LOOK WHAT I'VE BEEN WORKING ON"
@Dragon11730 I thought that at first as well, but it turns out not to be Maelon. In one playthrough, I let Mordin kill him, and the same footage was shown of Urdnot Torsk 'going Spartan' on a Salarian.
I was an absolute dick in Mass Effect 2, but even I thought Mordin was way too violent. I spared the lives of the batarians on Omega and I stopped him from killing his student on Tuchanka.
@HarmsDino The cure will cause bad consequences whatsoever. It's like humans. Because of modern medical care, death rate drops; we offset it partly by contraception and still we have 6 billion people and that's too much for earth.
Currently the growth rate of Krogan is acceptable to nature. If this number is multiplied by a thousand then it is totally unacceptable to the galaxy. Then, either they come up with a plan to offset it, or Sheperd glasses all Krogan worlds.
They were acceptable to nature in the first place because Krogans originated from Tuchanka, a place that held so many dangers to krogans that they HAD to have large clutches in order to survive.
If The Krogan had only populated worlds like Tuchanka, no population boom would ever have occured.
Also, Earth can support 6 billions and more. Only Human greed and evil is the reason not everyone goes to bed with a full stomach and a house over their heads.
Mordin didn't destroy it because of changes to the galaxy. He destroyed it because he was angry at his student, who he knew was right but couldn't swallow it.
And, following what Promenius said, it's only unacceptable because it would cause worry to the galaxy. So destroying an entire species rather than making peace is more called for?
@DeathMessenger1988 the deisse effectivly cuts down the birthrate was never designed to wipe them all out. in fact i wouldn't doubt if the numbers started going down too far they would send in another group to modify it the other way....
from the lore the Krogan are the second highest next the rachni in birthrate... Salarens seems to have a high birthrate too but have already took steps to hold back there pop. considering like 80% or more are males and such. and only a very few ever getto mate
You think 99.9% of birthrates being failures wasn't designed to wipe them out? Geez! Was 50% or 60% too "non-dramatic" for a viral weapon of victory?!
Actually, think about who was going to USE Maelon's cure. Clan Weyrloc, to be precise.
And the Clanspeaker for Weyrloc DID in fact declare that once they got the cure, their hordes would overrun the galaxy, destroying everyone and then raising salarians to be slaves while eating their eggs as a delicacy.
So you might be right if this was any other clan but Weyrloc, but in this case Mordin was correct: had Maelon succeeded, Clan Weyrloc would have messed up the galaxy.
You are not incorrect. Maelon did say he tried convincing Wrex's clan, but they didn't approve his methods. I think Wrex could have at least thought about it, though I don't really blame him. Still, short-sightedness is the problem here, from every side of the problem.
On my first playthrough i was a Paragon but i let him shoot Maelon because he seemed unstable. It's interesting that the dialog with Mordin is the same whether or not Maelon is dead.
Mordin is no murder, takes lives yes, but only those who dangerous to others, genophage was to balance the krogan population to prevent total destruction of species, i can truly understand why he did what he had to do.
I disliked the video because he is a custom sheperd
